We've gathered enough woods for fire and leaves and fruit for foods. Elissia snipe some birds up the trees by her ice needles along the way so that she will have her own food.
She did it easily than I did with my fire orbs. Next time I'll practice creating small ones and name it fire bullets.
We've returned full handed and set up the place for our new company. We picked up few dried leaves too for her to have something to sleep. We gathered the woods in the center and I lit it up with my flames.
Elissia asked me about my magic and I told her that I can control and command it at will.
"Hmmm. I've never heard of fire manipulation like this one. I knew that some fire magic user still needs a magic circle for them to constantly control or manipulate the fire element. They can't maintain the magic circle for long too and takes a few minutes before they can redo it again."
Magic circles huh? In my knowledge, they are used to cast a complex spells just by inscribing it in the magic circle. I've never seen one before. I should ask her about it then, we don't have anything to do anyways.
"I still don't know more about my magic but I can somehow use it with no problem. Can you tell me about this magic circle and other from of conjuring magic? "
"No problem." She said in a carefree manner. "Magic circles, the one I mentioned earlier is used to conjure instant spell. It's mostly used for the complex and powerful spells. Here let me show you one." Elissia changed her position into crossed legs and extended both her hands on each side.
I felt a cold aura touching my sense and then infront of Elissia's both hands appeared magic circles of white lights emitting a blue aura. There's some foreign inscriptions that I am not familiar with.
"This spell is what I called ice owls. They were owls made of ice magic with the help of magic circles.They can shoot ice needle or explode in front of the target and freezing them if they weren't able to resist." Elissia's eyes glowed in mild icy aura and one owl appeared from both the magic circles.
"I can access their vision that's why I used them mostly for scouting. Although I can't access sounds around it." She hovered the owls above my siblings who playfully chase it. They were like translucent block of ice carved into an owl figure, but it was able to move and it's movement was truly like an actual owl.
"You might mistaken it as a summon but it's not. Only beings with wills are considered as a summon. These owls was all controlled by me. It's hard to do it manually that's why I use magic circles so that I won't have any problem controlling them easily. That's what magic circle does." She withdraw her hands and the magic circles and light in her eyes vanished the same as the ice owls.
"Next one was the incantation or chants. They're like magic circles but manually and not that fast and instant. You need to chant the right words of the existing spells as well as controlling your mana. It's hard but many still used it. They were used mostly to cast complex spells too. They can even cast magic circles. Unfortunately, I only have one spell that I can cast using incantation."
Another example! I wonder what kind of spell is it? My siblings whose been listening with me too express their excitement and eagerness to witness Elissia casting a spell.
Elissia stands up breathing an amount of air before she readied and open her mouths. "Greater spirit of ice, hear my request and give me the strength to freeze my foes. Give me strength to endure, the strength to smite, and the strength to swallow them in everlasting ice!"
Her body glowed with the familiar icy white aura. The cold breeze past us as Elissia's whole body illuminated the cave. After few seconds of blinding light, her cold aura settled down same as the light. Elissia was now covered in an armor made of ice! On both her hands she was holding a shield and sword of deep blue ice.
She's like an ice knight. Although she was not fully covered, her chest, shoulders and arms are, same as her waist, knees and feet. Her shield was diamond shape with simple line designs. Her sword was two edged and it's size are just fit for her hands to carry effortless.
"This is the ice knight spell. It's very much common but it's efficiency and effectiveness varies on how powerful the user or caster was." She closed her eyes again and the armor, shield and weapon turns into icy blue dust.
"I can wear and cast it as long as I want as long as I have the mana to supply it. "
"I see, then the other elements has this same kind of spell then right?"
"Yes, but their effects are different. Ice are balance on toughness and attacking capability and also has this effect that slows your opponent near you. The earth knight is great in defense and heaviness."
" The rest Weren't really an armor but more on boosting the user's capability. Wind will hasten you, fire, Poison and lightning will inflict great damage on enemies, water will slow and hinder the enemies movement while light and darkness improves the user's overall status. There is this fae element that accelerates the healing capabilities of the user. There are also combination of these elements but it's rare because individuals with two or more elements are rare too."
I see. I don't know if I will be able to use this kind of techniques. I don't even know how to draw or use magic circles and Incantations. Wait?
"Then can you explain how was i able to use magic without any magic circles and incantation?"
"Oh my, I was actually going to tell you about that but we got derailed from our first topic. I'll just resume it then and I will be able to answer that question."
It's my fault though. I was the one who asked about the those armors. "Okay, please continue."
"Very well. About the summoners, they can summon beings like tamed beasts. But first, they need to tame it of course and form a pact with it. The number of beings that can be summon differs from the user's mana pool or the strengths of summon. Summoners first need to learn how to use dimension magic. I will explain what is dimension magic next time, but dimension magic allows you to access a second dimension where you can store living or non living beings at your will."
"There is this beings called necromancers and they were considered summoners too, even though they were actually different. Necromancers can summon magic fueled artificial beings like golems and undead. It will be another topic for another time."
Necromancers? There is that character to in the novel I read, but all I knew was it can summon undeads.
"But the most common way of conjuring magic is to control your mana, familiarise and visualise it. Just like visualising an ice needle perfectly and supply mana in it to materialised. Is it the case of your power?"
It seems like it! But there is this thing that is really unusual. She only said controlling and visualising it.
"I am not sure. Yes I can materialise a a fire by just visualising and manipulating my mana to fuel it. But sometimes, my flames can move or act on its own. And I can even command them."
Elissia puts a finger in her chin while she is back in a crossed leg sitting position.
"Then, I think it is your innate ability."
"Innate ability?" I repeated her last words.
"Yes, Innate ability. Almost every being has their own Innate ability. Most of them are common but there are rare and special types."
"I have an Innate ability too. And not to brag but, it is a special type." Elissia evince a proud look on her face when she said that. Special type huh.
"What is it then?"
"I am sure you saw me about to use it. But it was cancelled because of the assassins's boss."
"Was it that ice scales growing in your skins and the horn?" I think I saw her floating with that form just in time when I arrive. And it was cancelled by that guy who she killed last.
"Yes, you're right. It's called the dragon wills. Mine was the ice dragon's. When I am in that form, all my sense are improve by many times. Same as the health and mana regeneration. It also enhance the strength and effectiveness of my spells."
That's a cheat like ability! It's a shame I wasn't able to see its potential prowess. But it's rated as an special Innate ability Base on how she stated it.
"Now, as for yours, I am not sure if it's a rare or a special one. We were still not sure about the nature of your ability and how it really works. But I believe your Innate ability is not a common one!"
