I decided to just traverses deeper inside the forest aimlessly as my siblings trailed behind me. Along the way, I picked up yellowish leaves and shred it into two with my claw like limbs and pierced them both in my small trunk so we will have food along the way. Surprisingly, all of my siblings did the same and I was quite impressive to my male sibling who was the biggest of us because he was able to put 6 layers of half leaves on his trunk which was the biggest of us all. While the rest was just like me with pairs of yellowish half leaves on our trunks.
I guess we should pick our own foods from now on. Our journey continued until we found a large fallen trunk with a hallowed inside. I decided that we should reside here for a while as it was already dawn. The hallowed inside was deep enough for us to consider it like the cave we used to have. We all entered and put the leaves we picked up in one place. Dizziness could be felt on all of my siblings as they snuggle close to each other and one by one they collapsed on the wooden floor. I also entered they're small circle and rest my body.
I was surprised as I decided to rest, like a wave, all the fatigued stored inside my small body assaulted me all at once boosting my dizziness along with the constant ache all over my body. I have no time to continue my grief or think about the future as I fall asleep just a second.
The next day, I was woken up by the munching sound. I saw my siblings encircling our pile of foods and eat to their hearts content. We just brought with us small amount of food so since I wasn't that much hungry, I decided to not join them for now and move towards the entrance. The sky was a mixture of deep blue, Violet and orange as the sun hasn't emerged out of the mountains yet . A mist covered the ground below making the forest looks like it was flooded.
Only faint chirping that seems to come from far away and the winds and leaves collaborating to make a beautiful sound can be heard. I hopped out of the log and dive into the mist which surprisingly just the same height of me in depth. The scenery was between scary and mystifying and I can't help but swim my thoughts in it as it helps me rinse the darkness corrupting my mind and heart.
After a while of indulging myself in the mystifying mist, a big body past by me followed by the one just as big at me. From behind me, screeches resounded as I faced them and see the sight of my siblings playing in the mist. Unlike yesterday, the gloomy clouds above their heads was nowhere to be found and just joy and curiosity which their small figures supposed to have.
I was astonished to see all of us now in clear mind and playing like the small beetles that we are. I let go of the grief that I believe I shouldn't take away from me as I believe that I need to hold on it.
I lock my sadness deeper in my mind and played along with my siblings in the mist. We ran around the log that we were staying at until the sun was reigning over the skies again and the mist vanished slowly revealing the wet orange ground of the forest.
I told everyone that we need to look for food first and they need to trail behind me. Somehow, I became the big brother of our small family as my siblings just keep following my command. I believe that I was the last one to broke out our egg. But surely, I can lead us better with my added experience of my past life. We formed a line and walked straight ahead away from the log picking up leaves along the way while exploring and familiarising the surroundings.
Everyone skewered more than what they can fit in our trunks as I commanded and once everyone's trunk was full of yellowish leaves, I took a turn and headed to the direction towards the log. After a few minutes, we finally saw our home we chose yesterday and one by one, we unloaded the leaves on our trunks and piled it in a corner.
After that, my siblings played again or just observed our wooden cave while I was in the middle thinking of what to do. That's when it hit my mind. I don't know if beetles in this world will recognise names that are given to them, but in my observations, beetles of this world are much smarter than the ones on earth.
It took a while for my Kaizers to recognised their names but we will try it here.
The most noticeable of all in our family was the big guy. One characteristic was he is big and intimidating but I knew that my brother was a kind hearted one. Him, what if I start all our names in K? I want the name to be intimidating too. Kaitron? I don't know about the name but I am sure I'm bad at picking one. But this sounds good.
He was chasing the one who is the fastest of us. And now he is my next target. I didn't think of much thought about him, just his speed gave me a basis to name him. Krono? On my opinion, the name sounds fast though? And it was based on a word chrono which is related with time. Ughhh! So be it, he will be Krono, I'm having a hard time squeezing my brain. Next one was one of the most very remarkable too because of his blue patch on his back.
Should I just stick with the K? I want to name him blue because there's no words related to Blue that starts with K is entering my mind. I'll just make one which is not related to his characteristics. Kiro will do.
The next one would be just Kai. He's more like me because we don't have that much characteristics that stands out.
Last one was the two female. Not much remarkable characteristics. Just their small body which prove my theory that they were female. Kaisa and Kira will do. These two name was quite proper among the rest I made. So be it.
First I called their attention one by one and they were now in front of me accordingly. I looked at the big guy whose on the first from left and transmitted to him sternly. 'Kaitron. 'Big guy tilted his head and I repeated his name. 'Kaitron.' I said again and he finally replied back his name to me with curiosity. 'Kaitron?' 'Yes, Kaitron.' I replied. I shifted my glance on Krono and did the same. Thankfully, the rest already has an idea of what am I doing which astonished me.
After I just said his name to him, he eagerly replied it to me. 'Krono!' He said. I look at Kiro whose also excited too and said. 'Kiro.' He repeated It to me and start sharing his name on the other two which then shared theirs too. Kai, the last male was as excited as Kiro. I conveyed his name to him and after replying it to me, he joined the other boys.
The two girls look at me eagerly and I gave their name consecutively. 'Kaisa, Kira.! I announced which they screech in happiness as they share their name with each other and the boys joined them cheering each other. The sight was heartwarming for me. And then I remembered that I need to name my self too. My name before was Gregory Hamilton. But of course I don't want to use it here in another world. Should I use Kaiser? Maybe I should. It is something important to me anyways.
And with that, I called everyone's attention and announced my name. 'Kaiser.' With that, everyone rejoiced. I don't know how they knew what a name is, it's mysterious but it's good either way. After celebrating for a while, everyone started playing while I head towards the pile of food as I haven't had breakfast still.
After eating small amount of food. I stayed at the corner thinking about various factors that worries me. Unlike our first home, the hole of this log was so big that the same kind of bird that attack us before can just enter without any struggle. There's the problem of any other predators too. For now, I can activate my flames at will but that's it, I don't know yet how to control it and make moves like throwing fire or something like that. And if I use it, I need my siblings to get away from me which can be dangerous too as in our current state? I'm the only one who can fight.
I doubt that my parents had fought with other beast before. My mother can just levitate things and father can just make non physical figures. More on illusion though. I wonder if there's other beetles like us around? That's it! We need to join other groups of beetles for protection. With that, I found a new goal for our survival.
For the mean time, I will talk to my siblings for now. I want to improve their communication skills too. It's just conveying my thoughts or feelings but maybe we can be more fluent in the future with it. I talk to Kaisa whose now sitting not to far away from me. She must be tired with all that playing and decided to rest.
I tried to inquire her of what she is doing and she just nonchalantly emits tiredness. 'Tired.' I said on kaisa to which then she gazed directly to meet with a curious look. 'Tired.' I repeated on her. She still had no idea what am I talking about. An idea entered my mind. I tested it and transmitted her the feeling of tiredness and I repeated the word. 'Tired.'
Finally, Kaisa seems to understand now as she replied to me. 'Tired!' She transmitted to me energetically. Now she was facing with me with a happy eyes. I think she wants to know more. I took the chance of her interest and teach her the word for other feelings like hunger, anger, happiness and sadness. She was really delighted by this as she called the others to come which surprised me. Everyone was now sitting in horizontal line in front of me.
Sadly, I don't feel like repeating to teach what I taught to Kaisa. So I took advantage of the chance to teach them other words for things. I pointed the pile of leaves and said. 'Leaves. Foods. ' I should have not referred it as both leaves and food but I believe that they will be able to discern and differentiate those words. I taught them about light, wood, sound, and home. It was tedious using this telepathy so the last thing I taught to them was end which they vaguely understand as it has many meanings and use but I just trusted their future to let them know what the end really means.
I conveyed to them that I'm hungry and I'm gonna eat the foods which amazed them because I used words consecutively. This siblings of mine are really adorable. I munch again at the juicy and watery leaves and only Kaitron joined me as the others keep repeating the words with astonishment. I took a brief sleep as I think my siblings would not go out while I'm asleep.
I was woken up as my mind was assaulted with words of 'food' and 'hungry'. All of my siblings were looking at me with various looks. As I peek at the gap between their body, I saw our pile of foods was now empty. I also glanced at the entrance and based on the color of light which was in between of yellow and gold, it was still early in the afternoon. I raised my body from the floor with the help of my 3 pairs of limbs and taught them a new word.
Pointing my left flaw outside and followed by a word 'outside.' My siblings easily understand it and I also pointed my trunk and convey the word 'trunk.' They easily understood it too. 'Outside, Food, trunk.' Everyone was delighted as they heard the words used together and they understand my thought. We marched merely outside our wooden cave and picked up leaves. Teaching them the words tree, forest, ground and skies along the way, made them happy too. After everyone had their trunks filled with leaves, I taught them the word back and use it in a short sentence of 'back home.' Made them happy again.
We came back already dawn to our wooden cave. Not forgetting to teach them the word time, Dawn and afternoon, we entered our home and piled our gathered food again and then everyone started playing again as I sit at the very back.
My siblings learned how to ask the words of everything they see by just pointing it or expressing it to me with curiosity. It was really hard to teach them because the way of teaching it itself was energy consuming too. Constantly using telepathy was giving me tiredness like I was walking for an hour.
I endured the fatigue till night because my siblings are abusing me too for asking a words about everything even though I never stop emitting tiredness. Finally, my siblings felt the mental fatigue too as they felt dizzy. I gave them they're last words of the day which is sleepy, and dizzy. I snuggled myself on our circle and finally slept.
