Chapter 14 - A Demon Sage

"Something's weird, this family is so weird. No, or maybe the other nobles are weird," Arsenio said in his mind, taking a book from the shelf in front of him and reading it there.

Spending time in the library is all he can do right now. He couldn't see Ernesto right now because Ernesto was training there with Evan. If he suddenly came there, Androcles and Cecelia would tell him to train too. The only thing he could do now relied on his mind and the books in the family's library. And the thing he needed right now was information about the families of the nobles in this country.

"I need an informant, but there doesn't seem to be one here."

He continued to search for books that matched his desires while he thought a few times. If only someone would be happy to be an informant for him, he would be quite happy with that. But in reality, in this world, it was still too new for him. Even if he has so many maids and servants, he still can't use them as informants.

One thing that makes it difficult, will make it difficult. The basic thing he needs to know is that he has to find out on his own, without asking other people for help. Even so, he is currently on the verge of doubting the story about the two masters. What was just told by Fran Beltran, made him have to think twice about his innocence in choosing right or wrong.

"What's this?"

Arsenio picked up a book that had a bright red cover. The book caught his attention after he explored the library for 1 hour.

"A Demon Sage?"

The title of the book was, "A Demon Sage". The book, tells about where the demons fight with their fellows in the Eternal Hell. The story explained that several centuries ago, before this world existed, that demons had once fought with each other. And those wars, demons who couldn't stand the greed of their friends decided to roam this universe. Some of them found a proper place to live. But some of them, buried in their dwellings, we're unable to adapt in that place.

They split up, leaving their families still in Eternal Hell. They suffered because their families had to be sacrificed there. They begged God to just eliminate their family so that they would not suffer like this. Their prayers seemed to be asking sincerely to be free from it, even though they were "demons".

The angels who witnessed it also felt concerned. They had an idea to help the demons who were expelled from Eternal Hell due to the possession of the other demons. They find the demons that were expelled a proper place to live, on the condition that the demons don't do any damage to the world. Also, they helped the demons to free their families who were still trapped in the Eternal Hell.

Surviving for tens of centuries, the demons continue to survive so as not to disappear. They survive thanks to the help of angels who are very concerned about their condition. Disappearing as if in agony, the angels didn't want that to happen to the demons expelled from the Eternal Hell. They continue to help non-stop even though they know that they and the demons once fought in the name of Heaven.

When this world was created, and when the first human was born in the world, God seemed to answer the prayers of the demons who were expelled from the Eternal Hell. They were given a place to live there, sharing their abode with humans and other creatures. It is a blessing given by God to them so that they can survive there.

But, after they lived there for tens of thousands of years with humans and other creatures, there was a rebellion against their displeasure with the arrogant attitude of humans. And the leader of the rebellion, named Leonard, who used to have the position of Servant of the Demon King in Eternal Hell, started the rebellion to the point of causing a war between humans and demons to occur there.

God was not happy with that. They and the humans should have lived peacefully there, but instead, they started a rebellion there. Therefore, God decided to seal their leader so that the 10-year war was over. The angels and their followers, even though they knew the reason why Leonard started the rebellion and war, could only remain silent and give in to God's decision.

Before Leonard was sealed, he spoke his last words. He said, "I'm not doing this because I can't be grateful for the God's giving me a place to live. I'm doing this because I know they humans are just like us; so greedy. If I don't start this, they'll have an attitude like us. I just want to stop this before it's too late. But God's decision is absolute. I can't do anything..."

In the presence of his friends, followers, and other demons, Leonard was sealed by God for his rebellion against the humans. The pleasure that had been given by God, he had wasted it and turned his back to start a war that could destroy this world.

And after that, his followers and the other demons' whereabouts were unknown. Some say that they are all around us. Some say that they have returned to the Eternal Hell. And some say that they have disappeared from this world. Their existence, absolutely no one can notice them. One thing is for sure, they will surely return to obtain the truth of this world and earn their rights as "demons who have been expelled from Eternal Hell" because of the greed of their fellows there.

"It's over..." Arsenio closed the book after reading the story. He then returned the book to its original place, then went to his seat. "Umm... that was... what did I read? Nevermind. The most important thing right now is, I've found out about my confusion."

Arsenio had found it, discovering about "greed" thanks to the book he had just read. What he found might answer his confusion over what had happened to his family and the nobles.

"Then now..."

He looked at the clock that was there. It was already 6 pm, he had been in the library long enough without realizing it, and he was surprised by it.

"I have to meet with Ernesto. I have a question to ask him."

He left from there, out of the library, into his yard.

Arriving there, he saw Ernesto was resting there. But somehow, the grass, trees, and clothes worn by Evan looked damaged. On the page of his house, it looks so messy as if there had just been a big disaster there.

"Woah... He trained quite hard, even destroying this yard."

After saying that, he approached Ernesto who looked a bit exhausted.

"You forgot your promise."

Arsenio said that with an innocent face, hoping that he would be angry with Ernesto.

"Ah, sorry. I'm too busy here, so I can't go to the library for our regular meeting."

"I know that, so I didn't expect you to come there. Forget that, I have something to ask you."

"What's that?" Ernesto was standing right in front of Arsenio.

"How many wives do you have?"

"...Huh? Of course only one. I'm a pervert, but that doesn't mean I can double my wife. Well, when I was in high school, I did have 8 girlfriends."

"You're a playboy..."

"You could have said that to me when I was in high school. But now, I realize that I can only have one woman. So what's the point of your question? Did you find something that you should ask there?"

"Ah, I found something. To put it simply, I discovered the attitude of humans in this world—no, not even in our previous world. I have found that greed is their basic attitude to start hatred. If one is greedy, then there will be war in the world. And you know about the war between your country and mine?"

"Yeah, the higher-ups are very greedy to get the territory they want."

"That's right."

"So what?"

"Among the nobles in this country, there are those who are very greedy to take the rights of other nobles. That's why Androcles gets bad treatment from those who are greedy. Simply put, they will continue to try to get the rights that Androcles has before they get them. What happens to this family is that the family will be killed by greedy people. As their children, we must prevent that."

"Then who do you suspect? Jamila? Evan?" Ernesto thought for a moment, looking at Arsenio who looked serious.

"Our mother, Cecelia."

"Hah!?"

With that surprised look, Ernesto was shocked by what Arsenio said.
