"Amongst the 49, there are 8 children, 17 men, and 24 women… And including yourself and Ivo, we now have 19 men, 6 of which are sprouters."
**Children were those below the age of 6 the age of. And sprouters were men below the age of 12.**
In the end, there was only so much that a sprouter could do compared to an adult from 13 upwards.
Wolfram himself was 14 and already… People in his age group could hunt ferociously, grow muscles and live well in the wild.
All these were key factors, analyzing their survival plan.
Wolfram nodded in satisfaction, making his voice sound mighty. "Well done, Otto; with 19 men, we should be able to protect ourselves for the moment."
Oops.
Everyone chuckled, finding Wolfram's stern expression hilarious.
Why was their future leader so delicate-looking?
Hey…one could only blame his late mother for his features.
In any case, should they tell him that they weren't buying his majestic act?
Maybe those who didn't know him well might take him seriously. But not them!
Oh well… when in public, they had to give him face.
Otto smiled. "Thank you, Village chief."
(-w-)
Wolfram choked in embarrassment, seeing the gang try to hold their quivering lips.
He just wanted to try adjusting little by little, growing into a majestic ruler.
But with such subordinates, why did it feel like it would be an impossible feat?
'Hmph! Laugh all you want. But when I get my strength, you all will definitely be in awe!'
[Bahahahaha~... Stupid host, even your subordinates don't believe this.]
'You shut up!'
.
Cough, cough~
He laughed to hide his embarrassment.
"Well… Yes… Nicely done, Otto. As for you, Leo, what about a check on the food items? Are you sure we have everything we need?"
Leo nodded. "I checked it all this morning, one by one, ensuring that no one tried to pull a prank on us. I wouldn't hold it against that bastard Torr to have people switch our grain and food supplies with rocks, sand, and grass."
Wolfram looked at the wagons in satisfaction.
They had a total of 4 wagons; 3 carrying people and one for their bags of dried grains seeds, the only few sets of clothing items they had, some other necessities, and their many weapons.
In this village, only a handful of people could afford a horse. Torr's family had a total of 7 horses, while the Nells had 4.
And apart from them, a few elders also had one or 2 horses.
No one else in the village did.
Horses were seen as treasures. And though they gave birth from time to time, the dangers of this world caused these village horses to die faster than usual.
Sometimes, the jealousy of other village political families caused the death of these horses, sneaking their spies to kill them.
What is worse is that amongst the remaining horses in the village, only 2 out of the lot are female.
And they belong to Torr.
For this trip, the Nells had exchanged a few of their properties with the elders and Torr, acquiring grain, other essential items, and a few more horses to pull their wagons.
For now, it looks like everything was in place.
Otto had done the roll call, Leo had double-checked their properties, while Titus, himself, and Ivo had stayed in his hut, making a few changes to their traveling plans.
Wolfram nodded in satisfaction, watching everyone get on the wagons amidst the snickering crowd.
But he wasn't going yet.
How could he when one of the stars of the show hasn't arrived yet?
.
The whispers from the crowd were ruthless.
Some laughed at their predicament, others cursed, while some wished them death.
But suddenly, the crowd created a vast opening. And soon, he saw who he was waiting for.
The corner of Wolfram's mouth raised high.
Din. Din. Din. Din.~
Step by step, a giant emerged along with his men.
And when they stopped by Wolfram's wagon, the giant raised his hand to press Wolfram's shoulder.
Many thought he was comforting him, but only wolfram knew how sharp the pain on his shoulders was.
Titus and the rest wore grim expressions. But they didn't do or say anything.
The signal from Wolfram was clear enough.
"Nephew... If I were powerful, I would've been able to take down the assassin, and you won't have to leave."
Wolfram chuckled, hiding his pain. "Well, uncle is right about that."
'If you were that powerful, where would I have the chance to survive this long?' Wolfram thought.
Torr didn't know it, but he was right about this.
If his transmigration start-up foe were a person who has undergone countless battles with a vast network of power on his fingertips, where would they believe this assassin story?
In fact that same night, they would probably send out their hidden guards to vanish and search the entire terrain, going to further towns and regions just to find the truth.
There was only so little that Torr, a mortal villager, could understand.
As villagers, many of them had never set foot past the few neighboring villages till the day they died.
Their world scope was small, too afraid to take risks.
But this didn't mean he would underlook Torr's ambition.
Wolfram had a feeling that Torr wanted to be more than a village chief.
To do this, he would need to conquer the nearby villages, uniting the entire place.
In the end, who knows if Clovis village would someday be a Town?
And would Torr stop just there?
The look in his eyes said he wanted more!
.
'I know you know that I killed your father. But what can you do to me? Your death is already set in stone!'
Heh.
Torr smirked, removing his hand from Wolfram's shoulder blades.
"Nephew, it's time you leave. I wish you all the best."
Without wasting any more time, Torr and his group made another turn, leaving these dead men to their fate.
Wolfram briefly stared at Torr's fading silhouette before finally getting into the wagon.
"Let's go."
It's time to leave Clovis village.
