Chapter 3 - Year 1700 (Part 3)

The two were ignorant at the time that Eulogio had finally informed Leticia's father everything, claiming that the daughter of the Rajah was conversing with a servant and her feet were on the ground.

"When my father discovers that I disregarded his commands, he will undoubtedly chastise me." The girl's voice is sorrowful; she has done nothing in her life and has always followed her father's orders, but it is only when she attempts to disobey his orders that she feels pleasure she has never felt before in her life. When the young guy noticed the girl was upset, he reached inside the basket and took out a stalk of tulips he had brought from the field.

"For you..." he stated as he handed the flower to the woman. "That's my favorite flower, and I obtained it on the farm earlier while I was farming. Do you know what a tulip means? it stands for eternal love — love which lasts forever and is unbreakable even by death. It indicates that you may love each other for a long time and yet fall in love with each other on a daily basis, perhaps maybe in the lifetimes to come." Sullivan stated after handing Leticia the tulip flower, the lady was able to gaze at him with shock as a result of what he said, and her heartbeat raced and her world almost came to a halt at that time.

"I love you, Leticia," Sullivan said something that made the woman's world spin gently as if the birds in the area were flying slowly.

All she could do was embrace Sullivan closely since she didn't know what to say or how to react to the young man's confession to her. Even while he couldn't declare he loved the young guy himself, he knew Sullivan did base on her hug with him.

"Eulogio is correct, you have disregarded my commands." Leticia had been separated from Sullivan when she heard a voice from someone she recognized, her father is the possessor of that voice. When Leticia saw her father with her mother, who could sense the unexplained worry on her face, her eyes were opened wide. Behind the couple were Rajah Tavio, who couldn't believe what he was seeing, and Lakambini Isabella, who had always despised Sullivan since she was her husband's illegitimate child with a slave in their area.

Eulogio, Lakambini Isabella's son, stands next to her. He is certain that Sullivan and the woman he dearly loved, Leticia, will never meet again because of what he has done.

"When did you figure out how to disobey whatever I say?!" Rajah Benicio's fury could be heard in his voice, which he had previously contained until they left San Isidro, as he smacked Leticia's right cheek with his right palm at the same time as he yelled. When he saw Sullivan, a slave in San Isidro, embracing her daughter and also Leticia's two feet on the ground were stepped already, he nearly gave up in rage.

"Benicio!" When Lakambini Leila witnessed her husband hitting their daughter Leticia, she yelled out in astonishment, while the girl remained silent while holding the area of her face that had been slapped by her father.

Lakambini rushed up to her daughter, while her tears dripped down her cheeks.

"You embarrassed me in front of San Isidro's Rajah! What will my friend say to me? that I didn't adequately raise you? that you have disobeyed my commands?" Again, the Rajah exclaims, he was even able to appear terrible while staring at her daughter. Professionally, and more importantly to Rajah Benecio, his work and whatever other people thought of him, so what his daughter did was disobedience to him, and it appeared to shame him.

Rajah Benicio had always wished for a son, but he was disappointed when he discovered that his child with his wife Leila was a woman; he could not accept it since he believed that a male could better rule a town than a weak woman.

"From now on, you will never come to San Isidro with us; instead, you will stay in our house and not speak to anybody as a punishment, and by the time I find out you have defied my command again, I may forget you are my daughter." Before he eventually left the woman's room, the Rajah said one more statement.

"Leila, let her be alone."

"I can't, she needs me—"

Lakambini hadn't completed his sentence when his husband reappeared and dragged her out of the girl's room. Leticia's world came to a halt as she heard what her father said, as tears welled up in her eyes, and she clutched herself tightly in the grief and emptiness she felt.

She grieved and sobbed because her circumstances will stay constant, the kind who can't be told about the problem and can't expose her weakness, the type who won't condemn and degrade her like Sullivan, the only person who understands and embraces her weaknesses and shortcomings.

There are scenarios where the man Sullivan goes to San Agustin even though he knew he would be severely punished or publicly shamed, but he did not hold back and preferred to go to that place to see the situation of the woman he loved, but the warriors capture him there and he is expelled in the area, it is hidden from the knowledge of the girl who is keen to see the man she loves.

The young man went to San Agustin one day, but this time was different since he was able to access the area with the assistance of a friend who lived nearby. It even provided him with a warrior's clothing, allowing him to finally enter the Rajah's house and speak with the woman he adored.

"Who are you?" The voice of a guy, one of the men defending the Rajah's residence from the outside. When Sullivan heard that voice, he quickly stopped walking and bowed his head so that no one could see his face; perhaps he assumed that the guards in this area recognized him because of their Rajah's instruction.

"T-The Rajah ordered to monitor on his daughter Leticia, as he was worried that she could escape to her room o-once more." The young man lied, and after saying that, he was able to take a deep breath. He tightly closed his eyes and then confidently stared at the man he was speaking with, thinking that if he acted strangely and suspiciously, this man may not trust him.

"How can you say you were directed by the Rajah since, as far as I know, he went to the forest with Lakambini earlier?" Sullivan's face was unfamiliar to him, so the guy queried him in wonder, his voice full of curiosity.

"He failed to notify the other troops knowing I was one of the warriors he took to the forest, so he sent me home." Because of Sullivan's direct response, the man believed him, and the man was even able to touch him on the shoulder, leading him to flee quickly so that he would not be questioned again.

When he noticed a room at the far end of the house with several warriors on watch, he strolled up to it expecting no one would question him, and he was not disappointed. When he walked into the room, he immediately knocked, he kept knocking multiple times before Leticia opened the door.

"Sul—" the girl had not finished mentioning the young man's name when Sullivan immediately covered his mouth and then entered the girl's room after that he closed the door. They also exchanged a few glances before hugging firmly as they missed each other, and Leticia couldn't stop sobbing because of the joy she felt at the time.

Sullivan immediately noticed the woman's lethargic physique and piercing eyes, as if they had come from continuous sobbing, as they parted in the hug.

"Are you alright? Why do your eyes appear sad? Is there a problem?" As he held both of the girl's cheeks, Sullivan inquired in succession. As he stated those words, his eyes and voice were filled with concern, and he gently wiped the tears from Leticia's eyes.

"Don't worry, I am alright, particularly now that I'm seeing you, but I am quite concerned about you; what if my father sees you? He will undoubtedly chastise and punish you to such an extent that I will be unable to bear it." The girl responded, and she was even able to stare into the young man's worried eyes.

"If that's the case, I'll imitate the sound of a beast once again in the hopes that he'll believe me." Leticia's feeble laughing was prompted by the young man's joking, and the girl even managed to hit his shoulder as a result of the girl's overwhelming laughter.

"Corny..."

"At least, I make you happy."

"You always did," Leticia responded, making the young man blush for no apparent reason. Later, Sullivan reached into his left pocket, where he found the three tulips he had picked up the day before while farming.

"Tulips for you... It means—"

"It stands for eternal love, love which lasts forever and is unbreakable even by death. It indicates that you may love each other for a long time and yet fall in love with each other on a daily basis, perhaps maybe in the lifetimes to come. Yeah, I know what it means." Leticia was chuckling as she imitated Sullivan's sentence regarding giving her a tulip flower.

The young man sighed he quickly fixed his gaze on Leticia's kind and lovely features.

"Always remember that I love you, even though I don't see you all the time. That is no reason for me to forget about you, notably my affection for you." She took a big breath and looked Sullivan in the eyes when the young man stated a cause to make Leticia smile. He realized that he had not yet informed the young guy how she felt about him, so she took a long breath and looked him in the eyes.

"I lo—" When she heard the door open and her father Rajah Benecio's loud shout, the girl couldn't finish what she was saying.

"Father, please don't!" When Leticia witnessed her father drag Sullivan out of the room, who was then blocking in front of her, she pleaded with him not to hurt him. The Rajah dragged Sullivan out of his house, drawing the attention of several people.
