Chapter 8 - Chapter 6: Fangs of the Past

Upon holding the scroll that resembling capsule, Haise never set his gaze upon the knowledge about magic that can be provided by it. As someone whose soul live for a very long time and before going back to the world of his origins, he had read a lot of grimoires - books related to magic. Furthermore, a lot of those were all forbidden.

Haise is not only a man who values freedom, he also value knowledge more than anything he could selfishly have. Knowledge he could use to survive and to protect. And knowledge was his current weapon he could use to improved himself as a warrior. However, there's one thing that limits his potential, and that was him being a human.

Haise tightened his grip upon the scroll, then his gaze turned to the slumbering cat in the bari-bag... then went back to the scroll.

Soon, as the scroll vanished in his hand in the blueish-white light, a holographic window appeared in the air before him. "[]"

"[]"

'As expected, that six-wing-being won't leave me alone just like that.' Haise just sighed, forcing himself to accept his unwanted quest to be involved in the mystic-world which is known to be the other side of the world, hiding in the human society.

'This world is indeed twisted as fuck. Now that I think about it, Yuina and Kaera's mom is also involved in the mystic-world. With their beauty alone, everyone would think they're part of a certain noble family. However, people around them seem to be missing it." It was just his assumption but chose to not believe or care about it before his transmigration to another world. After all, they seem to hide it well from the eyes of the people around them. And who in the world will believe him if he ever exposes their true identity? Besides the two daughters appears to be ignorant about it, too.

'Wait! That's it!' An idea suddenly occurred to him.

'For now, there's one person in this nation who can possibly help me.' A silhouette of woman with long wavy orange hair flashed in his mind. Strangely, that was all he can remember about her appearance. However, unlike when he tried to remember the faces of Yuina and Kaera at once, he did not have a hard time of remembering their appearance. Probably because they spent a lot of time together since their childhood times.

'But before that, I must return home and find some of my personal belongings that will help me to adapt, once again, in this world.' With that in mind, Haise vanished from the place along with the slumbering cat on his back.

In the place where the remains of the ruined house that was once stood as home, Haise just arrived therein out of the blue. The moment his gaze landed upon the state of the ruined house he called home, an urge of hatred swirling in his chest. This house was a place filled with memories with the most important person in his life and the only one who stood up beside him until she met her end in the shallow flames cause by the rotten young people.

And that hatred was so great that it even made his hidden eyes glow blood-red.

Haise walks into the ruins of his home, as he got in, there was a tent hidden behind the walls of the house. The foundations around the area were strong enough to block any minor storm. It may look dangerous, however, if anyone would just looked closely, the area is actually fixed and well refined.

Haise remembered mending the place as his gaze turned upon the tent and its surroundings. He approached the tent then went inside of it.

As he can clearly remembered, the place was still the same as before. His gaze wandered around, reminiscing the past. At the moment, he placed the cat down on the futon and let it rest there. Upon a certain table, there was a picture frame with a photo of him and his auntie that caught his eyes.

Haise picked it up with such care. He wiped the person in the photo, specifically the lady, with such care and gentleness, and a bitter smile appeared on his face. "How long has it been?"

"O yeah... In this world, a millennium doesn't even past." His voice became shaky and cloudy as felt the fangs of the past by just remembering it. "But still... how could I even forget about this? About you...?"

Haise embraced the photo, as if it were alive, with tears. As much as how strong his emotions at that moment, his eyes were glowing red, brightly, behind his eyeglasses and jet-black hair. 'I'm sorry... it took me a while to go--back." Soon, his consciousness slowly faded, but before that...

"I'm home..."

...

Haise opened his eyes and to his surprise, his hands were a bit small. He was in the shadows of alley, alone and cold in the snowy night.

"This place?" The feeling of nostalgia did not stop to bother him as he stood up and wandered his gaze to his surroundings. Strangely, not matter how much effort he walked away from the alley; he could not leave. Each time he attempted to step outside of the clutch of the shadow, the shadow will expand along the place. He felt so small and lost.

Haise just gave up and sat down. He embraced his legs and buried his face between his knees and chest.

"MEOOOW~" His ears were caught by the voice of the cat, while his skin was caught by the touch of its fur.

Haise raised his head and looked at the black cat beside him, touching him with comfort by its fur.

The black cat was all black like shadow and has fluffy fur. Its eyes' irises had different colors, on the left; it has blue iris, while on the right; it has silverish-grey irises.

Haise remembered the slumbering beautiful cat. He was not comparing the two cats, but instead, he was inwardly making fun of himself for being a mysterious-cat magnet.

With curios thought, Haise attempted to pet the cat, but the cat suddenly became a crow. It flopped its wings and flew, then suddenly, its body magically scattered and became butterflies. Soon the butterflies became one with the shadows as it faded.

Then a door of a certain building in the alley opened and light exited. Then soon after, a lady with familiar face existed from that door.

Haise with widened his eyes, looked at the lady's face. The lady was beautiful, had a nice figure, wore a flashy red dress, and her face was covered with make-up.

"Auntie K-Kiana?" Tears fell from his eyes as Haie saw her for the longest time he could remember.

As the snow fall from night sky, the coldness of the wind carries the sensation of nostalgia with the same scenario in his memories: a scenario in his memories where he first met the lady named Kiana in a snowy night; a night filled with pain and hole but was save from being lost and fallen.

The woman extended his hand with the same soft and strong smile on her face. She was like a hero that brings light and pulled him from the clutch of darkness. However as soon as Haise held her hand and was being pulled by the lady, the snow became particles of orange light. The temperature of the wind became hot and everything in his vision was already burning, including his auntie.

"No! No! No! Nooooo!" Despite being disfigured by the flames, Haise never felt disgusted. Instead, he embraces her like there will no longer tomorrow with her. "Please don't! I beg you!" He repeatedly cried. "Please..."

The lady gently tapped Haise's back and whispered: "I love you..."

Then everything he could see was ingulfed by fire. However, before his eyes were utterly blocked by the flames, he caught the glimpse of silver hair.

...

"Nooo!"

Haise opened his eyes widely with a red glow. "...." He was panting hardly and was sweating like he just came back from running. As he sat-up the moment he wake-up, he remembered the glimpse of the silver hair. It was a familiar hair to him.

Smile broke on Hiase's face, and at that moment, tears flowed down on his face; with a shaky voice he whispered:

"You were there..."
