Chapter 21 - Asleep

The next day, early in the morning Carla who had been excited to go to Jayke's apartment was now busy preparing sandwiches for breakfast for herself and Jayke.

For some reason, she was sure that the young man had not had breakfast this morning, and for that, she had prepared his lunch beforehand before going to Jayke's apartment which she said was only one block from her residence.

A smile was the start of the day this morning.

'Hopefully, I can really help them. Nial, it seems that this time I have forgiven you, even though I was disappointed in you before.' Carla's monologue in mind as she stepped out of her residence.

Along the way, Carla smiled a few times, and don't forget that she seemed to be whistling lightly at times remembering that she was going to her best friend's place.

She realized that her goal to Jayke's apartment was none other than to continue his mission in disguise to find out the mastermind behind the cause of Nial and also his father getting a rare disease, only for some reason she became excited because she remembered that what she was about to meet was Jayke.

Ting Tong

Jayke's doorbell rang loudly. The young man who was the host quickly opened the door. He was very sure that the guest who came this time was his own friend.

Click!

A smile could be seen on Carla's face.

"Morning," Carla said greeting her friend.

"Morning," Jayke replied to Carla.

The girl was quite happy with the greeting that she just gave with her sweet smile, it just didn't last long.

The dark circles that were clearly visible under Jayke's eyes immediately caught Carla's attention.

The reflex of the girl's empty hand rubbed the dark circles under his eyes.

"You didn't sleep?" Carla muffled quickly concluded.

Jayke immediately closed his mouth tightly. He was quite confused by the answer he had to give his best friend Carla.

"I was just so enthusiastic that I forgot about my bedtime," Jayke finally stuttered a little.

Carla twirled her eyes lazily. She really didn't expect anything like that.

"It's not right Jayke, if you are like this, then what if you are sick?" Carla asked looking at Jayke seriously.

Again, Jayke was silent. In fact, in front of Carla, for some reason, he immediately felt guilty if he did something that Carla didn't like.

Seeing the young man in front of her already looked guilty, of course, Carla couldn't bear to see it.

"Can I come in already?" Carla asked in the end trying to lighten the mood a little.

Jayke nervously nodded his head.

"I'm sorry," Jayke said like a child who had just been scolded by his parents.

Carla only gave a low hum.

"Sit down," Carla said when she saw the sofa in the living room of Jayke's apartment.

Jayke did as Carla said. It felt like Carla wanted to laugh when she saw that Jayke, who was actually the owner of the apartment, actually did what she said.

Shouldn't Carla be the one Jayke invited to sit? Then why does the opposite happen?

"Looking at your face and your clothes, I'll make sure you haven't had breakfast, have you?" Carla asked confidently.

A nod of Jayke's head gave Carla.

Jayke can't lie to Carla!

"Here, I've made a sandwich for you, and for me, we can eat together ... Ah, where is your kitchen I will make a warm drink to accompany this sandwich," Carla said casually.

Jayke quickly restrained Carla who was just about to get up from the sofa.

Oh, come on, he just realized that his current position is Host, so he should be the one serving his guests.

"Let me serve drinks for us, you already made breakfast, so ... you just sit here comfortably."

A nod of the head and a smile appeared on Carla's face.

"Carren!" Carla screamed suddenly after realizing that she was the only one who could still move in the storyline, while the others, like time, had stopped, seemed frozen, and didn't move at all.

'What the hell is this why she stopped the story there and not at a good ending in one chapter.' Carla monologues in her mind.

After that, she stomped her feet and headed to the dream zone where she was sure she could meet Carren.

.

.

Bingo!

The Carren she was looking, for now, seemed to be sleeping in a large garden.

"Oh my gosh she's really here," Carla softly walked closer to Carren who looked asleep.

The closer Carla got to Carren, the more the girl felt uncomfortable waking up Carren, who was still closing her eyes.

"Looks like you're really tired," Carla said at last uncomfortably and chose to sit next to Carren as if she were accompanying the girl.

The breeze seemed to hit Carla and Carren's skin.

As Carla sat there, staring at Carren's face, a sudden image suddenly caught Carla's attention.

"Who are you?" Carla whispered, feeling something strange in Carren's dreamland.

Silence

Carla couldn't hear an answer at all.

'How strange, why do I feel that someone is currently monitoring us.' Carla whispered in her mind trying to read her own intuition.

Carla's eyes circulated in all directions nearby.

'There's nobody,' Carla said quietly.

Carla suddenly heard a low moan.

She quickly made a small movement and she now folded her arms across her chest.

"Carla?" Carren whispered while frowning in disbelief, while Carla was busy nodding her head.

"Gosh I haven't finished my chapter yet, so I fell asleep on my desk again?"

"It seems so, and this time you finished the chapter it really hangs," said Carla, who slightly protested at Carren.

A long sigh was heard from Carren's lips, she also felt a little annoyed because she couldn't hold back a little sleepiness.

"I don't know if I fell asleep like that right away," Carren finally said while looking down a little.

Carla stared intently at Carren and after that patted Carren's shoulder who was right next to her.

"Next time, you set your bedtime Carren, you always ignore your bedtime."

A small chuckle came out of Carla's mouth.

"Thank you, so far it's only you who remember me like that," said Carren with a bitter smile as if the smile had another meaning in her sentence.

Carla frowned in confusion.

'Strange, what's with her?'

"Are you okay?" Carla asked.

A silent nod Carren gave Carla.

'Maybe.'
