A sudden breeze blew Loma's dress about her legs in a flutter of red chiffon. She clutched her shawl around her shoulders as a buffer from both the wind and her father's entitlement as he helped himself to the knowledge of the new life she was carrying inside her.
Earlier, sharing with Yamm had felt so natural. She couldn't contain her tears of happiness as he embraced her. Now her eyes were dry.
Loma didn't want to share a damn thing with her real father, especially her tears. Whether they were fueled by her anger, her grief, or her joy…he didn't deserve them.
Ciprian had taken enough already. She refused to give him anything else.
