I look at her lifeless body and I can't help but think that this is my fault. If I hadn't dragged Laina into this mess, she would still be alive. She died in the hands of this—I turn to the man over her body and he has an evil smile on his face.
His scent is strong, and I can already tell that he is a vampire. The way he smells is completely different from Colin. It almost leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.
"Where do you think you are going?'' he walks closer to me and I hear the sharp sound of Griff's hands squeezing into fists. I don't look at him because I know that if this man even tries to attack me, he will protect me but I don't need his protection.
I just want to kill this vampire.
I summon my wolf instantly because this is a fight and I need him. This was not the plan, but I knew that anything could happen. I knew that there was a chance we wouldn't get out of here smoothly, so I was ready for that outcome.
