The coffee, hot and real in his hand despite the fantastical conjuring, stole Zhang Yi's breath for a moment. Ajay's words, however, sent a jolt of electricity through him. A safe haven? Climate-controlled paradise? A flicker of jealousy sparked in his chest, a bitter pang alongside a surge of excitement.
"Wait," Zhang Yi blurted, his voice hoarse. "You have abilities? Like mine or something?" The question hung heavy in the grimy air. This whole reincarnation story was a lot to swallow, but a magical safe haven? That, he could almost get behind. Maybe this guy was legit after all. Maybe… maybe this was a chance to rewrite his own story, a chance for revenge against the world that had taken everything from him.
Ajay chuckled, a low rumble that echoed off the damp brick walls. "Let's just say I have a few tricks up my sleeve." He winked, but a mischievous glint in his eyes hinted at something more. "Besides," he continued, his voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper, "wouldn't surviving this whole apocalypse thing be way more satisfying with a little… edge?"
A slow smile spread across Zhang Yi's face. Edge. He liked the sound of that. Maybe with Ajay's powers – whatever it was – and his own infinite storage power , they could rewrite the rules of this doomed world. He could finally settle the score with those who wronged him.
Suddenly, a flicker of orange caught Zhang Yi's eye. For a fleeting moment, a fiery aura seemed to emanate from Ajay, a power barely contained beneath his casual demeanor. It vanished as quickly as it appeared, leaving Zhang Yi blinking in confusion.
"Whoa, what was that?" he blurted, pointing at Ajay.
Ajay's smile faltered for a brief moment, a flicker of surprise crossing his face. "Oh, that?" he said nonchalantly, waving his hand dismissively. "Just a little… party trick. Nothing to worry about."
Internally, Ajay cursed his lack of control. (Ugh, those darn fire dragon instincts! Gotta keep a tighter lid on those.) He didn't need Zhang Yi freaking out about his hidden abilities just yet.
"So," Zhang Yi pressed, his voice laced with curiosity, "what's the catch? What do you want in return for this… partnership?"
Ajay shrugged, a casualness that Zhang Yi found strangely suspicious. "Honestly? Nothing much. I just kind of… like lounging around. Maybe a little company wouldn't hurt. Besides, two minds are better than one, right? Especially when it comes to surviving a global apocalypse."
Zhang Yi narrowed his eyes. Something about Ajay's nonchalance didn't sit right. There had to be more to it than just lounging around. But for now, the promise of a safe haven and a chance for revenge outweighed his skepticism.
"Alright," Zhang Yi said, extending a hand. "Partnership it is. But you better not be pulling any fast ones on me, buddy. Because trust me, surviving this isn't the only thing I have planned."
Ajay grasped Zhang Yi's hand, a ghost of a smile playing on his lips. He had a feeling this partnership was going to be far more interesting than just lounging around. The real question, though, was whether their combined efforts would be enough to survive the coming ice age, or if their hidden agendas would tear them apart before the world even froze over..
( Some time later )
A smirk played on Zhang Yi's lips as he eyed Ajay. The promise of a luxurious haven was tempting, but trust, especially for a guy spouting reincarnation stories, didn't come easy. He needed proof.
"Alright then," Zhang Yi said, a sly glint in his eyes. "Let's see what these 'tricks' of yours can do. How about a little… test run?"
He gestured towards the brightly lit Walmart across the street, the bane of his existence for the past few weeks. "That place," he continued, "is overflowing with supplies. Enough to fill myself ten life times over. But those security scanners… you know the drill."
The challenge hung in the air, a silent dare. Zhang Yi knew the frustration of those pesky scanners, the constant battle between his infinite storage ring and the store's security measures. He watched Ajay closely, gauging his reaction.
Ajay's response, however, wasn't what Zhang Yi expected. A hearty laugh boomed through the grimy alley, echoing off the brick walls.
"Stealing supplies from Walmart? Now that's a test I can get behind!" he exclaimed, wiping a tear from his eye.
Zhang Yi blinked, surprised by the amusement in Ajay's voice. "You… you're not worried? Those scanners are serious business, man."
Ajay simply chuckled. "Relax, my friend. Consider it a… magic show, just for you."
He straightened his posture, a mischievous glint returning to his eyes. "Alright, Walmart, here we come. Prepare to be amazed… or thoroughly confused, whichever works for you."
Intrigue battled with skepticism in Zhang Yi's mind. This guy was either incredibly confident in his abilities or completely delusional. Either way, Zhang Yi couldn't help but feel a flicker of excitement. Maybe, just maybe, Ajay was the real deal. He followed Ajay across the street, his gaze fixed on the imposing blue facade of Walmart, a silent observer about to witness the effectiveness of Ajay's "magic."
( General pov )
A devious grin stretched across Ajay's face as Zhang Yi proposed his little "test." Stealing supplies from Walmart? It was child's play compared to the ordeals he'd faced in his previous life. But the real prize wasn't the merchandise itself – it was the opportunity to showcase his abilities and further solidify his trustworthiness in Zhang Yi's eyes.
However, simply waltzing in and teleporting things into his personal dimension wouldn't do. He needed to maintain the illusion of "magic" while also keeping his true abilities under wraps. Besides, a little chaos wouldn't hurt.
(Internal Monologue: Two birds, one stone. Show off a bit, snag some extra supplies for my own haven, all while keeping this walking storage ring happy.)
With a sly wink at Zhang Yi, Ajay announced, "Alright, but first, a little preparation is key." He slipped into a nearby convenience store, emerging moments later with a suspicious-looking canister and a cheap masquerade mask.
Zhang Yi raised an eyebrow. "Anesthetic gas and a mask? This your idea of a magic trick?"
Ajay chuckled, a low rumble that sent shivers down the alleyway. "Think of it as… misdirection. A little showmanship never hurts, right?" He explained his plan in hushed tones – how the gas would temporarily knock out any unsuspecting employees, allowing them to operate freely within the store. The mask, of course, was to conceal Ajay's identity during the operation.
Zhang Yi, despite his initial skepticism, couldn't help but be impressed by Ajay's resourcefulness. This guy was definitely no stranger to unconventional methods. A grudging respect began to bloom in his chest.
With the plan in motion, Ajay and Zhang Yi crossed the street, their steps purposeful under the cloak of night. Ajay, disguised by the mask and a casual air of confidence, activated the gas canister with a practiced flick of his wrist. A faint, sweet scent wafted through the air, and within minutes, the telltale silence from within Walmart confirmed its effectiveness.
A mischievous glint shone in Ajay's eyes as he pushed open the automatic doors, the familiar scent of plastic and cleaning products assaulting his senses. "Alright, Zhang Yi," he announced with a theatrical flourish, "showtime!"
Ajay held the canister of anesthetic gas, his grin hidden beneath the cheap masquerade mask. Glancing at Zhang Yi, he gave a silent nod. Working together, they snuck around the back of the Walmart, locating the air intake vents. With practiced ease, Ajay popped the top off the canister, replacing it with a modified adapter he'd fashioned moments before.
(Internal Monologue: Thanks to my fire dragon magic, a little heat manipulation makes these DIY projects a breeze.)
A barely audible hiss filled the air as Ajay activated the modified canister. The anesthetic gas, carefully diluted for maximum effect and minimal harm, began its journey through the building's ventilation system. Minutes ticked by, tension thick in the air.
A flicker of movement within the store caught Zhang Yi's eye. A lone security guard, oblivious to the silent infiltration, yawned and stretched, his movements becoming progressively sluggish. Success.
A thumbs-up from Ajay confirmed their silent plan. They crept closer, Zhang Yi peering through the darkened glass doors. "Everyone's out cold," he whispered, his voice tinged with awe.
"Night vision, huh?" Ajay chuckled, his voice muffled by the mask. "More like something a little more… permanent." He explained how his fire dragon magic, while not exactly "night vision," heightened his senses, allowing him to navigate the darkened store with ease.
Zhang Yi whistled in appreciation. This "power" was starting to sound a lot less like parlor tricks and more like genuine superpowers.
Next came the tricky part – disabling the security systems. Luckily, during his previous life, Ajay had spent a considerable amount of time learning the art of bypassing security measures (desperate times call for desperate measures, after all).
Following a mental map he'd hastily constructed after a quick scan of the store's layout, Ajay led the way, his senses guiding him through the maze of aisles. They reached the electrical panel, a symphony of blinking lights and humming transformers. With practiced fingers, Ajay found the breaker for the security cameras, plunging the store into complete darkness (except for Ajay, of course).
"Alright, Zhang Yi," Ajay announced, his voice echoing in the dark, "Showtime's over. Let's get to work."
Together, they navigated the darkened aisles, Zhang Yi filling his infinite storage with a fervor fueled by both necessity and a newfound respect for Ajay's abilities. Their movements were a silent ballet under the cloak of darkness, a testament to their unlikely partnership.
As the first streaks of dawn painted the sky, Zhang Yi, his ring bulging with supplies, cast Ajay a surprised glance.
"You know," he said, a grudging respect in his voice, "For a guy who just wants to lounge around, you're surprisingly efficient."
Ajay simply smirked, a hint of fire dancing in his eyes momentarily concealed by the mask. The real test, however, was yet to come. The supplies were merely a means to an end. The true purpose, the reason Ajay had orchestrated this little heist, lay within his own personal dimension, a secret waiting to be unveiled.
Five more Walmarts fell to their combined might, a whirlwind of masked efficiency. And Ajay to got 3 full supply warehouse for himself Zhang Yi, fueled by a newfound respect for Ajay's skills and a desperate hunger to stockpile supplies. Ajay, on the other hand, seemed less interested in sheer quantity, opting for a more strategic selection – low or high powered electronics , scientific equipment, a lot of games and power generators powered by gasoline or hydrogen . He also stole a hydrogen creation plant which was shocking as the whole plant vanished which Zhang Yi couldn't do oddly enough, a rather extensive collection of cookbooks.
As the first rays of dawn kissed the horizon, casting an exhausted orange glow over their final haul, they decided to part ways for the time being. Zhang Yi, his eyes bloodshot from a night of looting and strategizing, clapped Ajay on the shoulder.
"Alright, Ajay," he said, a hint of grudging respect in his voice. "You win. I wouldn't have believed it a day ago, but you're alright for a lounging-around kind of guy."
Ajay chuckled, a genuine laugh that crinkled the corners of his eyes. "Likewise, Zhang Yi. You're not half bad for a walking warehouse."
The compliment hung in the air for a moment, a tentative bridge between their very different personalities and hidden motives. But the approaching apocalypse demanded pragmatism over trust.
"So," Zhang Yi continued, his voice turning serious, "when do we meet again? And more importantly, where?"
Ajay, however, tapped his chin thoughtfully. "Meeting again… hmm, how about we leave it to fate? Besides, you have your preparations for the storm . Let's just say, when the real mess hits, you'll know where to find me."
His words were cryptic, but laced with a confidence that sparked a flicker of curiosity in Zhang Yi's eyes. He wasn't sure if he entirely trusted Ajay, or his motives for this sudden partnership. But for now, a temporary alliance seemed like the best option for survival.
"Alright," Zhang Yi said with a shrug. "See you on the other side, then. Just make sure your little haven has decent Wi-Fi. Gotta stay entertained somehow during the apocalypse, right?"
Ajay's hidden fire dragon grin widened beneath the fading light. "Oh, the entertainment factor," he said, his voice laced with amusement. "Let's just say, my haven has a few… surprises in store. You won't be disappointed."
With that enigmatic parting shot, Ajay turned and melted into the pre-dawn shadows, leaving Zhang Yi standing amidst the deserted street, a strange mix of apprehension and anticipation swirling within him. The world was teetering on the brink of disaster, but for the first time, he wasn't facing it alone. He had an ally, albeit an unconventional one. As he turned towards his own apartment building, a single thought echoed in his mind: just what kind of surprises awaited him in Ajay's presence
Ajay soared through the pre-dawn sky, leaving the bewildered Zhang Yi far behind. The mask, now discarded, hung limply in his hand, a reminder of the charade he'd just pulled off. A satisfied smirk played on his lips. The "looting spree" had been a success, not just for the supplies, but for solidifying his partnership with Zhang Yi.
But the real work was just beginning. Glancing down at the small buildings from the sky . With a whoosh of displaced air, he vanished, reappearing moments later above a deserted, tropical island. His speed was somewhere between Mark 7 and 10
This was was perfect for his farm . But a lot of work was in place that's where his 3rd gift came in handy " shadows" which allowed him to make sentient shadows like shadow monarch he can control every shadow that the world creates so common people's shadow was now in his control .
Taking half of the shadow doesn't effect at all since it could regenerate itself . His idea was to make 100s of shadow work on his farm day and night and let it stock pile . And since it was his dimension nutrition would never lack for the soil to regenerate.
With a thought, he initiated the transfer sequence. The verdant island, complete with its lush vegetation, pristine beaches, and vibrant coral reefs, shimmered momentarily before disappearing entirely. It now resided within his personal dimension, another piece of his grand design.
This wasn't just any island, though. Ajay repeated the process five more times, meticulously selecting diverse landscapes – a towering mountain range, he even added domestic animals such as cows , sheep , goat , dogs , fish was a challenging task but then he came up with a brilliant idea to make giant pool the size no one has ever seen in his dimension he used a shadow and his imagination to make a giant pool the size of a football stadium and then transfer a whole lot of fish to his pool since 1 wasn't enough he made several dozens , each a carefully chosen component of his ultimate haven.
Of course, paradise required a little… maintenance. He couldn't exactly spend his days lounging around while robots toiled away. With a sly grin, he accessed a hidden compartment in the stolen money stack from the bank raid (a little payback for the inconvenience in the apocalypse ) he bought the apartment next door to Zhang yi and contacted the same company Zhang yi contacted to convert his apartment into an iron fortress which could even withstand a nuclear blast .
In the outside world, to not raise flags he did same to a few other places in the city . Which cost him a lot but to everyone else he was just some rich guy spoiling himself .
Ajay, the guy reborn, the architect of paradise, chuckled to himself. Yes, while Zhang Yi prepared for the geomagnetic storm, Ajay would be busy constructing his ultimate haven, a world within a world, ready to weather any apocalypse. He couldn't wait to see the look on Zhang Yi's face when he finally got to experience it. The question remained, though, would their newfound partnership survive the revelation of Ajay's true motives and the secrets hidden within his dimension?
