Sutton Price
Earlier…
Sutton struggled to eat dinner without revealing how nervous she was. Meeting him beforehand wasn't a part of the arrangement. It was supposed to be a first for both of them. Jacob had cheated.
She deserved a standing ovation for the way she had picked her jaw off the floor, with no one noticing as soon as she saw him.
Dinner went by in a pleasant flash. Everyone was on their best behaviour, like they all truly wanted this to work—for selfish reasons, of course. But Sutton knew her stance on the matter, and it wasn't wavering. Her parents' mischievous acts irked her. They had dragged all attention to her at dinner, gushing about her throughout. Abraham and her uncle had bragged about her educational honours, making it seem like she was a bookworm with no life. She didn't know why it bothered her, but she cared about making a good impression on her soon-to-be husband.
