Sutton Price
Sutton was done with her first class for the day and, just as she was packing up her materials while students shuffled around to leave, her eyes found the cut on her palm. A knife had sliced through the skin of her left hand earlier. She had also seen a black bird perch outside her window that morning. The feeling that something bad was about to happen gnawed at her heart.
"Let me have the charger." Her student's aide hurried to her side with her request. She smiled at him and nodded her thanks. Sutton threw it into her bag. Her phone rang and she picked it from the table. It was her mother. That was weird. Emily knew better than to call her at a time like this because she would definitely be occupied with lectures. It was a plus that the class ended a bit earlier than normal.
"José?" she called while hitting the answer button.
"Yes, ma'am?" He looked from behind the speakers.
