Over the last five years, Emily has altered her appearance. First, she dyes her hair blonde from its originally dark colour. Then learns to be right-handed. In the past, she did not go out on many occasions with her late parent since they wanted her to have a normal childhood, but that did not mean her picture from five years ago could not easily be found. Although, Jude has done everything to make the photos disappear from the internet.
Emily continued to stare at the handsome man in front of her. Her lips slightly parted. Looking at the man was sending her a familiar warmth that she could not explain.
His blue eyes reminded her of the sky, her best companion when she thinks of her Family and the darkness that haunted her since their death. Swallowing hard, she looked away, realizing she had been staring too long.
"I am so sorry," she muttered before walking away as fast as her feet could carry her. She did not even wait for the person's response. Her heart was slamming hard against her chest. She could not explain why her heart rate increased suddenly from looking into the eyes of that man. For a minute, she totally forgot she was angry.
Why? This was a new feeling, but Emily knew that she liked it. After feeling empty for so long, it was the first time she had a different emotion apart from anger and the drive to take revenge.
How could looking at a stranger give her such feelings, she wondered. She did not even get the opportunity to know his name. She totally embarrassed herself, staring into the man's eyes for such a long time. She did not even have the chance to look at his other future; how disappointing, she sighed.
"Ahh! what am I thinking? I should be embarrassed looking at him for that long," Emily scolded herself as she got out of the building. If not for the fact that she still wanted to take her revenge, she would have locked herself for a long time to wash away her embarrassment.
"That was Eric Brown," Kevin informed her since he guesses she did not recognize the man. However, he was not surprised by the starring competition that the two had some minutes ago. After all, Eric was known for his charms.
He only hopes that his boss will not become a hopeless romantic and drag him into her fantasy instead of concentrating on their Job. Eric has become the most sort after bachelor ever since he stepped forward to become the CEO Of ABM.
Emily immediately choked on her saliva and started coughing when she heard what Kevin said. She was just thinking of meeting him again and hoping he did not work for the Browns. And now he turned out to be a member of the Family. Precisely the son of her enemy.
In the past, she had disregarded Jude's instruction to get to know the members of the Brown family this was because she felt that if she saw them happy, she might lose her rationality and do something stupid, but now she realized it would have saved her from this awkward situation. or maybe not, since she was carried away looking at his eyes.
Ah! Today could not get any worst. So she was about to fall head over heels for one of the Browns. "What on earth was he doing in front of the elevator anyway?" she asked herself when she managed to stop coughing.
"Are you okay, ma?" Kevin asked. Handing her a bottle of water.
Emily collected the water and nodded her head; she did not dare say a word, afraid that she may start coughing again if she spoke. Kevin opened the door to the car that was already waiting at the front of the building. Emily got into the car, thankful that she would not have to work with ABM. Imagine having to see that face often. She would surely keep embarrassing herself.
"No, no, what am I thinking? He is the enemy," Emily corrected her thought. Emily believes that she will not get so attracted next time after knowing his identity.
"Time for plan B," Emily whispered to herself as she sat on the passage seat, looking like she was playing with her phone casually.
....
On the other hand, Eric looked at the retreating figure until she disappeared outside the building. He came down to the lobby on purpose to meet Emily. He wanted to see the look on her face. At least there was a need to study the character of his opponent.
He knew that the information gathered about a person's personality was not hundred percent accurate, so he wanted to access her himself, after all, he believes in his ability to read through people.
He cancelled the collaboration because he wanted to see how Stem would manage some setbacks.
He deliberately steps on her part, so they can bump into each other. He wanted to take the opportunity to look into her eyes. The eyes never lie, unlike the lips that could put on a smile, even in the worst moments. But what he saw was different. Once her brown eyes looked into his eyes, he found his heart slamming fast against his chest. Even the touch of her body sent a shiver through his spine.
Her voice sounded like music in his ears, and for a second, he felt tongue-tied, not knowing how to respond to her apology. He also noticed her slightly parted lips, and he felt like having a taste of them since they looked like raspberry, which is his favourite.
Ahh! Eric could not remember when last he embarrassed himself by losing composure. Luckily Emily looked away; who knows the nonsense he was about to blabber.
"How embarrassing that would have been; I only hope she did not get the wrong impression of me," Eric thought. He was never someone who cared about the impression he left on others, but he did not want to have a bad one with her.
The feeling he felt a few moments ago was strange to him. No woman has ever made him feel that way. Not even the countless numbers of women that have been to his bed. He wasn't a womanizer, but the ladies kept throwing themselves at him.
He was a man who never bothered about controlling himself when any of the ladies caught his fantasy. But the attraction he felt just now was different. Even if he did not understand it, he knew that much.
*sigh, * it is unfortunate that she might be an enemy," Eric thought.
