Chereads / The Demon Hybrid / Chapter 7 - Thunderstorm

Chapter 7 - Thunderstorm

Hunter and Isabelle left for the class together and she tried her best to calm her heart since she knew that Hunter would be hearing it. She tried her best but it only worsened it but that didn't stop her from trying. As they were walking to their next class, everybody has their eyes on Hunter but he was not phased by it. He has always been the center of attention, either by his good looks or his strength, so he has gotten used to it. Isabelle on the other hand was new to this but the eyes looking at them didn't affect her as much as Hunter walking beside her.

"You are cute when you blush." Isabelle's eyes widened at Hunter's word and it deepened her blush and she wondered why he didn't keep it to himself.

"I am just shy, cause I have never had this much attention." She cleared her throat and spoke half the truth.

"Oh," he looked around like he was just noticing it "well, you still are cute."

"We're here." The door opened automatically as Isabelle was just about to open it. It never happened before, none of the classes doors are that weak. One has to push it for it to open, even a gust of wind can't open it that easily. It dawned on her the reason why the door suddenly flung open. She looked back at Hunter and he just shrugged, Isabelle felt the string of her heart being pulled by the impression. They entered and Hunter sat behind her again, she made a mental note to sit behind next time. This class was also the same as the last, Isabelle couldn't concentrate and she kept scowling at the girls looking at Hunter. Some even winked at him, can you imagine the audacity, Isabelle killed them a thousand times in a million ways in her mind.

They were having lunch and Silas was not there yet. Hunter and Jacob decided to join Isabelle and her friends. Hunter has shown Isabelle his timetable and he has the same schedule as her. She didn't know if she should be glad or not.

"What are your powers," Amy asked. She had been dying to know.

Hunter just chuckled "Stronger than royals, faster, have control over supernaturals, though I can't do spell I can do some magical stuff and I read mind." he said with that feeling of arrogance he was born with.

"Read mind?" Asked Isabelle.

"Yes, that's normal for Alpha wolves, they can read the mind of their pack members and pass messages to them too." Damian answered. Isabelle was relieved because she didn't like the idea of someone reading her mind.

"So, an Alpha can't read the mind of someone that is not his pack member?" Amy nodded "What of the royals?" She wanted to be sure

"They can only read a pack mind if the Alpha let them, which he will because you can't say no to them," Damian answered. Isabelle felt glad about being human because such things can't happen in the human race.

"What happens if the Alpha refuses or the person in question blocks them off." She has never been more curious about the supernatural than she was today.

"That means you're challenging their authority and they will have to fight you, and you can't win because they're stronger and it is so for every supernatural. Royal wolves have control over wolves, Royal vampires have control over vampires, High order witches have control over witches, and they can only have such control over humans if you join any of them."Amy said clearing Isabelle's thought. She was now happier being a human because their leaders won't have to snoop inside their heads. Jacob waited for them to finish with their explanation before telling them the truth about Hunter.

"Hunter is different," Jacob spoke for the first time since he joined them.

"How?" Damian asked and they were all curious to know

"He doesn't need permission to get inside your head to know what you're thinking, or control you to do his bidding." he looked at Isabelle. He wanted Isabelle to know that her mate is a cut above the rest. "he's that powerful"

"So you mean you can hear my thought?" Damian asked with a smug

"Yes, if I want to, but I don't go around reading people's minds unless it's critical." Hunter paid no attention to them, all in his sight was Isabelle. The sunglasses gave him the perfect opportunity to study her. How she couldn't resist herself from taking a peek at him. How she slowly nibble on her fries.

"So tell me what am I thinking?" Amy asked "I just want to be sure"

Hunter sighed showing he didn't want that. "You're thinking about how cute Damian was when he wore your underwear." he shook his head knowing the thought was a weird one.

"Wow, Jacob was right, he really can read minds." Amy said with admiration.

"Of all things to think about, you chose that?" Damian asked angrily, and Amy apologized then they started their mind conversation.

"So have you read my mind?" Isabelle found herself fidgeting at the thought of Hunter knowing of all the embarrassing things she had been thinking of.

"No, I don't invade people's privacy." He assured her and Isabelle never doubted him.

"Why didn't you come yesterday?" Not that she was curious anymore, she just didn't want the conversation to end. She was reveling that he was no longer behind her but seated in front of her and she could study every bit of him. She was constantly blushing but she didn't mind especially since Hunter said she looked cute while blushing.

"Well I had some business to handle with Jacob," he said, "you have a boyfriend right?" Hunter was mighty curious about her answer. He leaned forward subconsciously.

Silas, Isabelle had forgotten about him "Yeah" she answered and felt her throat dry up. She had never been ashamed to call Silas her boyfriend but right now, she wished Hunter never knew about that. If Amy and Damian weren't seated beside them, she might have lied.

"Where is he?" Why is he curious about him, Isabelle wondered. Before she could answer Silas walked in and sat beside her.

"Hi love," he said and pecked her. Isabelle flinched and moved a bit away from his touch. She did not understand why she felt it was wrong with Hunter around. She looked at him though she couldn't see his eye she noticed his mood changed. Hunter felt it was stupid of him for hiding the truth from Isabelle and not claim her that instant. He hid the truth from her because he didn't want to make her feel pressured and torn between the both of them.

"Hi Hunter, I am Silas," Silas said but didn't even wait for Hunter to reply "hey guys how is ya day" he started talking to Damian and Amy. How rude, as Isabelle was about to caution him the weather changed suddenly, there was thunder and dark clouds started circling.

"It's a thunderstorm," Damian said

"It's magic," Silas said, everybody was looking out through the window but Isabelle was looking at Hunter and having a feeling that she did something bad. Though he was wearing glasses Isabelle knew he was looking at her. She blinked and he was gone, she looked around but couldn't find him. She never knew she would one day hate blinking, she felt if her eyes were forever opened, she wouldn't have missed him.

"He's gone," Jacob said as he stood up and left

The storm quiets down immediately, "Where are they?" Amy asked

"They're gone." Isabelle answered as she felt her heart tighten and tears started flowing. She stood up and left before anybody could notice. She realized it wasn't just a teenage fantasy, she had come to realize that she was falling for Hunter, King of the supernatural, she wondered if she can survive it.
