I did not expect preparation for the journey to be this hectic. After alpha Donovan and His Army attacked, a lot of supplies were destroyed in the battle. Even though I had been preoccupied with fighting alpha Donovan and his daughter, I did not fail to notice how peculiar the battle had seemed. When I was a member of Silverlight Park, I collaborated with Gregory, our head commander in making sure that the path in which the Warriors would go to fight in was well protected and preserved. It was all a matter of strategy and preparation. We needed to make sure that our enemy did not expect such a fierce battle and neither did they expect our backup plans. Alpha Donovan had always taught us to be one step ahead. To evaluate a situation before we take an action.
The question that still plagued my mind was how Alpha Donovan knew about our mission of journeying to the king's palace. There had to be a traitor among us. Someone is taking information to our rival Alpha to get something in return. I highly suspected that it was one of the Wolves that had followed me from the park. alpha Donovan easily manipulated his people to do his dirty bidding. Today however proved to me that he was more than willing to get his hands dirty if it meant doing away with me. this meant that I had to be extra cautious whenever I'm around the Rogues. His determination had honestly scared me. He behaves like a man with nothing to lose.
"The rogues Have assembled near the territory. We are ready to move.'' Came the voice of Isabella as she guided a horse towards the large tree that stood near the clearing.
"They can not be, something isn't right,'' I say to her. I move forward towards the men that were packing the little food remaining. The food stacks were abundant, as though nothing had been destroyed in the fight.
I understood that alpha Donovan will never leave any stone unturned. Whenever he attacked, he always made sure to Cripple his opponents by taking away the supplies that they had. This had to be part of his plan, he was up to something.
"What do you mean, Maria?'' Isabella asked, following up with my pace.
"Listen, The way Alpha Donovan just left me alone after a fierce fight means that he had insurance,'' I said to her. "He needed to have a plan. A bulletproof plan."
"But how? He surrendered because he saw reinforcement coming. He knew they could not win against our rogues.'' isabella argues.
"Look around you,'' I say. "What do you see?''
Isabella is confused, her eyes glance around the rogues. They are happy, laughing around as they drank the remaining booze.
"I see unbothered people. People who are happy. there is nothing wrong. The Alpha and His Army have retreated and the battle is over. Is there something we should be worried about?" Isabella asks.
"That is the problem. the Alpha and his men retreated too soon. I have been one of the best Warriors from alpha Donovan's park for a very long time. I know all his strategies and how he fights the battle. he has never done this. this is a power move.'' I explain.
"So you mean to say that it is not over? you mean to say that he did not Retreat because he saw that this was a battle he could not win?'' Isabella asks.
"If he was interested in crippling our mission, he would have made sure to kill all the horses and steal all the food. he would have injured our people. Everyone is fine. No one has serious injuries. Our food is still enough. And the mission still stands. This is too good to be true. something is not right."
Isabella only places a hand on my shoulder and smiles in a reassuring manner.
