CHAPTER 14 – RAID II
The moment Hero entered the battlefields, every single person looks like they have hope. I don't know for sure if I want to say I am excited to see him in the same way but I am excited. I guess!
Soon after Hero's arrival, he ordered his men to take control of monsters from both of his sides.
"It's nice to see that you are finally here, Hero.", the guild master greets him, as the hero walks beside him on the frontline.
"Don't mention it. It is my duty to protect every single one of you. As long as I am here, I will protect everyone with my own life."
Just when the hero said these words with such passion, even if I had any doubts about him being a hero, it's all clear now.
I should have known that he is supposed to be a cliché character.
Just how can someone say those things with a straight face? I think I puked inside my mouth after hearing this…
*Ahem
Anyway, I hope he can also fight well as much as his speech.
Hero draws his sword in the air as he screams, "Attack! Don't let them pass through us."
Wait, is that also a so-called holy sword? If everything happening as a cliché, then it should be some sort of holy sword.
With the incoming attack of several high-level monsters at once, Hero changes his sword stans as he holds the sword firmly in his right hand.
His swords started to shine in golden color as he dashed toward the monsters taking them down in his own full swing with full strength.
Monsters were slashed in two halves and suddenly they also starts burning with strange light emitting through the slice.
"What was that? Is that the Hero you were looking forward to seeing?", Cho – Hee came behind me as she sees a bright light from this direction.
"Yeah, looks like he also has some so-called holy power as well."
"Holy power? and how did you know that?", Cho – Hee looks at me as she demands the answer right away.
"Oh, it's just I read some fantasy novels back in our world."
"I didn't know that also you read those things."
What does she mean by that? Was she expecting my hobby to be something different?
"Anyway, I think other than Hero, we have also narrowed down the groups of monsters with the help of more personnel. Rest should be easy for other adventurers. "
As for me, I need to check out something that I noticed when Hero took down three high-ranked monsters. Maybe I am imagining but is this presence is getting stronger as he keeps killing on more?
"Where are you leaving for?", Cho – Hee questioned me as I was heading towards Hero and the forest.
"Nothing, there is something I need to take care of. Tell Nick I asked him to take care of things for me."
"Wait, take care of what... and he left.", Cho – Hee sighs as I left without giving a proper answer.
Honestly, I don't understand it myself but what is this weird presence I am detecting and why is Hero not reacting to it? Can't he feel this as well?
As I was just about to reach where Hero is standing, a sudden voice echoed throughout the forest which sounds almost like a battle cry.
"This cry might be enough to wake up this entire forest."
Don't tell me this was just a warmup, and the real battle is about to begin.
Everyone who is low level got paralyzed right away by the sound of the battle cry and one who is still standing was standing behind Hero.
A creature that is too large and can be considered as a giant, a creature that has figures like Orc and holding a big scrap of metal in both hands which looks like swords, came screeching out of the forest.
"An ancient orc king.", someone from the reinforcement party screams out as he trembles and falls to his knees.
"We are no match for him. This guy shouldn't have existed in this era."
As rambling about his existence keeps going on. I wasn't aware at that time, that this guy is capable of mowing down a whole army like mowing down grass in a field.
and the moment I failed to access the situation at that precise moment, The ancient orc king smashed dozens of soldiers with his swords and in a big sweep, he throws everyone in that area far off in a distance.
Everything was going well but now suddenly it feels like someone else rolled the dice and changed the entire course. Even the Hero himself got injured.
"Guild Master, do you perhaps know anything about that guy?", I asked the guild master who was barely able to stand after withstanding the ancient orc king's attack.
"Kid, you are still standing? Aren't you a strong one? ... *pant*... Well, that guy is rumored to be a creature who use to rule in this vast forest long ago. If it's really him, then we are in big trouble."
I looked at the Hero, he is somehow blocking the attack from the ancient orc king with his sword. I couldn't help but look at his left arm which he is unable to use.
Is it broken? Did that happen while he was defending his men earlier?
Damn it...
"He needs to retreat. It will be hard to fight with just a single arm."
"You are right. Kid, can you create an opening so that Hero can escape? We need to buy some ti-", As the Guild master was talking, I ignored him and dashed towards the Hero.
As he was only focused on talking that he didn't realize. The hero might be in more danger because that thing still has another arm that is aimed toward the hero.
There is no time to talk with the guild master as he is only wasting my time.
Shit, there is really no time.
I used the full power of my agility 100 and covered the distance in the blink of an eye. At just about the right time, I was able to block that thing's attack from another arm with my sword right when it was about to hit the hero's head.
"Hey there, Do you need a hand here?"
Hero didn't ask anything as he is aware that he is in bad shape, even if he is confused, he needs some help because things aren't in under control anymore.
"If you are willing to help then please."
As the hero said, we both used our full power to break his balance and immobilize it. The ancient orc king immediately falls on his back as he lost his balance.
"Alvin, will you be able to take care of that thing?", Cho – Hee arrives with others as they were concerned about me.
"Yes, as we deal with this guy. Help to evacuate injured ones first then ones who are still able to move, ask them to lend you hand."
"Very well, make sure to not overdo it."
Now might be the perfect time to go all out. I don't know if this will work but as long as I can visualize it correctly then maybe it should work.
"Hero, can you buy me a minute please."
"Alright, I will try my best…",
As the hero keep that thing in check, I closed my eyes and focused my mana gathering in my left hand as an earth spell starts forming in the shape of a sword. I then initiated another mana movement but this time I focused on both of my hands as a fire spell.
A blazing pale blue flame engulfs the blades of both the earth spell and the real sword.
"Wait, is that real fire?", As in awe hero was. I had prepared that I'll take this guy just on my own.
"Duck.", Hero unconsciously ducked.
I used his back to leap even higher. With my full strength, I crushed the entire sword of earth spell on top ancient orc king's head. Then use my real sword to make a big swing to cut that thing's head off.
"Is it over?", Hero asked nervously.
As the smokes caused by my flame and earth spell got cleared. The head of the Ancient Orc King was lying there on the ground.
"I guess it is over for real now."
Sigh… I taking my day off tomorrow for sure.
