Chapter 41 - chapter 41 Attack

However, the Demons from the Twilight Zone were so incredibly powerful that their return to earth could result in a huge uproar, not only on Earth but also in the Immortal World. The matter could then easily escalate to the level of a war between the Worlds again which neither party intended at the moment.

The only way for Ge Kai to bring the terrifying demons, he had recruited at the cost of most of the treasures that he was going to loot from Zhang Jian's house, was to arrange for an independent space within the bounds of the Earth.

This was only possible if he had the help of some of the most heaven-defying treasures of the Immortal World related to the spatial techniques. For example the Void sand and fantasy stone together were used to create storage spaces such as small dimensional pockets but the materials were so expensive and so rare that they could never be obtained by Ge Kai even at the cost of all that he owned.

Similarly, the stomach of the Heaven Devouring Beast could be used as an independent space since it had an entire dimension inside its stomach but the beast had gone extinct a long time ago and the only materials still in circulation had already reached powerful hands.

As such the only solution that was still available to Ge Kai was to steal the sect treasure of the Purple sect called the Dragon Sword. The sword had the ability to send the space into chaos around it for very long durations which could help them avoid the prying eyes and ears. The Immortal cultivators or the guardians of earth would never be able to monitor the region where space was already in chaos.

Now that Ge Kai had reached the conclusion that the only way for him to create an independent space for holding the demons from the Twilight Zone was to obtain the Dragon Sword from the Purple sect, he started to work on devising a pragmatic scheme to do so.

Ge Kai had already sent out scouts to determine the location of the sword and was happy to know that the sword had never left the bounds of the sect. He had hoped that the sword would still be in the sect. If it were in the hands of Zhang Jian like the Purple Sapphire, Ge Kai would have never gone to the Twilight Zone to ask for help.

The Dragon Sword had been passed on by Xiao Luo to the new leader of the Purple Sect, Long Yi, who carried it all times on his person. Ge Kai was being extremely cautious of Zhang Jian since he had previously taken interest in the matters of the Purple sect when Lin Xi had attacked it otherwise he would already have attacked the Purple sect and razed it to the ground in his quest to obtain the Dragon Sword.

Since he couldn't attack the purple sect directly, he had to wait for an opportunity to settle the matter in a matter of moments. A silent blitzkrieg attack was the only option that did not involve the risk of alerting Zhang Jian and therefore, Ge Kai had asked for the help of the higher-ups in setting up a diversion.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Powerful demons from the Demon World had overrun the cultivators who were hell bent on defending their sect. Blood splattered everywhere and the screams and wails of the cultivator filled the air.

These cultivators would have never thought that the day would turn into the mayhem that they were involved in at that moment.

Cultivators were almost immortal yet they also had the shortest lives when it came to battles between the cultivators or with demons. Most of the battles between cultivators would be the result of enmities that could not be solved without the death of one of the involved parties. Slightest provocation could result in a bruised ego because the power of cultivators was usually accompanied by a mountain of self-respect and ego.

Yet, the cultivators were fighting today not for a bruised ego, or to avenge a previous enmity but in order to survive. A group of demons had descended on to their sect out of nowhere when every one of them was going about their daily businesses without a stint.

The demons had given them no reason and had started massacring the innocent cultivators from the Eastern Clan. Despite being one of the major clans of the Earth, they could not respond in time which led to serious casualties in the very beginning.

The whole sect was caught off guard and the delay in the arrival of the most powerful cultivators of the sect that is the elders was the reason of such massive casualties.

The first to arrive on the scene was the sect leader of the Eastern Clan who had rushed over as soon as he heard fighting in the vicinity of the sect. Though he lived in a secluded cave behind the mountain range that the sect was built upon, he was used to keeping watch over the sect from there.

As soon as he came into view of the most hellish scene he had ever seen, his eyes turned bloodshot and he almost went berserk in his fury. He took out his Mountain Splitting Divine Saber and slashed at the nearest demon before moving towards the next one.

After he had passed by the next demon, the demon that had suffered the previous attack slowly split into two before falling on the floor lifeless.

Wu Wei was soon covered with the blood of all the demons that he had slain. He had practically waded through the river of blood and organs to save his Eastern Clan disciples.

The blood kept on accumulating with every new strike and countless demons fell at every swing of his saber. It was both domineering and sad because he had arrived late and had almost failed to save the last embers of the Eastern Clan. If he had been a little later, he might have been the only one that remained from the Eastern Clan.

Wu Wei could already see his disciples diminishing by the moment which pushed him further away from the edge and his sanity gave out. He burned both his spirit energy and his blood essence to attack the more powerful demons without any care for his own life. His blood spilled as a fountain as he continued to get tired after having fought continuously.

Wu Wei was a smart man and he had already known that there was a scheme behind the attack as he had been unable to find a single commanding figure among the people were found on the battlefield. They had to be somewhere close by yet he had been unable to get a clue about their whereabouts.

It had only been a matter of time before Wu Wei became ridden with so many bone deep injuries that it was harder to figure out whether he still had some place that remained unaffected.

It was a self-mutilating method of fighting one's enemy but Wu Wei had already begun to act like a maddened bull that had seen red.

World-Serpent, who was the commander of the demonic horde, had all this while been watching from a place at a considerable distance from the battlefield. Along with some of the more powerful demons, it had been waiting to complete the task that had been given to it by the higher-ups and that was to draw out Xiao Luo by attacking the Eastern Clan and pushing them into dire straits.

As expected, when the Eastern Clan was desperate to survive, Wu Wei had already requested the help of Xiao Luo and his Purple Sect in order to handle the crisis of the Eastern Clan.

The only agenda that Wu Wei had at the moment was to hold on for as long as he could until help arrived in the form of reinforcements from the Purple Sect. What he didn't know was that the commander of the opposing forces was also looking for the same thing. World-serpent wanted Xiao Luo to come help the Eastern Clan which would give him the time to sweep the Purple sect without giving them any time to resist.

As soon as the World-Serpent received the information that Xiao Luo had left the Purple sect along with the senior disciples of the sect, he immediately handed over the command of the demonic horde over to the Scorpion.

There was a slight disturbance in space and the World-Serpent had left towards the Purple sect at his fastest speed. It did not want to miss the window of opportunity that had been placed in front of it.

Xiao Luo had known that the battle to come would be very hard for him and the senior disciples of the sect since the same horde had been able to covertly take care of the Eastern Clan.

Although Eastern Clan was weaker than the Purple sect, it was by no means considered a weak sect on earth. Keeping this in view, Xiao Luo decided to leave the painting that he had received from Zhang Jian with Long Yi as a safeguard against the enemies of the Purple sect who might consider taking advantage of his absence.
