Chapter 13 - Don't Push Me

Nadia got her jacket and just took it from the host who brought it out for her. She just grabbed it and left the place at a hard walk. Her heels did not allow her to move as fast as she liked. However she did walk with her head up and defiance written on her face. Clearly a woman that was angry and daring the world to throw something more at her.

"My life is not some story for entertainment." She grumbled to herself. You know what, whatever. Second Xyle was really starting to really piss her off. Especially the fact he might have been right about the original direction of her life. Where would this have gone if she hadn't met him? Would she have gone home with Vincent? Jesus, what if she had been one of those stories she got pregnant by some guy on a one night stand. Nadia pushed the thought away, no that wasn't how it was going to go. She refused to believe that she'd have been that person, so careless.

"I take it you are going to try and ignore me now." She'd felt him coming, but he was silent as always. Nadia stopped for a second as she entered the parking area. She glared at him with a slight shake of her head and a rush of air. She moved forward.

"You had no right to do that." Nadia said.

"Of course I did, you are my mate. You are lucky I allowed it to go that long." She was lucky he didn't kill the man out of spite. Believe it or not he was controlling himself rather well. It was hard but he was doing it honestly for her sake. He knew if he acted how he would have in his world, Nadia would probably hate him and be fearful. She was forgetting the animal he was.

"Allowed it? You going to start telling me what I am allowed to do now Xyle? Jump into my life and think you can run it." He narrowed his gaze at the back of her head.

"Just the men you think to keep company with." He stated and she grumbled something that he could not understand. Nadia came up to her car pulling her key and unlocking it. He reached, putting a hand on the top of the door and keeping her from opening it. She thought about jabbing the crook of his arm to make him drop it from the door.

"Let go Xyle." Nadia said in a controlled voice looking over her silver car and not at him. They were between her car and another, the space was small. One she didn't want to look at him, and two he would feel like he was taking up all her space. As it was, he was close enough that she could almost feel the heat of his body. His scent sure was there.

"No, you and I need to have a chat. You run off, you won't listen." Nadia turned her head and met his light green gaze. Her grey ones narrowed.

"There is no talking, it's just you telling me." He clenched his jaw clearly very annoyed at her assessment. Nadia noted that he was clean and shaved, had new clothes. It made her wonder who else he'd been using that voice of his on.

"You forget my choices were taken from me too. This doesn't have to be hard, you are making it that way." Nadia turned and faced him.

"So now you get to take mine?" She snapped at him. "Now you get to dictate my fate!"

"No!" He nearly shouted at her. It shocked her a bit, that was a first. He was getting angry with this. He'd not raised his voice, just got a dark tone. She saw the sharp breath he took in and pulled back that anger.

"No. You," He pointed nearly touching her shoulder. "Are angry at realizing that perhaps someone might be controlling things. I am just the face that showed you we never really know if we are the story or making the story. That's what you are most angry about. Something neither of us have control of." Nadia was aware that yes, that was part of it.

"Maybe, but now it's not. What if he is the one I am supposed to be with and you changed that? You don't get the right to tell me no, who I am meant for. If I want to go back there and to him you don't have a right to stop me. If I'd rather mate with him over you, that's my choice." That was the wrong thing to say to him. Nadia gave a slight shocked sound as his one hand came up and was buried in her hair a moment later. A near harsh grip, his other hand curved around the front of her throat keeping her head tipped up. His eyes were solid black and a slight twist to his features. She was not going back to that man, no male would have her but him. How dare she threaten such a thing.

"No one else was ever meant for you Nadia." He said dangerously and stepped forward. She went back swallowing at the dark gaze that made her heart beat fast and hard.

"It never would have taken my suggestion if he was the real one meant for you." Xyle said it with conviction. Story or no, this was now their life. His mate was pushing him to a very dangerous edge. Did she think what he said was a joke? From the first meeting he'd been showing her he'd do whatever it took. She was making it difficult, she didn't love that man. She was just mad and while he might have a part in her fate change, this was still their fate together. He would have his mate.

"Xyle," Nadia started and she did feel some fear. He was far stronger than her and while he wasn't hurting her, his grip could become painful. She felt the wall hit her back and the hand in her hair left it. His body came flush against hers. His one hand was still half around her throat, his thumb pushed under her jaw to keep her looking up.

"You can't know that's true." She more whispered, his face was very close to hers.

"Yes, I do. This can't be changed now." He was incredibly tense and trying to control himself some. He didn't want to hurt her, but he was filled with such intense emotions that he didn't trust himself. He needed to make sure that Nadia had no real escape from this. That she knew it was real, she was his soul mate. The pain they would both feel if she tried to reject him and go to another was not something he wanted to feel. He'd had his share of pain, and he was fucking tired of it.

"What are you doing?" Nadia breathed in a rush as he lowered his head to her throat. She shivered a bit as his lips skimmed the fast beating pulse in her neck. He traced it up before his mouth brushed her jaw.

"Marking you." He growled it into her ear. Nadia didn't get to say anything. In the next second he dropped his head and sank his teeth into her hard. Nadia never felt such white hot burning pain. The rush that hit her nearly made her go to her knees. Her one hand bit into his shoulder and the other got a hard grip in his hair.
