Chapter 17 - Dangerous Characters

"It smells of that foul animal. He's been here." Kane said standing in the kitchen. His eyes were red in color peering about the place. Faint scars on his neck and cheek could be seen. His skin very pale with a mess of thick black hair. His hands had claws and he wore rather refined clothes. Next to him Adrellie looked about the kitchen, same red eyes, hair color, but long, with similar features. She raised a delicate eyebrow.

"So this is the new story." She hissed a bit. "This is a human's house, but it does not smell like witch." She commented glancing at the computer and the white screen. What kind of magic was this? She didn't like it.

"Our author is not a witch. However we can't wait around for her if those hybrids are with her. We will have to find a way to get to her." Kane felt his skin crawl in this house, the scent of those mangy hybrids was in here and he hated it. Hated more that Xyle's death had been robbed of him. He was going to find Laural and make her finish the story the way it was supposed to be.

"You know brother," Adrellie said moving forward and glancing about curling a lip. Disgusting, humans were just toys. She was angry having found out one had been writing her fate. "I don't sense much magic here at all. Nothing in the air." Kane looked at her and then seemed to think.

"Maybe we should think about what the hybrids clearly have. Imagine a world with no defenses against our kind." Kane gave a slight dark smile. There was one way of looking at it, perhaps being pulled out was a blessing. After all she was right there really wasn't much in the air. This might be a very easy world to take control.

"I like how you think Adrellie. However we still have three major issues to deal with." He more grumbled. He looked at the computer, this thing was important. He debated with himself though. He'd been burned by magical items before. You should tread lightly with them.

"Do you want to take it?" Adrellie asked reaching to touch the keyboard but stopped. She felt this cramp go up her hand. Adrellie was not a fan or magic at all.

"Character recognition Kane. Character recognition Adrellie." A dialogue box opened and the two stared at it. The did not expect the thing to react or speak.

"All commands locked to author. Interview will end if removed from leads' control." They both were taken back by the automated voice. Adrellie frowned. What was this thing?

"Interview ends, does this revert back to original story?" Kane asked feeling a glee there. He'd kill Xyle then. Just one brother was good enough for him at the moment. They both knew the dangerous spin it would send Zyer into.

"Interview ends, all data will be erased. System will wipe clean if forced stop or disruption of interview." Well that wasn't what they wanted. That meant all stories saved on this thing from the sound of it. Adrellie moved and put a hand on Kane's arm when he moved to touch it. To see if he could scroll up on it.

"Wait Kane. Don't touch it. It reminds me of an oracle, oracles should never be played with." Adrellie saw the darker look come over Kane's face. She didn't like it either, but in their world an oracle was an object of very elemental and dangerous magic. This thing clearly had some form of control over all the characters written in it. Best to not screw with it for now. Best to leave it in the author's hands. They were aware how bad messing with fate was, after all their worst enemy had been created because of others screwing with fate.

"Fine, let it record. It won't change me tearing out Xyle's throat." Kane snapped. His hatred for Xyle was more than Zyer in all honesty.

Kane moved toward the door, he wasn't stupid. They weren't staying here, they had been pulled out. Didn't mean they wanted to talk to anyone. They too hated the ups and downs of the original story. The fight for power in the plot, and being the villain it rarely ended in their favor. So this was a chance for them to get it this way too. This one was very skewed in their favor to take control power wise. They'd have to figure out a safe place to go first. If there were any with true magic here, any other true enemies. Which it did not seem like it but the three that came from their original story. Quite the mundane world was what it felt like. Easy prey.

"Sun rise feels a ways off. Though I'm not sure." Adrellie commented following her brother and glancing back at the computer. They were not attuned to this solar cycle yet. That meant they had to adjust or they were at a disadvantage to the hybrids that did not have to fear the height of the sun. They didn't even know how potent this sun was to them, always pick your battles wisely in her opinion.

"Then we will use the hours of darkness to find safety." He made a motion with his hand and the door opened. Kane walked out, his gaze narrowed and was down the steps. He did however want to still kill the two brothers. Now the two didn't have a pack or others backing them. He hated how well they had managed to fight him before. The light scaring on his face was from Xyle, and oh he wanted to tear the son of a bitch limb from limb.

"I still want what I said Kane." Adrellie said narrowing her eyes at the back of Kane's head. "I want Zyer as my pet, and I want to watch his whore's blood coat the ground." Adrellie had been so close to getting Zyer in the collar she wanted around his throat. Then that little mortal bitch showed. Adrellie's obsession with him had been ever since the attempt to exterminate the original town he was from. He'd been the only one that ever denied her advances. Denied the allure she had and looked at her like she was less. She wanted to teach him where he belonged, on a chain doing his master's bidding.

"We will get it sister, first we must see to our defenses and then we will focus on puppets to use. This story will end the same as the last, fate is a hard thing to escape and they can't possible break it so easily." After all the two of them were the elders of their kind, and they were not simple creatures to kill. Older than either of the brothers if they did not have the sun as a weakness they'd have killed them long ago.

"Good, and then we will make sure to get Laural under lock and key. She will write what we need with that oracle. We will teach her what it really means to be at another's mercy." Kane's voice was dark with a wicked intent. He could also feel his hunger growing, and he would not deny himself draining the life of the first mortal that crossed his path. He'd feed them pain, and he bet their screams would be sweet.

"Excellent." Adrellie said her thoughts were the same as her brother's and she could not wait to start tearing the prey in this world apart. There was no question that the two of them planned to see this story written their way. The best way to do so was to destroy your opposition. Something the two of them were very good at.
