It had already been a week, Akira had made a habit of cultivating near the waterfall because it was much more calming and peaceful, there also seemed to be a stronger source of qi there for some reason.
These couple of days, Akira had created a skill that could help him in killing things. Although he of course did not like killing, it was inevitable. To live, he must kill. A theory from the earth also applied here, and that was to kill or be killed.
While initially thinking of creating this skill, Akira knew that he needed something sharp that also moved fast. A blade made of wind was perfect in his mind. It was sharp and also quick. Akira quickly went to work on forming the skill.
He first tried to condense air itself to form a blade, but all that did was heat up the air in his palm causing him to be slightly burned. That was not the correct way to go. Akira then thought back to his science class on earth. Winds and currents were created by hot and cold air colliding with each other. He was surprised he remembered such a thing.
The only way he could think of creating cold wind at the moment was to blow on the condensed air but that made it even hotter. He was quite confused at that moment until he realized that movement was the main thing that cooled the air down, so this time he decided to move the air itself while condensing it at the perfect speed. On doing this, a blade of wind formed on his hand.
He then created 4 more wind blades all around him. They were formed according to his imagination and they were quite sharp already. Of course, he knew that as his control of qi evolved his skills would also evolve.
It seemed that the max he could make at once without completely depleting his qi ocean was 5. After making the wind blades, he fired them at a tree that was around 20 feet away. The wind blade quickly flew and hit the tree, leaving a mark that was about 6 inches deep. It was definitely a good skill, much better than a little knife.
He then shot the other 4 at different distances and measured their power. At 50 feet, the mark was about 3 inches deep. At 10 feet the mark was 8 inches deep, at 100 feet the mark was 1 inch deep and at the 5 feet, the mark was an entire 10 inches deep. The results gave Akira a delightful surprise.
After acquiring the wind blade skill, Akira cultivated without many distractions for an entire week. He was now at the 3rd stage of the qi refinement realm. This was absolutely unheard of anywhere on the planet, great sects and kingdoms would sacrifice many things for such a prodigy.
Compared to creating wind blades in weaker stages, Akira could create many more wind blades in the 3rd stage of qi refinement. When creating them, he also noticed that his control of them had increased significantly. Due to this, the blades could become much more sharp and precise. After practicing his skills a little bit more, Akira decided to check on Garglich and the baby goblins.
He now had a slight bond with that family and felt a sense of responsibility. He had been constantly looking after them in his free time. Once he arrived at the cave, his nose picked up an unfamiliar scent. Goblin noses were much more superior to many races including humans, and they could easily pick up an unfamiliar smell.
Akira cautiously and quietly walked inside of the cave, not wanting to alert any suspecting intruders. Entering the main cave room, Akira saw that the entire room had been turned into a mess. The firewood and ashes were everywhere, the banner was completely shredded and on the floor, and the beds of dry grass were all dismantled.
A deep sense of fear started to form in the heart of Akira. He quickly ran over to the small door and opened it, thankfully, he saw the baby goblins simply sitting around inside. Akira needed to quickly find Gorglich and ask him what had happened here.
He searched for something that belonged to Gorglich, just then, he saw one of the rocks that Gorglich had tried to assault him with. Akira picked it up and smelled the scent on it, it still had a faint scent of Gorglich. Using the rock, Akira followed the trail that the scent led him.
20 minutes earlier.
As Gorglich was sleeping in his cave, he suddenly heard a noise coming from above, he quickly woke himself up and stayed on guard, readying his hands in his pouch of rocks. Out of nowhere, a man quickly ran inside of the room and tried to jump at Gorglich and capture him. "Goblin Hunter!" Gorglich yelled in surprise as he ran from the man. As the goblin hunter tried to capture Gorglich, the entire cave room was trashed to bits.
Gorglich thankfully made his way outside of the cave due to his smaller size and continued to run for a couple of hundred meters before he was finally shot down using a small dagger. The dagger had hit his arm causing him to crash and fall to the floor.
"You vermin, there's no way I'm letting you go." The way in which the man spoke was cold and heartless. He was a man with a stature of 6 feet and had quite a burly build. Surprisingly, his cardio was also quite good, he was a cultivator that was on the 4th level of the qi refinement realm.
As Gorglich tried to push himself away from the goblin hunter using his feet, his head was stepped on by the goblin hunter. With his foot on Gorglich, the goblin hunter pulled out a weak storage bag and restored a goblin cage from it.
"Get in here you chunk of gold." The man said as he stuffed the injured Gorglich inside. As he was about to leave, he sensed a presence near him that wasn't weak by any means. He quickly turned his head in all directions, scanning where this beast was coming from. It was most likely a beast that was of the 5th stage of the beast class.
Suddenly, multiple wind blades could be seen flying towards him from the sky. The blades of wind were extremely fast but he had been expecting an attack so the goblin hunter just managed to dodge the wind blades. "What?! A goblin!?" The hunter said as he saw Akira running towards him with multiple wind blades all around him.
"Bastard! Let go of Gorglich right now!" Akira said as he quickly launched another 10 wind blades towards his opponent. He was one entire stage lower than the goblin hunter, but the speed of his wind blades was still quite formidable. The goblin hunter tried to dodge the blades by jumping to the side but was gashed heavily on the side of his ribcage.
"ARGHHH!" The man exclaimed in pain. "You dare attack a human! Worthless goblin!" The man said as he took Gorglich out of the cage and held a dagger to his throat. "Don't move or your little buddy here is a goner!" The man shouted out to Akira. The man didn't know the cultivation of Akira, but no one could cast 10 entire wind blades of such power without at least being in the 7th stage of the qi refinement realm. He wasn't going to take his chances and try to fight this potential master.
Akira stopped for a moment, if he didn't save Gorglich now, it would be the end for him. Akira simply raised his hands in the air. He of course had a plan. Akira hadn't tested how far he could create the wind blade skill. The distance between him and the goblin hunter was only around 20 meters. There was a chance that he could do it.
As the goblin hunter started to slowly walk backward and away from Akira, Akira started to silently form a blade of wind behind the hunter. It was extremely difficult to control the qi from so far away but he managed to do it, although he couldn't make the blade extremely powerful at such a distance, he could still control the speed, so that was what Akira focused on. "Boom!" The launch of the blade made a small explosion sound as it flew towards the back of the goblin hunter. "What!?" The goblin hunter said before an extremely quick blade slashed him in the back, knocking him to the ground.
Gorglich was quickly released from the hunter's grasp and started to run when another dagger hit him in the back. Gorglich exclaimed in pain before falling down to the ground and passing out immediately. "GORGLICH!!" Akira yelled as he quickly ran over to him. Without taking the dagger out, Akira fed a mouthful of Habitikashe mushrooms to Gorglich.
He then turned his gaze to the goblin hunter who was heavily injured but not dead. The goblin hunter was crawling away on his hands and knees, with a deep and heavy slash on his back, he would have most likely died of blood loss anyway, but that was of no concern to Akira. "You..." All that Akira could see was red, he spoke in an extremely angry type of way. Another wind blade formed above Akira, this one was the kill shot.
"You don't even care about separating this goblin from his children, you don't have even a slight bit of pity... you don't deserve to live." Akira said as he prepared to shoot the blade of wind above his head. "Wait!" The hunter said, coughing blood. "I also have a family! Do you not care about separating me from my family!?" This was the man's last desperate attempt to live.
"No... I don't." Akira said coldly as he released the final blade of wind.
