Now Carl and Jonathan are seen talking to each other in a coffee shop not far from the place where Carl accidentally met Jonathan.
If he couldn't suppress his ego, then maybe he wouldn't be talking to Jonathan, the man in front of him right now.
"How long have you been here?" the man asked Carl without any awkwardness at all.
Carl was quick to say that he hadn't been in France long, to be precise he had only been there a few days ago.
Jonathan looks nodding his head and tells Carl that he has lived there for a long time, especially now that the business he founded is also there, so it can be said that he has become a citizen there.
Carl just smiled and nodded his head slowly, without intending to ask Jonathan further. He's really lazy to chat with people he thinks are toxic to him.
"You don't seem to like this meeting," said Jonathan, slowly realizing it.
Carl just gave a faint smile without any intention of denying or confirming Jonathan's words, which was actually the case.
"Sorry if I gave you a bad impression first."
The words Carl had wanted to hear for a long time now he actually heard.
There was a feeling of irritation and anger that was constantly bubbling up inside Carl.
"I don't want to talk about it, can you talk about something else?" Carl whispered which sounded a little curt.
This time, Jonathan couldn't refuse Carl's words, because after all, Jonathan was the one who was wrong in the first place.
"How is your family? Is your family okay?" Jonathan asked trying to start a new conversation with Carl.
Carl gave Jonathan a nod and said that his little family was fine.
"That's good, it means you finally chose to get married, and have children, right?"
That's exactly what Carl heard from Jonathan's lips.
"Of course, I have a wife even though she hasn't been by my side for a long time, but I already have children and grandchildren that I love."
Jonathan was speechless. Somehow, he didn't like the happiness from the look on Carl's face that was shown to him.
"Then what about you?" asked Carl who was now trying to ask Jonathan back.
"Me?"
"Yes... you."
Jonathan seemed silent for a moment. He really didn't seem to like the question.
"I was too busy with my work that I forgot I should have been looking for a life partner."
Carl was silent when he heard the sentence that Jonathan had just said, which implied that Jonathan was still single and not yet married when his age was like he had grandchildren.
"I'm sorry, I didn't know."
"That's okay, I started this kind of conversation."
Honestly, Carl feels bad, it's just that if you remember Jonathan's words where Jonathan himself started the conversation, then he can't blame himself either.
"Why did you choose to stay here? Didn't you say you loved your country very much?" asked Carl who started to turn the other conversation to Jonathan.
Jonathan smiled faintly and before long shrugged his shoulders slowly.
Unconsciously Jonathan closed his eyes, and soon he was daydreaming of past memories that felt very bitter in his life.
A girl suddenly appeared in Jonathan's thoughts.
A girl in a beautiful maroon dress clings to the girl's body.
"Honey, can't you stay here?" Jonathan asked the girl.
A shake of the girl's head gave Jonathan.
"I want to pursue my dream, I have to stay in France, haven't I told you several times?" the girl whispered to Jonathan with a disappointed look.
With a heavy heart, Jonathan was forced to give in. He didn't want to let go of the girl he loved just like that, and in the end, he chose to obey his lover's wishes.
"Thank you, you will always be there for me right?" the girl asked, slightly spoiled for Jonathan.
Jonathan of course agreed. He couldn't avoid it at all.
"Then you come with me to France, and you have to cut ties with Carl, I don't like it, you are always busy with your best friend."
Jonathan fell silent. Honestly, he didn't like the decision his girlfriend said, it's just...
It's impossible for him to refuse right?
That's what he thought at the time.
"Jonathan?" Carl whispered who suddenly called Jonathan to break his daydream.
"Oh, what's wrong Carl?" asked a slightly surprised Jonathan.
"You're still daydreaming, apparently."
Jonathan chuckled softly, he couldn't deny it, because it was true that the old images in his memory often disturbed his mind.
Memories that seemed to linger in him. Sweet and bitter memories are things that often enter his momentary daydream.
"Are you okay?" asked Carl back to Jonathan.
'You're still the same, I think you've changed completely.' Jonathan monologues in his mind after realizing Carl's slightly different attitude compared to before.
Jonathan gave a slow nod of his head in response to Carl's question.
"Don't you want to ask me why I suddenly disappeared?" Jonathan asked in the end who realized his mistakes in the past.
"Should I ask? Isn't it obvious that you disappeared when Merry disappeared too, which means I can conclude that you are with her, right?"
Thump!
Instantly a hard slap from Carl which he actually got.
"Y-you know it?"
"According to you?"
Again Jonathan fell silent. He didn't expect anything like this. He thought Carl couldn't conclude such a thing, but why did Carl seem to know very well what had happened?
After a long time, Carl paid close attention to Jonathan's body gestures which immediately got a crushing sentence from him.
"That's the past, I've forgotten it, after all, because of that I realized true love, and found the girl I wanted, and I have children because of it."
This time Jonathan seemed to be being skinned by Carl. He really didn't expect to hear the words Carl had just said.
Envy, annoyed, and angry mixed into one, and most importantly of all he said regret was the most suitable thing for him.
"You should have told me earlier so I could gladly give it to you, without you taking it far from me, and I lost my best friend I trusted."
Jonathan swallowed hard.
"Sorry."
Carl smiled faintly and was just busy nodding his head.
'Sorry?'
