The spinner started spinning in clockwise circles and slowly came to stop with the screen flashing in bright colors displayed,
" Special event: Treasure Hunt"
"Treasure hunt!?"
Now, this is an event anyone was least expected to be on a list of events for a one vs one challenge.
Not just me even my entire class, the scientists and even the guards next to them were surprised to see this unexpected new development.
Even the Old dog Clark had an expression that spelled "WTF" on his damn face.
Looking at our dumbfounded faces Mrs. Leonie smiled and let out a mild "ahem" as if she was clearing her throat to get our wandering attention back on to her.
She then said. " I understand your confusion about the challenge chosen for the special event but I can assure you that the game ' Treasure hunt ' is one of the best events for a one-on-one match.
And Yes, this event 'Treasure hunt' is based on a game played in our world.
Since you otherworlders may not know about this game let me explain the game in detail.
The game consists of two teams, one team will protect the treasure while the other will try to steal it.
The One who will be protecting the treasure is the Guardian while the other who will be trying to steal will be the Robber.
The game will randomly assign these roles among the participants. And the location for the event is also random.
The role of the guardian is to protect the treasure in the given location. While the goal of the robber is to steal the treasure.
And the winner will be decided by either if the guardian kills the robber or if the robber steals the treasure and escapes the place within the given time.
The game has no rules for the robber since he is at the most disadvantageous position but the game has few restrictions on the guardian and also provides them with an advantage.
The restriction is that the guardian of the treasure must not keep the Treasure on him and he can not move 100 meters away from the treasure.
If the robber steals the treasure And he was able to take the treasure 100 meters away from the guardian then the robber wins.
And the advantage that the Guardian has is that he can place traps to catch the thief. And he can even design his traps and pathways on the chosen map.
And to make it fair game , the Guardian will have a certain amount of points allocated to him and each trap will have a value he has to play for the traps from the allocated points.
The Guardian can also make his own handmade personal changes during the preparation time.
As for the robber, he will be provided with a one-liner, like a riddle hinting at the location of the treasure.
The total time for the game is 30 minutes, And since we don't have much time we only have one round to find the winner.
Does anyone of you have any doubts? " say so she looked at our damn faces.
Now it's time for us students to be in awe, every one of us now had our mouths wide open like a fucking Magickarp, no words were spoken and every one of us had only one thought running on our minds.
'Wow, even gaming was on the next level in this world.'
We soon came out of our stupider and gave excited looks and reactions even the scientist and the guards had an enthusiastic look with only one who had a different experience, it was the Old bastard Clark.
It was not the looks that were meant for surprise or excitement but more like a disappointment.
But why does he look disappointed?
Isn't he supposed to lose to me in this event?
Is this guy not going to follow through with the plan?
Was his pride wounded due to the fact of him a veteran adventurer being injured by a group of brats who can't even wipe their arses properly?
After hearing about the rules of the event I was sure that the Old bastard was going to attempt to beat the crap out of me before he let me win this game but now looking at his disappointed look am having doubts here.
Well, this may not be the case and Maybe I'm just overthinking about this stuff but as I already said I have this feeling that the Old Foggie Clark isn't going to follow the script that the higher-ups gave for the event.
But him being shocked may also mean that my intuition may be on the mark.
While Everyone else in the room was dumbfounded there was an exception of one person, that was Mrs. Leonie, who for some reason seemed to have already been aware of this event.
Seeing her calm face I started having thought on whether this was another of those devious schemes of the higher-ups of the Academy.
Did they already anticipate that something would go wrong? or did they already know that this senile old bastard may not follow through with the plan and they made this event as a plan just in case?
Whatever the reason for it may be, this incident just once again gravely reminds me that these fantasian bastards are not someone I could trifle with.
[Author: Man you are just paranoid as fuck dude]
Maybe I am just being paranoid and Clark's abnormal behavior may be due to something else but being cautious is never going to hurt.
Soon both of us were asked to choose our roles for the game but once again let it be decided on the based of a spin. Once again the spinner was spun to decide my role as fairness since it was Clark the one who challenged me.
The wheels spun at a smooth pace till I said it to stop and it took a few seconds for it to gradually slowed down and stop with an arrow pointing at the words which looked like they meant guardian.
Well, I can't actually read the language of the fantasians so it was only my guess based on the words I know and I had to wait for Mrs. Leonie to spell it out.
And just like as I guessed it was indeed the role of guardian.
*sigh*
I let a sigh of relief, for the first time after being summoned into this world something actually went according to my wish.
After knowing that my role was indeed the guardian I was relieved because I'm pretty much sure if I was in the role of the robber I would lose the game even before finding the treasure and most of all giving the advantage of laying traps to Clark was like handing him the event even before it had started.
I once again looked at The old foggy to read more about what he was thinking, only to find him smiling like a creep at me.
Damm those creepy smiles really would give anyone goosebumps and with his signature smile pasted on his face, the bastard just went inside his cabin without saying anything.
Now, this was even more nerve wreaking for me because an angry opponent is easy to deal with than a smiling one.
Not being able to read more into his mind I can only expect it would and continue to follow him and enter my own cabin hoping that everything will go according to plan.
Entering the cabinet I locked all the connectors and closed my eyes and said "Link start."
My vision was once again flooded with different colors on a spiral patterned path and before I could see more of it I found myself inside an ancient cave-like ruin, like those you usually see in Indiana Jones movies.
Before I know it a word just slipped passed my lips even without my permission.
"Wooow!!"
