If nature was going to rage, Aldi isn't sure where he should go for safety. With himself alone, he was not necessarily able to survive or else if he had to bring someone with him.
Aldi took a deep, very heavy breathing. There were times when he felt stupid to have brought Ely with him.
"I am…" Ely answered in an even voice.
"Until when?" Aldi looked up again. At a glance, he saw a different flicker of light up there.
Spacecraft? Right, it looks like a spacecraft indeed, he thought.
"Wherever you go," Ely turned to Aldi.
"You will only give me a lot of troubles," Aldi grumbled. "Just stay here! There are no people here, you will be safe from gangsters and cannibals."
"I don't want to!" said Ely curtly as she looked away from Aldi.
"You little stubborn!" Aldi approached the worn-out sofa and throw his ass just like that. "Whatever!" He tried to close his eyes.
When Aldi opened his eyes, a flash of light that came from the left side–the north–provoked worry in him. Aldi stood up and looked in that direction. There were at least a dozen flights from the floodlights of several vehicles.
And it was frightening for Ely herself. With Aldi, she felt comfortable, but when there had to be someone else, her fear grew quickly.
"Hey!" Aldi called out to Ely. "Give me the binoculars!"
Ely tried to check the back seat. The dark conditions and coupled with the fear that haunted her made it difficult for Ely to find what Aldi asked for.
"Hurry up…!"
"Where do you keep it?" Ely shouted, even hysterical. "I can't find it!"
"Argg," Aldi approached while snorting loudly.
Ely shifted, giving Aldi space. And the man found the binoculars in one of the storage rooms in front of the bench where Ely sat.
"You easily found my jelly, huh!" said Aldi sarcastically at Ely, "You suck!"
Ely replied with a loud snort too, she was annoyed at being blamed by Aldi.
"God damn it!" With binoculars equipped with night-vision mode, Aldi confirmed that those who were driving were Federation people riding level-7 red chameleons, and Andalas Government people, those driving level-7 blue-yellow chameleons.
"I'm dead! This is could fail all my plans."
Aldi rushed to retrieve the jelly box and a bottle of water on the sofa, then handed them all to Ely, as well as the binoculars.
"Put on the belt!"
Ely nodded, hurriedly pulled, and fastened her seat belt. Aldi jumped on the chameleon.
The chameleon engine roared, at the same time, the windshield was activated. The protective glass even kept moving while the chameleon had been spurred on by Aldi. The windshield extends until it is connected to the back.
Now, the shape of the chameleon that was speeding up was more like a helicopter without the tail and propellers.
Even though Aldi drove his vehicle at maximum speed, the officers from the joint Federation and Andalas Government were able to follow him. They were now only a few dozen meters apart.
Aldi cursed his stupidity. Even though he also rode Level-7 chameleons, because Aldi rarely took care of his chameleons, the pursuers were almost able to catch up.
Aldi turned sharply to the left, entering the Sunda Strait area. Behind him, the pursuers started to shoot.
The whirring of the bullets exacerbated Ely's fear. One moment she peeked behind her, another time she screamed, clutching her head.
"Stop screaming…!" Aldi said loudly.
Aldi's chameleon swayed, the various wrecks that hilled above sea level helped a little in his escape.
The pursuers continued to shoot at Aldi's vehicle with live ammunition. They also use a sophisticated weapon similar to the PSG–Plasma Shocking Gun. This is the type of weapon that fires a short blue laser that can stop the victim's heartbeat in a few seconds. It will make a vehicle like a chameleon stopped because the engine will not function when hit by it.
The chase continued for several minutes. The explosion of firearms was accompanied by a whooshing sound from the bullets that shot. Sometimes, they hit the wreckage on the surface of the sea. Unfortunately, some of the wreckage hides flammable chemicals. And the missed shot created huge explosions.
Two unwary pursuers were flung high along with their bikes when a barrage of chemical explosions at sea level hit them. The two of them crashed miserably onto the pile of trash, as did their two chameleons. Slowly they drowned among the rotting garbage.
The pursuers became irritated. Even though there were more of them, and riding chameleons that were always in top condition, they were unable to approach instead of touching Aldi. The man was so good at controlling his chameleon, it was as if he had memorized it and knew exactly where to push his chameleon as if the chameleon and he were one.
Twenty minutes later, Aldi lured the pursuers to the island area adjacent to the Child of Krakatoa Mountain. The pursuers did not give up, they continued to chase and shoot at the Aldi's vehicle.
Volcanic dust-covered everyone's view. Covered the outside of the windshield, like gray snow falling from the sky.
Ellie screamed. A bullet hit the left side of the protective glass. And her screams got louder when another bullet hit and shattered the protective glass.
"Get down…!" Aldi shouted, quickly he put on auerbrille to protect his eyes from the volcanic ash.
Ely ducked and almost lay down, hidden from the sight of the pursuers. The shattered windshield, scattered, rained down on Ely. However, Ely was not injured because she was protected by a thick blanket that wrapped her body.
The windshield was not completely destroyed, there was still a little bit left in the front, in front of Aldi. And it looks dangerous—a kind of knife that's ready to cut your throat if you do something wrong.
Aldi decided to just lay in the protective glass which could no longer protect.
Although not left-handed, Aldi still uses his left hand to reach a PSG-type weapon that is tied to his right thigh. And he retaliated by shooting at the pursuers. Without the windshield, he and Ely might be exposed to toxic gas or sulfur fumes. It's just that, with this condition, Aldi can fire to the pursuers.
