Chapter 15 - Something That Should Never Be

The young man's shot was lost quickly by Aldi. After Aldi kicked the sand, he immediately fell, rolling on the ground while swiftly pulling out his weapon. It only took Aldi two seconds, after the gun in the young man's hand spewed its bullet, Aldi managed to knock the young man down. The thin blue light released by Aldi's weapon stung the young man's chest. He collapsed with a violent body limp.

The sound of the guns frightened Ely. As soon as the little girl saw what was happening in front of the workshop, she suddenly screamed very loudly.

"Stay where you are…!" Aldi shouted at Ely.

Ely ducked, hiding in the chameleon's backseat, wrapping herself in the blanket.

The old man who heard the gunshot reacted quickly to reach for the gun he kept under the table. He quickly hid.

However, his concern for the condition of his son–especially when he heard a sound like a goat being slaughtered–made the old man restless. He peered through the gaps in the objects on the table. His anger boiled at that very moment when he found his son had been sprawled out with foaming at the mouth.

Preceded by a shout of anger the old man moved forward. However, he did not see Aldi's presence in front of the workshop again. The old man checks the condition of his son. But unfortunately, Aldi didn't have time to adjust his weapon earlier. So, of course, the young man died after being stung by the maximum force of Aldi's PSG.

The old man roared. Again he looked around. But he couldn't find the person he was looking for. He grabbed the gun that his son had used. With two weapons at once, he looked for Aldi. His gaze shifted towards the chameleon. However, he had heard someone scream earlier. And he was very sure that someone was still in the vehicle.

And if he guessed right, it must have been a child's scream.

While keeping an eye on his surroundings the old man approached the chameleon. He will use the child as bait for Aldi to appear.

The old man smirked, he found Ely in the backseat. Although he hadn't seen what the figure hiding under the blanket looked like, he was pretty sure. The voice that sounded trembling with fear, the subtle movements that were seen on the surface of the blanket confirmed what the old man was thinking.

"You'll pay for everything, young man," he muttered half inaudibly.

The old man pulled the blanket, making Ely scream in fright. Ely inched quickly, out of reach of the old man. However, the man's hand caught one of her legs faster.

"Who are you?!" Ely shouted as she tried to free her leg which the old man was holding on to. "Get off my leg! Aldi… help me!"

"You will be my hostage, sweet little girl!" the old man grinned like a demon finding its prey. "Come to Papa, sweetheart!"

"Aldi…!"

And suddenly…

From behind, Aldi appeared. He quickly grabbed the old man's hair and banged the old man's head against the body of the vehicle.

Slam!

The old man gave a short low voice. His face hit the vehicle's body very hard, even causing the part to be dented.

He fell with blood all over his face—from a broken nose and cracked lips. The old man got up quickly, he turned while brandishing his gun.

Aldi even easily brushed off the weapon in the old man's hand. One fist slammed into the old man's jaw—so hard, that the old man fainted instantly.

"Fucking asshole…!" Aldi growled while waving his right hand. He felt his fingers crumble after punching the old man in the jaw. "You ruined my chameleon, Old Man. Arrg… God damn it!"

Aldi approached the old man who was face down on the ground. With the tip of his shoe, Aldi turned up the old man.

"Yep, passed out!" Aldi is getting annoyed. He kicked the old man. "You old bastard! Who's going to fix my chameleon now, huh?!"

Aldi's attention was distracted by the sound of something being stepped on from inside the workshop. Aldi quickly pointed the PSG weapon towards the workshop. Slowly, Aldi squatted down to grab the two guns in the old man's hands.

"Hey!" he said to Ely. "You know how to use this gun?"

Ely received a gun from Aldi. For a moment, she looked at the gun in her hand. Meanwhile, Aldi is still worried, maybe in the workshop, there is still a herd of the old man.

"Be careful!" said Aldi in a half-whisper to Ely. With a PSG gun in his right hand and a shotgun in his left, Aldi approached the workshop.

Ely watched Aldi move carefully into the workshop until the man disappeared into another room in the building.

Even though it wasn't even five minutes of waiting, Ely was already stricken with anxiety. Ely decided to come down. When her gaze hit the figure of the old man on the ground, she gasped.

Looks like the old man is starting to come to his senses. Not wanting to experience anything like the earlier, Ely smacked the butt of the gun in her hand against the back of the man's head. The man fainted a second time.

The gun in her hand was pointed at the old man's head. Ely just left after her anxiety a little less.

Ely was about to enter the workshop. She frowned as she was about to pass the body of a young man who stretched stiffly on the ground, in front of the workshop.

And suddenly…

Thud!

Ely was frightened and turned around while pointing her gun.

"Woo-woo-woo…!" Aldi dodged to the side with both hands openly.

After knowing that it was Aldi who had returned, only then could Ely feel a sense of relief. Although, she almost shot the man in the chest.

"You want to kill me, huh?!"

"If needed," Ely snorted at the same time dispelling the anxiety in her.

"You little brat!" Aldi grumbled. "You so ungrateful!" He looked around for something on the long desk beside him.

"You found something?" asked Ely, nonchalantly as she stepped further into the workshop.

"Maybe a cat or some other pet. I dunno!" Aldi stepped into the yard in front of the workshop. "I found no one inside. Hey, where are you going?"

"Food."

"Eeh, food is all you think about, huh?"

"Shut up!" Ellie snorted. "If I find it, don't you ask for a share!" Ely walked past the door in the workshop, leaving Aldi laughing at her.

There are three doors there, Ely checked all the rooms. Including, two rooms upstairs.

Upstairs, Ely is surprised by an animal that should never exist in the area. No-no-no, it should never exist in this former country of Indonesia.
