Chapter 4 - Chapter 4. Perks of being an aristocrat

Tirus made his way to the library,

"Where are the knight breathing techniques?" He inquired the servant appointed as the librarian.

The library of the Elrod estate was as big as a small mansion, with hundreds of books about geography, history, human anatomy, and war tactics.

"In the innermost section, young master." The servant said while bowing his head.

"Take me there."

Only those of the Elrod family or the ones who are given permission by the head of the house could enter the innermost section. It was a place heavily guarded by 12 knights with over 25 years of battle experience.

"A.I. chip, scan the stats of that knight." Tirus gave an order to the A.I. chip.

[Beep! Task established, scanning…]

[Name: Unknown, occupation: knight, strength: 5.2, agility: 4.9, vitality: 4.4, status: Healthy, old]

The A.I. chip gave Tirus all the information about the grand knight's stats.

'Hm, I've heard that grand knights can easily fight 10s of people and still not get tired at all and can destroy massive rocks with just one punch, but this one is just a knight and seems to have aged a lot, resulting in his relatively low vitality.' He analyzed him completely before entering the innermost section.

Here all the low grade, mid-grade meditation techniques were kept except, of course, the family's signature technique.

He had heard that the signature technique focused on the agility of the practitioner and all other techniques focused either on strength or vitality.

'This explains why I have such high vitality, hehe, I must have inherited the good genes of my father!'

Thinking of his father, he felt nothing much. Ever since he was born, this father of his hadn't spent much time with him, so there wasn't any strong bond between them. Not that he cared about that, though.

Thereafter, one by one, he flipped through all the knight breathing techniques.

[Beep! Data about knight breathing techniques have been 100% recorded]

"Create a file for this, name it 'knight cultivation', store all this information there." he gave the A.I. chip the command as he made his way to the human anatomy section.

'The more information I have about the human body, the better!' He thought as he flipped through most of the books over the course of the entire next month.

During this period, he would finish his studies, meet his mother, and come straight to the library.

His pet eagle, whom he named Hawke, was being taken care of by his servants. But he rarely ever played with his pet. It was like how a child would be excited about a new toy for a few days and then they just forget about it.

As for his brother? He couldn't care less about him. Although he was cute, he was busy studying most of the time since he didn't have any A.I. chip. He rarely met him during the day, though they did sometimes played together in the evening as there was no reason for Tirus to be cold to his younger sibling.

Being an aristocrat had its perks, but one also had to endure the hellish discipline that came together with it.

"Mother, can I come in?" Tirus asked in his childish voice while standing in front of a door.

"Yes, my little Tirus, come in." Elena replied as she gestured all the maids to go outside.

As soon as Tirus saw the maids get out, he jumped into his mother's embrace.

Elena just didn't feel comfortable showing her motherly side in front of the servants as she usually acted very indifferent to most things.

She had always done this whenever Tirus came here.

"It would feel quite weird if others saw me baby-talk" was her reasoning. She wasn't a very intelligent or cunning person, but she definetly knew the basic social conduct of nobles .

Tirus tightly hugged his mother.

"How are you doing? Is there anything you want?" She asked sweetly.

"Mm, I want nothing but spend time with mother!" Tirus, with a childish smile on his face, filling Elena's heart with a fuzzy feeling.

"Okay, oh how sweet are you!" She exclaimed as she sat on her chair while putting Tirus on her lap. Her hands held Tirus tightly so he wouldn't fall.

Tirus was always had been her favorite. He was calm, intelligent, and never caused any ruckus. On the other hand, her second son, Evan, was the most average of the average and was a very naughty kid and so she had to be especially strict with him.

Tirus's daily routine was simple. Eat, study, sleep. That was it and this continued for another 2 years and finally, Tirus turned 8 years old. Today was the day he was going to learn his family's signature knight breathing technique.

To be continued.....
