Chereads / A Sweet Dream / Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

"Another day." The first thing I said after waking up. "Ahhhh," I yawned, stretching out my arms. I shook my head fast to wake myself up.

I went to the bathroom to take a bath, I also brushed my teeth. I went outside to get the hairdryer for my hair. While I was drying my hair, I remembered my talk with her, Seo A-Yeong.

"Oh. Yijin? Is that you?" I heard someone shout from my left. I turned to the left to see who it is but since it is kinda crowded, it's hard for me to know who it is but I recognized someone when that certain someone appeared from the crowd, Seo A-Yeong. Haena's ex-girlfriend. We've been friends since Haena introduced us to each other, she, they were so happy that time until it all fell apart.

"Seo A-Yeong?" I muttered, not believing what I'm seeing. I saw her walking towards me who is kinda shocked so the person froze. She is nearing.

"Yijin!" She called out, excited. Although there's this awkward atmosphere, it's not like we're strangers just because of what happened. Seo A-Yeong would text me from time to time to ask how I'm doing and also ask if Haena said anything about that. My reply would always be 'No, she still hasn't said anything about that.' cause she really haven't said anything about it.

"Oh! A-Yeong." I spoke once she finally arrived at my spot. "Can I still call you that?" I asked whispering. She just nods which made me drop my guards. "It's been a long time," I said cause it's really been a long time since I saw her in person. Still pretty. Maybe prettier. (endgame)

"What are you doing here?" I asked curiously, my voice a little raised so she can hear me through this noisy-but not that-noisy crowd.

"I transferred here." She answered my question. "This is my dream school, you know." She added as if defending herself. Right, it's her dream school. I didn't mention this when we applied here. I always thought that Haena applied here because this uni is good and she forgot that this is A-Yeong's dream school.

Even though her eyes hides everything, her eyes refuses to show someone what's inside her or what's behind the Haena she's showing, I always felt she's hiding something. She changed, is what I noticed after I met her again. That open and happy girl became a hard-to-approach woman. Maybe it's because of tha-

"You going here too?" I heard her asked that made me look up more as if I was looking down the whole time. 'When did I looked down?' "You suddenly looked down when I said this is my dream school."

"Did I said that out loud or you just noticed?" I asked, having an amazed expression. She replied, both, still smiling. I grinned. "About your first question," I started speaking when I remembered about it. "Yes, I'm going here too." She just nodded as if she expected my question.

"Does that mean..." Oh, right, of course. "She's going here too?" She asked, her voice low. I took a moment before nodding. "Oh." is what she just said.

Silence.. and awkward moment between us. The crowd is slowly receding. I turned away a little.

"She late?" She asked breaking the silence that had just been there a moment ago. I turned to her again. She's avoiding my gaze.

"I think so." She made a surprised expression but she managed to hide it quickly. Of course, she would be. I was too, still am, surprised. She always got here early, VERY EARLY. But its not the first time she got late, just that, its a rare occurrence.

Clean and healthy record in education. The top person, but she wasn't last year. She wasn't able to focus a month before they broke up. All too well. Then after one night, she got drunk, something that I've only seen her do one time and for the first time in my life. She always avoided parties, celebrations outside, opposite of the girl I once knew.

"About it, that thing.." She initiated the talk again. I heard her mumbling something but I couldn't catch it because I was remembering some memories. When I caught on, I quickly understood what she's talking about but I let her continue. "Have she said anything about that?".

I sighs before replying. "No." Before she could talk, I continued as if letting her know I'm not the one at fault. "She still isn't saying anything to me about that." I shakes my head a little. I'm annoyed. "When I ask her, her eyes would change then she just change the topic." I managed to say before almost dying because of heart attack when someone surprised from behind.

I recognized who that vocal belongs to immediately. Oh, God. It was too loud for me to just think of it but it was too quiet for me to have said anything.

They said some things to each other. A-Yeong left, after she did, Haena asked me something and I answered it. Was it an awkward conversation, it should be, right? I mean when past lovers meet, the atmosphere changes but for some reason the atmosphere when they talked felt familiar. It felt familiar.

Getting lost in my memory of yesterday, I didn't notice I finished drying my hair until I felt my hair dry.

'Answers..' What? Who..?

Months later...

"What do you mean?" I asked. Not even 3 seconds passed by, I asked again, this time yelling. "What did you meant by that?!" It was more of a demanding-for-an-answer tone rather an asking.

"It's their, her decision. Let's respect it." I heard him whispering.

___________

Feelings, thoughts and memories.. it's all coming back to me. No, it never left me because I dearly held on to it, even if it might cause my life.

Months later...

"N-n-n-o-no..." The past came back haunting her again, but this time, physically and not in her dreams- nightmares.

___________

I remembered what I muttered earlier. 'Answers..' I need it. I want it. Is that selfish of me to ask?

Months later...

"Where are you? Where are you then?" I found myself muttering the same words that I once said when I left her, only this time, it was the opposite.
