Chouji gave Yon the inscription tags for each element and told him to try them out one by one.
"So how do I try these Jisan?" asked Yon
Just hold them in between your index and middle finger like so and put your spirit energy on the tag. Once the inscriptions light up throw them to your target. Once Yon understood the instruction, he did hold a fire ball tag in between his fingers and transfer some of his spirit energy.
The inscriptions on the tag did light up and he could feel it without looking on the tag. He threw the tag to the wall and the tag became a fireball the size of a basketball. His grandfather smiled upon witnessing it.
"So Cool!" Yon exclaimed. 'It's like a Jutsu in Naruto but I didn't have to weave any hand sign!'
"As expected from my daughter's son.! Well done Yon!"
"Hehe, was mom an element specialist Jisan?"
"Yes, she was an Element/Summoner Specialist to be precise."
"Woah. Mom's even cooler! Then how about you Jisan?"
"I am a weapon specialist! And I mastered the katana!" Chouji said with his nose standing up.
"Oh."
"What's with that lack of response?! Aren't I just as cool as your mother?" Chouji asked angrily.
"Mom's awesome but your just good Jisan." Yon said plainly, sticking an arrow in Chouji's heart.
"Well, your mother could use all 5 elements! Why don't you try to beat that if you can!" Chouji taunted him.
"So, mom's one of the three rare genius in a thousand-year history of exorcists?" Chouji was surprised that Yon remembered that, only to remember once again that his grandson was a monster genius himself when he started teaching him Kendo.
Once Yon tried all remaining tags. He was able to activate all of them which left Chouji speechless with another arrow to his heart by Yon's comment.
"Jisan, mom and I are both awesome except you!" the old man cried a few tears. Who would have thought that his grandson would be so heartless to him?
A few moments later
"Like I mentioned earlier, your mother was an Element/Summoner Specialist. Since you can use all 5 elements which is actually a lot better than your mom who was only able to control 4 elements, you should also be able to summon spirit beasts like she does."
"You first need to need to memorize the different types of inscriptions to form a contract with a spirit beast. Here's the guidebook on how to write it. Once you're done on memorizing then you can proceed to call out a spirit beast using the summoning inscription."
Inside the guidebook were different types of contracts in accordance with a spirit beast's rank. In those contracts were the percentage of level the treatments are between an exorcist and a spirit beast. There's an equal treatment between the exorcist and spirit beast and others where either of the individual is higher or in complete dominance over the other.
For someone who's already who's already in the Xiantian Realm, memorizing a guidebook is a walk in the park. Chouji who provided Yon with a guidebook went inside the house to get the box with the remaining weapons with inscription excitedly.
"Hmmmn. Done!" Said Yon as he finished the guidebook quite easily under only a few minutes. Not a little longer and Chouji came back with the large box he retrieved inside.
Upon seeing Yon no longer holding the book Chouji was a little confused. His grandson was a monster genius yes but those are inscription patterns that's not normally learned by people.
Even if he was a monster genius there's no way he was able to memorize them all in time for Chouji to retrieve the large box inside the house. Or did he give up early since the inscriptions were too confusing and boring? Only one way to find out.
"Yon, are you done memorizing the guidebook for summoning?" he asked.
"Yes I am Jisan. So, where's the empty tags for me to write the summoning inscription to?"
"Wait, all 300 pages of it?" Yon nodded for confirmation. 'That was fast, he's truly a monstrous genius. He's long surpassed his mother.' Chouji gave up on measuring his grandson.
"I wanted you to try the weapons with inscription if you found it boring reading theories and inscriptions, but it seems I'm wrong."
"Hahaha. There was a lot of theories but fewer inscriptions regarding summoning, but I already understand how to summon a spirit beast and form a contract with it." Yon explained.
"Sigh. Well alright. Let me just get an empty tag and the spirit pen you need." Chouji retrieve several empty tags and a very special pen instead of a brush that's normally used for this kind of things.
"Well, if you have understood the guidebook then you should know what to do with this right?" Yon nodded and accepted the empty tag and pen.
Using spirit energy to power up the pen, Yon wrote a summoning inscription pattern on an empty tag. In the guidebook, it says one could try his compatibility in all 4 ranks of spirit beasts.
Normally anyone is compatible with a normal and wild spirit beasts. For ancient beasts, any student exorcist can summon at least one or two. But the ability to form a contract with them is what makes ancient spirit beasts special than the first two ranks.
For mythical beasts, a select few were able to summon one mythical spirit beasts but as mentioned by Chouji only 4 were able to form a contract with them.
Yon has long lost interest in any normal and wild spirit beast. So, he drew a summoning inscription to call out any ancient spirit beast he's compatible with.
"Done! Jisan, can I try it out?" he asked his grandfather excitedly.
"No." his answer crushed Yon's hope to have an ancient spirit beast as a slave. Yes you heard it right. Beside the summoning inscription, Yon also prepared a complete dominance contract where he gains full control of the spirit beasts. Making the spirit beasts closer if not a total slave under him.
"It's dangerous to try it right now so I suggest you write all the inscriptions you need for the summoning and forming a contract. We will try it later in evening. For now, we will move on to weapons with inscriptions!" Chouji said with renewed vigor. 'Finally, his time to show his grandson how cool he is has come!'
"Okay." Answered Yon and immediately started writing more inscriptions regarding summoning as stated in the guidebook.
After 10 minutes of writing inscriptions for summoning.
"Hey grandson, are you not done yet?" asked Chouji who can't wait for him to finish and show his skills.
"Not yet. By the way Jisan, do you also have a guidebook for elemental inscriptions?"
"Huh!!?? Are you not bored with it?" asked Chouji
"Not at all. It's very interesting!"
"Humph. But weapons with inscriptions are way more interesting than that. Besides I haven't even showed you how this dagger can be controlled in the air yet. Or how this Katana can send a spirit energy that can cut almost any hollow." Complained Chouji.
"Now that's boring. Besides, you've already taught me kendo. And I can already do this much." Yon held out his hand and spoke. "Spirit sword."
A normal sword made of spirit energy formed in his hands. Chouji opened his mouth in shock at what his grandson did. As if that was not enough Yon controlled the sword and had it dance around him while gesturing his arm and the sword followed his hand's motion. Chouji's opened mouth twitched uncontrollably upon witnessing this.
"See? You've already taught me how to use a sword so let me learn more about inscriptions please?" Yon pleaded with cute eyes as much as he could muster.
And that nailed the coffin on Chouji's hope to be cool in front of his grandson. He told Yon that there was a basic guidebook from his mother in the box regarding elemental inscriptions while sitting in the corner and writing something in ground with a downed spirit.
"Awesome!" Yon then started looking for it in the large box.
Sniff sniff, Chouji continued sulking in the corner. Meanwhile Yon was already immersing himself on the basic inscriptions about elemental inscriptions. Although inscriptions were mainly created by inscriptions masters, some specialists also tend to study and create one themselves instead of ordering/buying from an inscriptions master.
Of course, it will be of low quality since it wasn't an inscription master who made it. But Yon's mom who was a genius herself managed to create some for herself anyway.
"So, I was right. Inscriptions are just like codes and the techniques are like the programs for whatever the code is for."
"However, unlike them I don't need an inscription tag. According to Jisan, the inscription's roots was derived from the lines found inside a human and exorcist body. If my guess is right then, inscription patterns were derived from meridians?"
"What else could possibly be the guide of that researcher but the meridians where spirit energy flows through?"
"But do exorcists even have meridians? Jisan did say that an exorcist's lifespan was only a century which meant that they must have been stuck at Houtian realm." Yon thought for a second then looked at his grandfather who was still sulking in the corner.
'So that's how he was able to do it without an inscription. I don't even know what to call him anymore. I know I should be happy but, sniff sniff.'
"Jisan! Can I check you for a moment?"
"Huh? What do you mean check me out?"
"Never mind that, come here for a second so you'll understand."
Chouji went closer to where Yon was.
"So, what was did you mean you'll check me out?"
"I need to know if you have opened your meridians."
"Meridians? What's that?"
"You don't know? It's like the channels inside your body where spirit energy passes through."
"Oh, you mean my zenith?"
"Yeah, sure if that's what you call it. So can I look at it for moment?"
"Okay, what do you want me to do?"
"Just sit in front me like so" Yon sat down on the ground and gestured for his grandfather to sit in front of him. Chouji sat down with his back faced towards his grandson.
Yon placed his palm on his grandfather's back and used his spirit sense to check Chouji's body inside. This was Yon's first time on using it this way. But that didn't stop him from looking inside Chouji's body.
