Dassen really was kind of surprised by Adeline. He didn't think that he was going to have a problem with her. She didn't put off waves of malice or hate. She didn't seem disgusted but curious and when he told her he wasn't going to answer questions she just seemed to accept that and moved on. Like he was going to share things with her, he didn't know her from Jack and could care less.
She had a very easy temperament and didn't really speak like she was entitled to something. She spoke confidently, but he knew that she was a bit nervous. It was in how she held herself, and while she didn't react, nor move away if he touched the computer coming near her. He could hear her heart beat faintly. How it picked up or slowed down, his hearing was that sensitive. Most times he was able to ignore it rather effectively.
