You make to follow her, but the crunching of leaves grows louder and you wait to see what is coming.
Tabitha's father and mother approach the house, a torch in the former's hand and a sleepy Judith in the arms of the latter.
"They should have brought her to us," her mother says.
"They are aging and feeble," her husband replies. "And Judith told them we would fetch her."
There is nothing you can do to stop this. It is all a thing of the past, if it truly happened at all. Still, you chase after Tabitha as you wonder why you are even here in the first place.
