At breakfast on Tuesday morning, the dining hall is filled with a sea of blue and green T-shirts and a giddy buzz of excitement that carries over onto the Great Field.
"Okay, Green team!" Casey hardly needs the megaphone. Dressed from head to toe in green, with green face paint, she could not be mistaken for the leader of any other team. Across the Great Field at the Blue team's home base, Graham's bright blue T-shirt and matching baseball cap look positively minimalist by comparison.
"We're gonna show everyone what a great team we are!" Casey continues, with just as much spirit as she brought to every Kingsport High cheerleading display. "Counselors, you've got a list of your events and times. Meet with your cabins to figure out a strategy—and then go out and win that cup!"
You've been working with these campers for weeks now; you know what they're good at and how you can work with them best. You also know what you want.
You could just play honestly.
Or you could cheat. Pearl would probably be mad at you if she found out about it. So you'd just have to make sure that she doesn't find out. Right?
Or you could focus on making the camp look good so that everything will be the way you want it when the board shows up next week. You might still be able to win the trophy anyway. You might just be that good.
