Paquet and several other guards grab you under the arms and pull you outside. You are unceremoniously dumped out on the street.
Perhaps you could have leveraged your success in driving the crowd away, and thus protecting the intendant, to negotiate a benefit for yourself? Still, perhaps it was best not to become entangled with a man like Vervaise. Avoiding the limelight may ultimately prove the wisest choice.
In fact, you start to think you should leave town entirely for a time, in the hopes that things will die down a little around here.
