The chief meets you in what must have been a storeroom, now converted into an office, with a large board extended across old barrels to serve as a desk. She has a severe face with sharp features, and her dark hair is tied back behind her head. Her eyes lock on you as soon as you enter.
"So, you're the one that's caused my son so much trouble," she says. She gives a sharp look to the lead officer standing by the door. There is a familial resemblance.
He looks sheepish and turns away.
"Tell me, then," she continues. "Why have you been such a disruption on my—on the king's roads?"
