Chapter 7 - Trial of Triston

Depending on the necessities of the plotline, the author will now alternate between the names Triston and Aarav (as Aarav's soul transmigrated into Triston's body).

After addressing the issue, King noticed Triston was still bowing down and said, "You may raise your head."

As Triston slowly raised his head, he noticed a group of people scowling at him from comfortable iron benches. At first, he found their gaze unsettling, but later on, he ignored their stares as he didn't care about their opinions. He was more concerned about why he was summoned.

No one looked directly into Your Majesty's eyes, so Triston didn't look at him directly. But as his curiosity piqued, he sneaked a peek at the throne, where he saw a middle-aged man in his early 50s sitting gracefully. A gleaming oak throne was sandwiched between two large statues, flanked by two nearly identical seats occupied by two exquisitely beautiful women. Sitting on the right was the First Queen, 'Victoria Winfield,' and sitting on the left was the Second Queen, 'Edith Winfield.'

Eleanora Winfield, Triston's ex-fiancé, stood next to Victoria. She is the first Princess of the Histon Empire, a striking young woman with a height of 170 cm and a well-endowed figure, featuring D-cup breasts. Her delicate and troubled face is nearly obscured by her short blonde hair, which highlights her piercing blue eyes. Despite her good looks, Eleanora's personality is marred by selfishness, arrogance, and pride. She can be incredibly possessive and domineering, especially when it comes to Triston, her former fiancé whom she made his life miserable even after their engagement dissolved. While Eleanora is a decent mage, her talents are often overshadowed by her negative traits.

Eleanora was grinning angrily at Aarav. Triston looked at her, sighed, and rolled his eyes, wondering, 'So, she is the Triston ex-fiancé who made his life miserable even after their engagement dissolved.'

He also noticed a red-haired middle-aged man and Austen Atwood standing in front of the throne, and anyone could tell by their resemblance that they were father and son.

As they moved toward the throne, they came to a halt a certain distance away from it.

"Austen Atwood, the eldest son of the Atwood family, first accused Triston Barrington of having indecent desires for his fiancée, Anna Gregg, and then alleged that Triston deliberately provoked Anna Gregg to duel with Austen Atwood and harm him in the process, Walter said as he moved behind the King's throne.

Eleanora sneered as she heard the accusation. Upon first meeting Eleanora, you may not have realized that her troublesome and agonizing nature is just the beginning. In addition, she possesses traits of aggression, shallowness, and possessiveness, but strangely enough, these qualities are balanced by her habits of dedication. It's crucial to pay attention to her because that's precisely what she's been avoiding. Triston's social life has been ruined due to Eleanora's possessiveness and irrational behavior, which many people have witnessed. However, there are brighter aspects hidden within Eleanora's darkness. She is, at the very least, honest and gentle, and a prodigy of magic blessed by Nosana, the Goddess of Water. Despite being Triston's ex-fiancée, she still has possessive feelings towards him and will not tolerate any other girl approaching him, despite her hatred for him being a half-demon.

Anna was taken aback by Austen's claim and thought to herself, 'How ignorant a person can be?'

Before anyone could say anything, Anna rushed up and said, "Triston is like a younger brother to me. These allegations are absurd."

'Ouch, that hurts!' Aarav said to himself after hearing Anna's assertion.

[I told you, you don't have a chance.]

'Yeah, I know. She always regarded Triston like a little brother, but I'm not a Triston. So don't give me that, you don't have a chance crap,' Aarav muttered.

Anna spoke up, "Triston has never instigated me to cause harm to anyone. All of the allegations are false."

Queen Victoria (First Queen of the Kingdom) interrupted Anna, "Let Triston speak for himself. Do not cover up for some half-demon. Your turn will come."

Anna took a step back, feeling remorse for dragging Triston into her predicament. Triston had been her only friend since childhood, and she had always protected him like an older sister.

Triston raised his head and said, "What proof does Prosecution have that I deliberately provoked Anna to hurt him? How can a half-demon like me persuade a young prodigy like Anna to harm her fiancé? It's an absurd scenario. This is how our Kingdom treats it's own prodigy."

"Instead of taking responsibility for his own failings, Austen defames his prospective wife before a royal court by questioning her character. Isn't he the one defaming her own fiancé without any proof?" he continued.

The throne room fell silent. Everyone was surprised to see a naïve guy arguing with such assurance in front of the King, without any sense of fear.

King James Winfield and his advisor, Walter Grigg, remained expressionless. Queen Edith Winfield (2nd Queen of the Kingdom) found the situation amusing, while the others were perplexed.

Everyone kept the silence to asses the situation except for Austen, he lost control of his rage and launched a fire spell, causing a red light to flash over the throne room and ran towards Aarav.

Anna looking at him running towards Triston quickly reacted by stepped forward and using her wind spell to nullify Austen's spell.

The room murmured in surprise at display of magic by those in Royal Court without the king's permission.

Austen hurled insults at Triston, but he did not challenge Anna to a fight and said, "See for yourself, Your Majesty, how Anna has been enchanted by this Half-demon to the point where she is willing to fight her own fiancé."

Walter Grigg motioned Anna to step back, realizing she could make it impossible for herself and Triston to prove their innocence.
