"I want to, but I can't. Not unless you have a way to prolong the time you keep your legs."
I was annoyed because he knew exactly where the problem was and still thought I didn't want to take him.
"Can you not go, then?" Dacia looked at me expectantly.
"I'd better make a trip. Daniel is my superior. If I refuse his invitation, he may be unhappy. It could affect my work."
I tried to sound calm and gentle to not give Dacia the impression that I was quibbling.
"So you're going to ditch me for work?" Dacia looked hurt.
"That's not what I meant. Can you calm down and think about it for me?" I raised my voice, deepening the conflict between us.
"I won't let you leave me alone!" Dacia decided to throw a tantrum.
Seeing his attitude, my temper flared. "Then I'll tell you, too. I'm going to Daniel's tonight no matter what."
"Are you throwing a tantrum at me?" Dacia's tone grew more serious.
