Chapter 7 - Primal Exclusion Zone!

The night arrived with the starry sky of an old galaxy. Jack looked at the diameter and density of the forest's tree formation and he deemed that something big and tall, approximately below ten meters, might roam around within the forest.

He wanted to create an improvised fence with the sharp objects he found in order to ward off the animals that he saw, but it would be futile to do so.

On his far gaze to the forest near the mountain—there were more than one spot that were illuminated from afar, it could be another highly intelligent living being. Possibly humans.

The dead avatar that the Oo'zakha summoned were human-like in appearance, that alone told Jack indirectly that this world had humans as well.

He concluded that he was overthinking in the end and decided to settle on making a bonfire. It took him a while to light one. He had vague memories of doing it in his past life but smashing them together wasn't going to do it.

With the power of a wooden stick and elastic forest vines, he managed to create a spark on the wood platform using drilling friction.

"Sheesh." He looked at his own heavily bruised hands illuminated by the bonfire. "I might be a little too wild back there."

[Your body is decreasing in efficiency. It seems like grass is not an optimal choice of a snack for an energetic ape like you.]

"I would love to have some meat." Jack then carefully picked the grass beside him without letting his bruise make contact. "This body can literally consume anything, right? Does that include poison and the like?"

[As long as it's small enough to fit your guts.]

"I just need to be a good child and chew properly then!"

Jack then used his three dimensional allocation perception and deployed the Basic Tentacle in the open meadow.

A vapor of blue binary erupted before the tentacle sprouted from the portal-like platform that connected it with the ground. Because of that, it could rotate its thin platform instead of permanently facing in one direction.

The Basic Tentacle appeared to be seamlessly chilling with comfort. Jack noticed that its row of Suckers on the other side began facing the bonfire.

"I've been calling this little guy 'Basic Tentacle' for the whole time. Is there no way of naming him?" Jack prodded the squishy tentacle.

[What do you want me to call him?]

"Petra Tentacle." Jack snickered. "I'm expecting this one to grow big and strong."

[I thought you would be naming him like your own son or something. Turns out you just changed the 'Basic' alongside a vapid joke of what you had lost.]

"Hey! That's a low-blow!"

There seemed to be a reaction after hearing that word, as the tentacle appeared to be smoothly wagging left and right. Jack hoped that it was more towards its new name.

[Name: Basic Tentacle >> Petra Tentacle]

After the fiasco of naming his new pet and a sad reminder of his existence, Jack laid down on a lump of grass that he had uprooted to become a mattress. The sky was dark as if it was the shadow of a beast, not even the moon was present to look down upon him. He closed his eyes and listened to the mumbles of the flames.

It's been a long day, it was time for him to rest.

Or so he had hoped.

A three-meter tall panther with numerous jagged blades protruding from the side of its limbs. Growling, it slowly approached the camp site step by step while maintaining a menacing gaze. The infant of an old man got up immediately.

"What a polite predator!" Jack said nervously, grabbing his long improvised spear and entering a firm defensive stance. "As far as I remember, a cat like you should be wary of fire within the night. You're either fearless or blind for coming to this glade!"

The Pomu clicked its fangs.

Fire spread and enshrouded his black fur like a blazing cloak. The beast shook its limbs a few times before the fire travelled to the blades.

Jack panicked and hurriedly reached out for his second spear that was longer than the current one he gripped. "N-now I know why you're not afraid of fire!"

The bruises stung but still he tightly clenched his weapon to point the tip at the blazing panther. He then darted his eyes to his waving tentacle and immediately deployed it as a body part on his bone tail.

Petra had 22kg of Kinetic Strength—Albeit Jack didn't really know what its logical value in practice, Jack had already tested its capability before the night arrived. It was strong enough to be a foundation when its suckers are attached to the ground, helping Jack as he leaned back his whole body to pivot hold the spear's weight as he pitted it with his whole wrists on each side of his waist.

One of his spears was almost four meters while the other was only one meter less. He lightly spread the distance of the spears from each other, with the longest almost directly aimed at the panther the most.

The bonfire behind him made him look bigger. By doing this, he created a cone shaped zone that deterred any sane beast's instinct to lunge or indiscriminately rush like a hungry hound.

"The Primal Exclusion Zone!" Jack's hands trembled as he maintained his stance. "Whatcha gonna do, huh!?"

[Petra Tentacle> Kinetic Strength: 25kg(+3) | Aggressiveness: 32(+20)]

Disregarding the intimidation attempt, the panther lunged forward with its maw wide open.

"Holy cretin!"

Jack pulled the long spear to point it at the beast head.

The panther was still in the air. With nothing to change its direction, the beast was impaled two meters deep into the accurately pointed spear. To stop the beast from getting nearer, Jack used the second spear to halt any further penetration and used his whole body momentum to slam the beast down—preventing the flame from touching him.

Its impact alone made Jack release his grip on the long spear, letting the back end of the pole stabbed the ground.

He then shifted himself to the side with both hands on the shorter spear, pushing the impaling wooden pole to mangle the panther from its cross-section.

"Hurrah!"

Blood sprayed from the panther's wound. It was thermally hot and Jack felt it sear his soft skin.

The panther soon began to retaliate by showing its inhumane super strength and took both of the spear for a spin to the area outside of the camp. Its blades slashed the air again and again, mowing down any grass within the vicinity.

"The hell!?"

Jack tightly hugged at the pole, trying to withstand the pain from getting slowly burnt alive while also avoiding the jagged blades.
