Chapter 57 - Descent

A warmth spread behind his eyes, writhing and restless. The sensation—a wild wave of power thrumming in his heart and vision—was so terrifying that Azuma could think no more.

He remembered glimpses of reality overlapping with his memories, but those were all mere fragments now. The darkness was all that could feel and see.

A pair of footsteps stopped in front of Azuma.

He barely registered them, his mind was seeped into a haunting emptiness that numbed his thoughts and senses. He was not sure where he was, however, a burdening weight was was crushing him down.

It was as if his bones could snap at any moment, or perhaps they already have.

Pain.

Was all he felt.

Everywhere.

He blacked out again.

This time when he regained his consciousness, there was none of those sirens. In fact, there was no sound. Nor any resemblance of those cold corridors around him.
