(Rody)
Rody jumped to his feet at Meghan's words. He instinctively placed a hand on his hammer and eyed Jai cautiously. He could feel the tension in the air elevate to palpable levels. Around him, he could see everyone put up their guards and take heedful step away from Jai.
The man's face went paler than normal. Fear gripped him as he noticed the change in everyone's demeanor. He quickly backed himself against the wall and raised his hands up.
"What—what are you saying?" he asked in a shaky voice, "I'm not bit. I'm fine."
"You're limping." Meghan pointed out. "And you have blood on your trousers, behind your ankle."
"Oh no, that's just… that's not a bite." Jai stammered, "I hurt myself. That's all. Really."
"Jai…" Sheila called out softly, "Be honest with us. Were you bitten?"
"NO! I DIDN'T GET BIT!" Jai yelled suddenly.
