I stand up immediately and stand in front of Shirley
"Not today Doug and most definitely not here" I warn him.
"I came to tell you to join us" he hesitates looking at Shirley whose focus is on her food. "Both of you"
"Why?" I ask him suspiciously.
"We all said we won't let anything come between our friendship remember?"
"We did. But that is different. I don't think Shirley feels comfortable coming there"
"I do. It's okay." Shirley speaks up.
I am so confused right now but I let it be.
"Okay then"
We take our food tray and go sit with them. The whole cafeteria had gone quiet thinking there was going to a fight or something but it goes back to normal hen we all sit.
"Hey baby" Eden kisses me
"Are you responsible for us coming to eat with you?" I ask him
