Chapter 1: Crash Landing
No One's POV
Lucifer watched as Chloe ran from him, but the physical pain was nearly all-consuming to truly focus on much else, least of all having what he thought was the love of his life run away in fear because she could not handle his true self, his wings were riddled with bullet holes, and the pain threatened to pull him under completely, distracting him from anything else, so with another flick of his great white wings, Lucifer disappeared from the crime scene.
It was evening, Lauren was curled up with a cup of tea on her couch, her tv played mindless re-runs, and a book sat in her lap while dinner was cooking in the oven, when a large crash was suddenly heard in her back yard, startling Lauren out of her otherwise peaceful night.
Immediately, Lauren was on the defense, setting her things down and picking up her cell phone, her hand hovering over the key pad, ready to dial 911, as she peaked out her sliding glass door, unwilling to lock it before she could at least attempt to determine what had made all that racket; maybe it was just an animal, although that was doubtful, at least with all that noise, it sounded like someone crashed into something.
Then, she gasped, frantically unlocking her sliding glass door, and taking the stick that blocked it from sliding open out of the track, before running out.
"Hey, hey," She runs towards the man, angel, lying face down in her now rather destroyed back yard. "Are you okay?" She questions, gently placing her fingers against his neck to check for a pulse, and okay, she wasn't a doctor, or that kind of doctor as in a human doctor, but, she was a type of one, plus, she was pretty sure checking for a pulse was something any normal person could do.
"He- hello there," Lucifer looks up, not recognizing the place he had crashed landed rather abruptly, ever part of him screaming in pain, particularly his wings, and seeing a person, no, a woman walking towards him with light cascading around her from her patio light set against the evening glow of the setting sun making her glow even more radiant. "Are you an angel?" He questions, attempting to leer a little flirtatiously, before passing out rather spectacularly, which lost all of the appeal he was going for.
"No, I think that's you, buddy." Lauren smiles ruefully, taking a look at the large wings that, although riddles with bullet holes and frankly a mess, were still beautiful beyond anything mortal.
"Okay… Well then…" She says as the man passes out after saying only a few words to her, possibly even attempting to make a pass on her. "Probably should get you inside before the neighbors come to try and take a peek." She talks to herself. "Come on, bud." She says again, more to herself than to the fallen angel as she attempts to juggle him without banging his wings in the doorway of her house although it wasn't without several efforts and a lot of juggling.
"You're a lot heavier than you look… But, at least you're inside…" She tells him as she finally flops him into the middle of her living room.
"Now, I'm not sure I want to know what happened. But, we need to get you cleaned up." She sighs, bringing out her extensive veterinarian kit and sitting herself down next to the nearest wing; she was in for a long night and apparently a cold dinner.
