"Hey, stop her!"
Lizzy sprinted as fast as she could through the dim murky woods. One set of footsteps turned into multiple, as the whole band of mercenaries was tracking her like wolves hunting a deer, quickly catching up to her.
("They're fast! What do I do?!")
Suddenly, Lizzy felt herself lose her balance she looked down in horror. She had tripped on a branch which caused her to tumble to the floor landing next to a tall, pine-like tree She watched in terror as a mercenary closed in his black curved dagger drawn out in front of him.
"I'm going to cut you up, little girl!"
Lizzy winced her body trembling with fear. She had been caught.
("I'm gonna die, I'm gonna die, I'm gonna die!...No I can't just let myself die like this! I've got to survive I need to!")
Lizzy rose to her feet still trembling looking directly at the mercenary in his cold psychotic eyes.
"I-I'm not afraid of you!"
Lizzy pointed the dagger she stole, directly at the mercenary's face. She tried to put on a façade of determination and fearlessness but her shaking and trembling gave her away.
"Hmph, You're a gutsy one little girl! but I can tell you're lying! You're trembling! It's pathetic…Just a scared little wuss probably never held a dagger In her life!"
"Shut up…Shut up…SHUT UP! Nobody calls me a wuss! Only Caleb can call me that you hear me, you bastard!"
Lizzy charged at the mercenary with her dagger drawn, fuelled by her rage. Her eyes still staring at the mercenary as her weapon smashed against the mercenary's blade creating a metallic ring.
"Agh!"
Her hand throbbed with pain from the impact. She recoiled back into the tree behind her gripping her wrist. The mercenary on the other hand was completely unharmed he had blocked the attack and sustained no damage whatsoever.
"Nice try kid, well actually it was a pretty poor try but, nevertheless, this has been fun, but we don't have time to play so come quietly now"
The mercenary grabbed Lizzy's arm firmly, forcefully pulling her back away from the tree as she protested.
"Let go of me! Ugh!"
"Quit struggling! Or I'll cut your arm off!"
*Crunch*
"Agh!"
The mercenary felt a sharp pain in his arm, causing him to recoil back and release his grip on Lizzy. He looked down to see what had caused it, only to find a large bite wound across his arm which was dripping with blood.
"You Brat! you'll pay for that!"
The man, Infuriated, turned to run after Lizzy as she stumbled her way through the forest barely able to see her hand in front of her. Out of the corner of her eye, she notices a large thick column of emerald green bushes illuminated by the faint glow of the moonlight.
("Bingo!")
Lizzy checked to see if she had gotten far enough from the injured mercenary to hide. Deciding her distance was sufficient, Lizzy ducked into the bushes, careful not to make a sound as she lay low in between the branches, hoping that she would not be spotted.
"Dammit, where'd that stupid brat go!"
Lizzy heard the mercenary's footsteps drawing ever closer to the bushes. Her heart was racing, she could feel it wanting to explode out of her chest, every hair standing up on the back of her neck.
"…"
"…"
"Dammit, the brat got away the boss is not going to like this!"
Lizzy let out a sigh of relief, the ordeal was over and she was safe, for now. Her heart relaxed a little as she curled up into a ball in the relatively dry and plentiful ground underneath the thick branches of the bush.
("Guess I'm sleeping here tonight…It's not comfy but at least I'm alive.")
Lizzy sprawled her body as far as the limited space she occupied would allow her. she looked at the pale moonlight as it shone through the cracks in branches illuminating the ground with a soothing white glow. Her eyes slowly drifted closed as she passed out exhausted by her whole ordeal.
