Chapter 1 - Prologue

Prologue:

"Long ago in a world named Estria, two brothers were born; gifted by their gods with unique abilities. One, a blonde-haired boy named Edwil that had eyes as blue as the summer sky was given incredible sword and duelling skills, while the other, Sero, a boy with hair as black as obsidian and gleaming purple eyes full of determination, was given magic and summoning skills beyond that of what an average human could ever dream to achieve. The two boys grew up in constant competition with one another, always competing to see who was, as they grew up they learned to work together and ended up forming a strong brotherly bond with each other. When the brothers were of age, they joined the Imperial army to use their God-given abilities to help protect the innocent villagers outside the walls of the Imperial city. During his time at the imperial army, Edwil met a fair young lady who worked at an inn in a village, she had long black hair as rich and silky as the sky at dusk. The two fell madly in love with each other and ended up getting married just a year after they met. This once again sparked the competitiveness and jealousy within Sero and he vowed that if not in love, he would beat his brother in strength. A short while after the two brothers joined the imperial army a crisis struck Estria. The goddess of darkness; Equisa, awoke from her deep slumber and went on a rampage destroying anything in her path. She attacked the human realm with her army of dark creatures pillaging villages, cities and slaughtering innocent lives. The brothers, thanks to their high ranks within the Imperial Army, were called to the front lines to fight against Equisa's army, in hopes of defeating them and restoring peace to Estria. Being unable to bear the thought of not knowing what was happening to her dear husband, the fair young lady joined the army as a swords' lady so that she may battle alongside her lover. Over the next five years, the three would endure many hardships, the loss of their allies, the loss of loved ones and grave injury, however, The brother's determination and the young lady's love for her husband gave them the fighting spirit they needed. After five long years, they had defeated the goddess's army and were left with the biggest challenge of all, Facing Equisa herself. The three entered her chamber together and prepared themselves for the long battle that lay ahead. Sero made the first strike using his magic skill to limit the goddess's power, meanwhile, Edwil and his wife used their sword skill to deal massive amounts of damage to the already weakened goddess. After much fighting Edwil managed to lay the final blow on the goddess. He plunged his sword into her cold purple heart, which finally ended her. The three stood looking at what remained of the goddess, her soul gem, the part of a god, goddess, or gifted human that would get left behind after they perish, it was said that should a mortal touch a god or goddesses soul gem, they would be granted the power of the deity of which the gem belonged to. Feeling that this was finally his chance to get one up on his brother… Sero eagerly ran to the soul gem. Edwil tried to stop and reason with him explaining that "Equisa's soul gem was full of malice and anger and that he would be consumed by it" But Sero didn't listen, he touched the soul gem and a dark purple cloud consumed... When the cloud cleared, before Edwil and his wife stood no longer their close friend and brother, but rather a demigod hell-bent on destruction and fuelled by jealousy. The corrupted Sero turned to his brother and fired a flurry of dark energy against him. Edwil managed to block the attacks and tried to reason with his now corrupted brother, but it was no use. The only way to match his brother now was to use his secret art; the power stored within his soul, unfortunately, this would drain all his life energy causing him to die. The brother turned to his wife and said 'I love you more than anything and I always will but there's only one way out of this now… when I die, take my soul-gem and pass it down to someone worthy of its power. So that they may defeat Sero and succeed where I shall fail' Edwil knew his power would not be enough to stop his brother, but it would at the very least weaken him and force him into a deep slumber. The lady begged and pleaded with her husband but ultimately, she realised there was no other choice, she said I love you back and watched with tears in her eyes as the two brothers clashed. The two brothers launched attack after attack at each other with such force that it shook the foundation of time and space itself. They fought for what seemed like hours until finally, they delivered the final blow to each other. The blow shook the tower the goddess used to reside in and caused it to start to crumble. Edwil fell to his knees and took one last look at his wife as he faded out of existence. Sero, weakened from the battle fell into a deep slumber and encased himself in a purple crystalline cocoon. The lady crying out at the loss of her husband grasped the soul gem he left behind as the floor caved in under her, knocking her unconscious… She awoke in an unfamiliar place a world that seemed different to her's a world that was different to hers, this world… Legends say she is still searching for someone worthy enough of the soul gem and its power, someone worthy enough to defeat the evil brother when he awakes from his slumber"

"Is all that really true grandma?"

"Yes, dear, of course, it is grandma would never tell you lies now would she!"

The frail old woman sat in her old oak chair, smiling down at her grandson, who sat on the floor listening intently. His eyes sparkled with curiosity and wonder…

"Hey, Ma, Hey, Caleb! I'm home!"

The front door to the small old apartment creaked open and in stepped a woman with silky black hair and blue eyes.

"Mummy!"

The boy cried out as he ran up and hugged his mother tightly, looking up at her, and smiling.

"Mummy! Grandma told me this story about two brothers and they used swords and magic and they fought and and-"

"Oh, she did now did she…?"

The young lady paused to look at her mother, sat in her oak chair, giving her a look that appeared to suggest she knew exactly the story her son was talking about. it, as if she heard that exact story many times before…

"Oh, dear me."

The old lady pointed at her old, faded watch with a disappointed look on her face.

"Look at the time. I suppose I must get going."

"Bye-bye, grandma!"

"Cya later ma."

"Bye-bye, Caleb and Sinestria!"
