Chapter 4 - Chapter 4

'I don't even know your name yet.' Jacob said following her to the parking lot. 'What about your number?' He didn't want to say it but somehow the words escaped his lips. As if by their own accord. A greater goal influenced his speech and actions. He was always looking for a break and the universe always seemed to deny him chances. Not tonight. He was determined to will mere coincidences into working in his favor.

'What about it?' She loved the way he allowed her to act coy. It had been a while since a man lit every fiber of her being. In this moment, she felt fulfilled by expressing her femininity without holding back an ounce of it. She wanted him. All of him. Her body against his.

'Come ooonn...' He chastised, ' give me a break' he said coming to a halt. This made her slow down her pace as she reached her Range Rover and turned to face him, leaning against the car. Jacob was two inches away. Suddenly their eyes locked and for a brief moment no word was said. Silence. Each passing second was magical. A rush caused their hairs to stand.

'I also have to work tomorrow so... Having my number won't help you in any way' She said coldly, 'this is a big city with plenty of men, why should we take this any further?' she hoped in and shut the door, Jacob left out in the cold, with her tinted windows halfway shut. She regretted her actions but but could not allow him to notice it. A lady had to be some type of way. She wasn't a desperate street prostitute nagging men for money. She wasn't your regular day to day girl. She had standards. The kind that required a man take her to restaurants of her liking three months before being intimate physically.

'Don't be a simp Jay.' Jacob thought to himself. His pride couldn't take it any longer. All he wanted to do was leave and forget everything that had just happened. But his desires had other priorities. They didn't care how much sleep time he had left or whatever ounce of reputation he had left; they wanted to throw caution to the wind and make this woman realize what she was missing in her life. He very well knew what he was missing in his life. A rich lady to sort his financial problems. God knows he had a lot of problems that money could solve and this woman right here was his ticket to the good life. He'd had stories before. Stories of how young lads had got a 'cash cow' and the rest was history. He really didn't care for what people would say. To him money was money regardless of how you came into its possession. On the contrary to societal norms, he was fond of slightly older women. Their physical maturity got to his libido easily, so much so that he couldn't help himself to their charms.

'Ow ,its like that now?!' Jacob protested in confusion, he'd barely finished venting when the window shut in his face without another word from her as she raved up the engine. The whiskey in her system made her less interested in his wining. It was late and she wanted to hit the road. At forty two, she'd learnt to prioritize her interests above anyone else's. With no children nor husband, her only responsibility was her business. She never got to be ready to come to terms with the fact that her ordained path in life was to bear children and raise a family, waiting for a husband, if any, to provide for her unending needs; because she had a lot, and she wanted them met. Contrary to what her younger self had expected; a desolate life, she seemed to have an endless list of men who were willing to surrender their entire fortunes just to be with her. She had enough to travel the world, to dine the rarest of cuisines. Yet she couldn't find true love. Could this be it? With a man who seemed ten years younger?

Moments later ,as he was finding his way out of the restaurant's parking lot, her ashen grey tinted Range Rover sped past him splashing the dirty rain water collected in a pool onto his shoes; boots that had cost him a tooth and a nail.

Damn that bitch.

The break lights slowly disappeared into the 3am darkness in a distance as reality started to kick back into Jacob's mind. He took out his smartphone to get an Uber.

10 minutes away. Enough to splits one joint. He took out a joint and lit up. Hissing the smoke into his lungs slowly, impatient for the THC to kick in.
