To Margaret, society was stupid. How it favored the man and took the woman for a slimy, delicate, helpless, good for nothing procreating machine. How women had 'special privileges' and "special rights" as if they were some disabled persons.
Beyonce's 'Flawless' played in her mind, We teach girls to shrink themselves
To make themselves smaller
We say to girls
"You can have ambition
But not too much
You should aim to be successful
But not too successful
Otherwise you will threaten the man"
Because I am female
I am expected to aspire to marriage
I am expected to make my life choices
Always keeping in mind that
Marriage is the most important
Now marriage can be a source of
Joy and love and mutual support
But why do we teach girls to aspire to marriage
And we don't teach boys the same?
We raise girls to see each other as competitors
Not for jobs or for accomplishments
Which I think can be a good thing
But for the attention of men
We teach girls that they cannot be sexual beings
In the way that boys are
Feminist: the person who believes in the social
Political, and economic equality of the sexes.
Why is it okay for a woman to be a house maid and wrong for a man? Why should a woman waste her life being a stay at home mom while the man hustles and keeps all the money to himself? What made it okay for women to simply look pretty and wait for handouts from their husbands; not raise a brow when they get cheated on, and if they did, still remain meek because they wouldn't want to risk their financial plan, their men! ...REALLY? How is that even okay? Her thoughts rumbled on and on, like the tropical thunder married to the heavily pregnant Savannah nimbus clouds.
Why would you want to leave all the power to one person? She never grasped why it is most women were not as assertive as herself when it came to personal sovereignty. She had grown up in a perfect nuclear home. Her mother quit her career to focus on taking care of her family, knowing very well she couldn't serve two masters and have them both satisfied. A career had no intrinsic value to her in as much as a family did. To the contrary, her husband scaled the cooperate ladder like a pro mountaineer. He was rarely home and in as much as he paid all the bills and took care of his children, he was philanderous. Margaret didn't want to repeat her mother's mistakes. She had evolved to be comfortable with casual flings thanks to Tinder, sex toys and erotic novels. As far as an emotional bond with another being was concerned, her chihuahua did the trick. She was Miss Independent.
Neyo's song played in her head, 'Cause she work like a boss
Play like a boss
Car and a crib, she 'bout to pay 'em both off
And her bills are paid on time
She made for a boss
Only a boss
Anythin' less she tellin' them to get lost
That's the girl that's on my mind
It was apparent to her that in any relationship, the one with the most money is the one with the most power and by all means she was determined to have a lot of it. She also wanted a man that wasn't intimidated by her success. Someone who was okay with how much competition she brought about. Someone who didn't crumble under pressure.
Traffic had given way and she had now arrived, trying to squeeze into a linear parking at the Central Business District. The ticket officer was already in the vicinity as soon as she stepped out. She handed her bill, hurrying toward the lobby.

'It really is you isn't it?' Jacob was almost lost for words. Fate had just dealt him a better card this time around; bumping into his fleeting lady from last night.
'No... No it isn't... Sorry, have we met!?' Margaret's heart was now in her mouth trying to put off the unsettling conversation. She was fumbling with her files trying to give the hotel's valet her car keys.
'I'll take that sir!' Jacob snatched the car keys and started pacing toward her Bentley.
'I'll scream for security you stranger!' she started following him to her car, recalling she didn't know his name yet.
'Jacob... Am Jacob you stranger!' he suddenly turned around to grab her by the face and pulled her so that their faces were an inch apart. They froze for a moment there.
'Am Margaret you stranger!' she couldn't help but bite her lower lip when she felt him erect against her crouch, ruining her panties just at the start of the day. He then leaned in to kiss her.
