Chapter 6 - Tempting betrayal

Meanwhile, Tobin was still stirring the liquid contained in the round-bottomed flask which had already begun to bubble. Zain on the other hand was busy at the corner, keeping some records. All of a sudden, Tobin stopped stirring and started coming toward Zain.

" Hay, why did you stop?," asked Zain, wondering why he was coming towards her.

" I just can't hold myself Zain," replied Tobin.

Zain kept on moving backward until she was stopped by the shelf at her back. she had nowhere else to go. Tobin lowered his head to kiss her, but as his lips were about to touch hers, she quickly squeezed herself away from him. She stood by the corner, looking shy.

" What's the problem?" asked Tobin.

" This isn't right," replied Zain.

" Look at me, I like you Zain, and I just wanted to express it. I know you also want to," said Tobin.

He went to her the second time, but this time both their lips made contact as they kissed. Zain got so carried away by the kiss, that she hung her arms around him to kiss him more intensely. The pleasure was like something she have not experienced before. This was her first kiss.

She regained herself when she felt his hands browsing and scanning through her body. It trickled from her breast to her spine, then down to her hips. She began moaning under her breath with pleasure, as her heartbeat increased in speed. At this point, his hands were already under her gown as he massaged her lap with relish. But when she felt his hands reaching the middle of her legs, she quickly hit it off and removed herself from him.

"Why did you do that?," asked Zain, smiling at Tobin but trying to forge an upset emotion.

" I'm sorry I went too far," replied Tobin.

Tobin kept on staring at Zain and smiling too.

" You just keep staring at me," said Zain. " It looks awkward,"

" You're beautiful Zain," said Tobin.

" But not as beautiful as your girlfriend," replied Zain.

" I said you're beautiful," said Tobin.

She was giggling at this point.

" Oh stop it, you're so hilarious," said Zain.

" I feel like kissing you again," said Tobin.

But before he could finish, she dragged him close to her through his collar, then they began to kiss again. It was at this moment that the door swung open as Zelta walked in. She was so surprised at what she just saw. Zain and Tobin quickly released themselves immediately they saw her.

" You know what, I'm just going to pretend I didn't see that," said Zelta in an attempt to leave.

" Zelta wait!" shouted Tobin.

" Wait for what Tobin, what exactly do you have to say about this?," asked Zelta.

" It's not what you think," said Tobin.

" What, it's not what I think?," said Zelta.

" Okay I'm sorry," said Tobin, walking towards her.

" Don't you say that Tobin, and don't you touch me. I thought you loved me Tobin, and you Zain i..., I thought we were friends, but all along I've been wrong," said Zelta.

" By the way, I came to meet Zain for an important issue, but that can wait till you're done kissing," said Zelta, then she shut the door and left.

Priestess Arorah was in her chamber, writing on a book with a quail pen and ink. She looked better today, unlike the previous day. As she reached for a book on the shelf, there was a knock on the door.

" You may come in," said the priestess.

The door opened as O'Neil came in. When O'Neil saw the priestess, he was shocked to see her on her feet.

" Good day my priestess, I can see you're getting better," greeted O'Neil.

" I pray I do," replied Arorah, "so what brings my little brother here ."

" There's something I wish to discuss with you," said O'Neil.

" Have a seat and feel at home ."

O'Neil sat down on a chair beside the shelf.

" Um, it's about that prisoner detained in the dungeon," said O'Neil.

" I can't continue torturing him for nothing. Although he refused to talk to us, it doesn't warrant torturing to that extent,". There was silence for some moment now. The priestess brought up a large book and started flipping through its pages.

" Right now I'm beginning to feel guilty, someone else has to continue but not me," said O'Neil.

The priestess was smiling as she glanced at the pages of the book. O'Neil stood up from his seat to see what was amusing his sister. It was the pictures of their past leaders who were already gone. Also, they were all war commanders. Inscribed beside each picture were achievements they made during their time. The last page opened was that of their late father; Raphael Shawn. He was recorded as the greatest warrior who slayed terrifying and enormous beasts single-handedly. The appearance of the beasts he slew still remained unknown to them.

" I miss him every day," said priestess Arorah.

" Me too," replied O'Neil,

" He was truly a war hero ."

" Each and every warrior in this book were great people who protected the realm till today," said priestess Arorah.

" That was because they didn't show their weakness to our enemies. They didn't show their humanity in the face of war, you shouldn't too," said priestess Arorah.

" But I'm not like them, I'm exceptional," said O'Neil.

" And I don't think the prisoner is a threat, he's human," said O'Neil, standing up from the sit on which he sat.

" It's your choice to make O'Neil, but let it be the right one," replied priestess Arorah. O'Neil left the room as priestess Arorah shook her head and said; " May the spirit of our ancestors lead him ."

Along the dark passage of the dungeon walked Zelta. She was going to pay a visit to the prisoner at the dungeon. She held a water container and food in a basket to give him. when she reached his cell, she saw him seated on the floor with hands and legs bound to four long chains.

" Hello," greeted Angela as she waved her hand. There was no response from the prisoner who raised his head to see who this unexpected visitor was.
