Zelta waited for him to respond. When he came to the light, she saw that he had blue eyes and black hair, and she considered him attractive. He kept on staring at Zelta, who later said; "my name is Zelta, what's your name?", but there was still no response. "I brought food and water for you, do you mind?" she stretched forth her hands to give him both the food and water. He collected them from her and then he replied to her saying, " I'm Simon." He drank a little content of the water, coughing after each gulp. Then he took a few bites of the cake. The constituents of the food brought by Zelta were; cakes, bread, and roasted fish.
" It's nice to meet you, Simon. I almost thought you don't understand English," said Zelta. He held the cake in both hands, still eating. The manner in which he ate the food displayed his hunger. Zelta knew that they have been starving him. " Simon, I know you're being maltreated here for nothing, and I'm sorry for that. I'll get you out of here," said Zelta.
" And how do you intend to do that?" asked Simon, with enthusiasm, revealed in his eyes.
" My mother is our leader, I can convince her to release you," replied Zelta. As she spoke to him, she saw that his eyes were transfixed on her, this made her start feeling uneasy.
" Why do you stare at me like that?," asked Zelta.
" Sorry, you just look so familiar to me," said Simon.
" It can't be, we barely know each other," replied Zelta.
" That night I was captured by your people, I saw you with another girl watching us from a hidden place above the mountain," said Simon, " is she your friend?"
Right now Zelta was stunned in disbelief. How could this ever be possible, how can a person possess such eyesight?
" Impossible, how come you saw me from that far distance, and also through the dark night?," asked Zelta.
" It's my wolf spirit," answered Simon shortly.
" You still tell me a mystery, I mean, what in the heavens is a wolf spirit?," asked Zelta.
" Let me just break it down for you. Wolf spirits are gifts, abilities passed on from parents to offspring. Not all wolfling possess them though," explained Simon.
" Does that mean your own spirit thing is uh...super vision?," asked Zelta.
" Yeah, stuff like that," answered Simon shortly.
" That night our intentions weren't violence. We came for peace but your people misunderstood us," said Simon.
" So what were your intentions that night?," asked Zelta.
" We came to seek safety from your people, we're just a group of human species looking for where to call a home," said Simon.
" Let me tell you something, this valley is our sacred dwelling place. I don't think there's any chance for your people here," replied Zelta.
" Ever since I was a child, I believed a lie. A lie that my people are the only surviving humans on earth. Only now do I realize that all along, we were all wrong," said Zelta.
" You don't understand me because you haven't seen or been to the outside world. Day after day, my people are massacred by different unholy beings," said Simon.
" Although I've not been to the outside world, I have heard terrible stories of dangerous creatures with despicable characters existing there," said Zelta. She squatted down beside the door to the cell. There on the floor, she started to receive flashbacks of what she witnessed earlier that day when she met Zain and Tobin kissing each other. As these images reappeared in her mind, it made her countenance change. Zelta appeared moody.
" You look sad, is there a problem?" asked Simon.
" Yeah, my friends betrayed me," replied Zelta as a drop of tear rolled down her cheek.
" I'm so sorry about that, those friends of yours are so ignorant of your importance to them," said Simon. There was something about his statement, that keep her mouth open.
" What importance, I mean, you know nothing about me and now you speak of importance," said Zelta.
" I just feel that there's something special about you," replied Simon.
There was silence for a long time now, the only sound heard were noises of cave bats and rats' squeaks. All of a sudden, Simon spilled to the floor and began to shake vigorously and helplessly.
" Oh no, oh no...!" wailed Simon in pain, repeatedly.
" What is the matter?," asked Zelta who tried to help, but was prevented by the massive iron bars.
" Ahhh!," shouted Simon as blood began rushing through his nostrils. When Zelta saw this, she became terrified that she started shouting uncontrollably for help, but nobody showed up to help because of the distance from the areas of residence.
" What is the problem, how do I help?," asked Zelta.
" Blood," answered Simon shortly.
" Blood?," asked Zelta who looked puzzled.
" Get it out of here," he said.
She started to search the environment for any trace of blood, but she couldn't see any. Later on, she spotted an injured rat limping along the path. The rat was bleeding so she picked it up by the tail and threw it after off. when she came back, she was surprised at what she saw. She looked into the cell and saw his skeletal frame cracking and reforming. Zelta kept on watching with great interest and enthusiasm as furs and a tail began to form. Simon transformed fully into a large wolf. He was struggling to rip off the chains bound to his limbs, but he couldn't do so. At first, Zelta was afraid of the wolf, but later on, she came closer and stretched forth her arm to him inside the cell. The wolf was still dragging itself and growling. When he saw her, he came towards her hand and she stroked his head.
" I know you're scared, and I know you're in there, but you have to keep calm," said Zelta, still stroking his head. A few minutes later, he transformed back into a human, falling to the ground in the process. Zelta look and saw that he was completely nude. She pulled her cloak and tossed it over him, covering her eyes partially with her other arm. He woke up after a while and saw surprised to find himself naked. When he saw her, he quickly wrapped the cloak properly around himself.
" What happen?," asked Simon," Did I do anything disastrous?".
" No, everything is fine," replied Zelta.
" How did you just transform?," asked Zelta.
" We transform into wolf form whenever we perceive the smell of blood and the sight of the full moon. Some people can control it, but it takes time to learn. I could've controlled myself, but I guess enough strength in me," explained Simon.
" It's getting late, I better get going before my unit starts getting worried about me.," said Zelta in an attempt to leave. But as she was about to leave, he called her back.
" Wait," said Simon shortly, stretching forth his hand through the spaces between the bars. He held her hand. He held her for some moment, not uttering a word and looking at her in the eyes.
" When I look into your eyes, I see seeds of greatest planted within you. I see great powers, one that you can never ever imagine, there within you. I see a great warrior in you and I see a future with both of us, " said Simon, smiling at her.
" It appears you see a great deal of things with that vision of yours," said Zelta with a giggle.
" Oh, what was I saying, silly me? What I wanted to say is thank you. Thank you for your time and your help Zelta, said Simon.
" Don't mention it, typical me," replied Zelta.
" Trust me when you need help and I promise to return the favor," said Simon. He withdrew his hand, then she left afterward for home.
When Zelta got home, she was surprised at the state of health of her mother.
