With that new information in mind, I felt like this world had been a lie. Like Yggdrasil awakened me to a different period, and not a different world. Either way, it didn't matter right now, I needed to make potions for Lum first thing. That was my top priority.
I woke up in the middle of the night and decided to get an early start, gathering any flowers I could and putting them into my inventory. I cut my finger with a small knife I carried around and bled it into a jar to mass-produce potions. I looked around at other herbs in my inventory to see what I could add. I made the potions, but I wanted to experiment after producing eighty health potions all at once.
I placed dandelions into the potion and was greeted with a... poison potion?!
And this poison was as strong as possible, thanks to my skill. I guess this was the drawback... I shouldn't pour this anywhere, I know it definitely is more complicated than just poisoning my opponents. I wondered what it could do... kill plant life? Poison bodies of water? The possibilities were endless...
I removed the flower and added a dandelion to a jar of blood, but this time around, it made a yellow potion with no description added to it. Beforehand, the items in my inventory were made and showed a description of the item before I stashed it away, but this one was completely blank. When I added the flower to it, it became a [Yellow Health Potion]. I didn't know I could change the color... but I could do something amazing with this.
If I make a colorful potion for Zeus and it's one of top quality, he would praise me for it and I could gain leverage that way. Or... maybe I'll find a rainbow flower and turn the potion into a multi-color? Dammit! What would a dude with the name 'Zeus' like?!
This is my one special skill... and I've been very shallow with it. I needed to expand my horizons. Can I make a potion that boosts skills? How would I even do that? With mana residue?
I shot off [Impale] at a nearby flower and picked it up as soon as possible, placing the jar of blood and the flower in my inventory. The potion took ten seconds longer to make than it usually did, and when it made itself, another line in its description appeared.
[-Boosts Magic Skill by 100%]
My jaw was stuck in a dropped position. It doubled the damage?! That was insanity! But wait... this is perfect!
I could tell Zeus to use his air magic on a flower and make him a potion that boosted his skill! On top of this new description, the health potion still had the same function. It was a health potion that boosted my magic skill. Could I stack the effects? There was much to experiment with, but I wanted potions that could restore more than just health. I wanted to restore mana. How could I manage that...
I looked everywhere I could for ingredients, but couldn't find anything but berries and flowers. Maybe the berries?
I tossed some berries into a potion with what was left in the jar of my blood and created a stamina potion. It fully restored all of my stamina, so I kept it around and wrote it on a note before storing it in my inventory. I had tons of notes with information like that, so my inventory was full of notes more than health potions at this point.
I now had enough health potions to take care of my business with Lum, so I gave my ticket to the guard at the front and walked over to where Lum was at. Everybody was still asleep since it was barely dawn at this point.
Not even on Earth did I sleep for the entire night and I never needed it, so I slept for five hours at most. When I was done sleeping here, I spent time experimenting in my inventory with different things. I have done that without fail every single day.
I finally entered Lum's office and started to unload my health potions, stacking them in the corner by the entrance. Afterward, I pulled out some more paper and wrote a 'thank you' note to him, including a few extra for the trouble we went through together. With that finished, that chapter of New Olympia was out of the way.
I wondered how I should go about meeting Zeus. Now that I was in the city, I could look around for a bit, but I had to return to my friends soon so they didn't get worried. I could very obviously see within the city where Zeus would be, considering there was a large temple that looked of Olympian design. Strange, white pillars with stone slabs acting as the roof, it was a dead giveaway.
A dirt path led up to it from a nearby entrance to the city, and that entrance had another gate around it with soldiers as well. I decided to go investigate, but I was stopped by their request pretty far out from the entrance.
"Halt! What business do you have here?!" One of the soldiers dressed in white asked me.
"Just browsing. Is this where Zeus is at? I want him to teach me how to wield the air element." I told the soldiers.
"Zeus isn't taking any new Apostles or Disciples right now." The soldier said to me, brandishing his weapon. He made it pretty clear that I should leave now... but I didn't feel like complying.
"I can imagine Zeus needs his fair share of potions to stay healthy... right? Well here, tell you what," I enticed the soldiers by throwing the yellow potion at them. I'm positive they've never seen a maximum quality potion before, especially of a yellow color. They'll think something is wrong with the potion itself or is stronger because of the color, and since Zeus isn't capable of making potions as I can, he'll demand a supply of yellow potions. I'm the only one who can make them, this is my invite in.
"A-Amazing! Hey, who are you?!" The soldiers asked me.
"Eh, just a traveler. I'll come back later today, in a few hours. If Zeus is interested, tell him about me. I'll hand over my weaponry to show you that I'm not a threat either. Well, I'll see you, gentlemen, later, and hopefully more often." I bowed to the soldiers to show respect after my offer, then quickly walked away.
I couldn't help but feel excited. That was easier than I expected, but it almost felt too easy.
