Chapter 1 - The Fate Of The Wounded

The world has a dark side that only few people get to see, as you analyze it to its core, you find the many torturous acts conducted to be a nessecity to keep the few that see the dark side alive.

Women would sell their bodies to keep themselves from being harmed by greater forces beyond their imagination. Throughout a society there are ranks that effect an individuals social standing, with the empire associating mixed race at the bottom of the list, for although an oddity their existence has no placement nor purpose in the citizens eyes.

A particular auction was held each year throughout the empire to rid themselves of children born from this sort of unity. Through the darkness of the night several children were chosen to depart to a manor of a general who had just recently had a additional concubine that ran low on staff for her courthouse.

Men loomed over the hunched silhouettes of these children, whips in hand to feel powerful.

These men were disgusted at the children that the general had chosen for the concubine, but also felt something akin to fascination to one girl in particular that had clear grey eyes that seemed to judge the soul of one.

From this the men began to feel guilt to the brutal acts done on the children, though instead of stopping their actions their rage grew treating the children to the point of being deemed unsuitable for the concubine.

Because of the damage done to the children, the men were punished for ruining the gift from the general to the concubine, while the children were placed in barracks where they will remain until they were completely healed for the concubine.

All throughout the ordeal the men with whips now with fresh wounds on their backs reflected upon the clear grey eyes of that mixed race girl, feeling as if their past sins had been exposed from one look at her.

As this took place, the young girl of the men's thoughts fell into a serene like state, not knowing what to do with herself from the time it took to heal her wounds. Once her purpose had been her family, now lost in the ashes of a decaying village. There was no purpose anymore. Thus, the grey eyes that the men feared dimmed into an endless peace of tranquility, as her movements felt more mechanic rather than human.

Her thoughts drifting towards the monsters she had experienced since the destruction of her village, who were not the men with whips, but the people in society who felt they were superior amongst anyone different in the world.

Time quickly passed, physical wounds healing faster than mental wounds. Before even light out, several children were wretched from their cots, with their screams filling the once quiet dark. The grey eyed girl was included in this theft, startled out of her slumber, but soon quitting her resistance.

She was then placed on a wagon where she found the children she had came with a month prior, hunched over sobbing quietly into their hands.

A large man appeared by the side of the wagon speaking in a way that frightened everyone.

"Slaves, you will be headed to the Xia Manor where you will meet Concubine Xia, one wrong move and you will be immediately discarded."

Without another word, the large man swung his body into the riding chair of the wagon, making the wagon creak with despair at the additional weight.
