I collected myself and we kept moving. As we went down stairs, I spoke up.
"That Death Knight talked as if he knew my grandfather. Do you know anything about it?"
"Hmmm? No. But I don't think you should think too much about it. Undead usually don't have that much brain left. It is highly that he took you for someone else or just rambled nonsense."
He looked like he had a lot of brain left to me though.
"He is called Black Calamity. He is the reason why creating Death Knights was banned."
"That name is something else."
"Council loves dramatic names."
She told me with a smile. But this time her smile felt hollow.
"Why and who he is…was?"
She shrugged.
"Creating undead is easy and convenient, so we used very often. It isn't easy for an undead to keep even a smallest part of their past life. But Calamity did. He was outraged by his transformation. He even killed a member of the Council. He kept hunting vampires for some time. We thought he went off and died in a ditch or something."
I can't say I blamed him. I could even sympathize with him. Being turned into something else and having to serve someone… I technically gave consent but did I even had a choice? I snapped as I saw people wearing maid clothes. Their red eyes told me that they were vampires. They bowed down to both of us.
"Do you prefer more skimpy clothes?"
I sighed.
"No."
"Well, you can do what you want with them. They are yours, just like this castle."
"What?"
"My gift to you."
She said nonchalantly as she blew a kiss to me. I just sighed again. I should get used to her antics.
"Here we are! Do you remember this?"
She pointed to blood red blade on the table.
"Wait, isn't this mine…"
"Yes!"
She opened and her arms and spun. I just watched her with weirded out expression.
"It didn't turned back to normal?"
I asked as I grabbed its handle. A sense of strength rushed as my hand grabbed it. There were two differences before. Blade was blood red. Not in like rusted state. It was just like metal was turned red. Also handle was now spiky and has sharp spikes covering it.
"Good thing I was there to recover it. People nearly died trying to recover it."
Elizabeth laughed but I was mortified. Seeing my face she stopped and shook her hands.
"Don't worry, nobody died. Just their blood was sucked."
Wait, was that the reason I felt strength rushing when I grabbed it? It transferred the blood it sucked to me?
"Seeing your face you realized what happened. This is a very special blade. And you made it."
"I don't even know what I did."
"You created a blade with ownership using Blood Reinforcement. I was able to grab it but I couldn't infuse mana to it or withdraw blood stored in it. There are probably less than thousand humans that could create an item with ownership."
Ownership. It was a trait that could be added to magical items. When one person was bonded with and item, only they could use that item.
"Pretty cool."
I blurted out as I looked at the blade.
"I know, right?"
"But how does that even work? Can I just bleed to anything and make them magical?"
"Of course not. If it were that easy… Look, for a vampire our blood is mana and our mana is blood. So think it like you enchanting something with mana."
"I still can't use mana though…"
"Don't worry, you have the all time in the world! You can stay here and train! You have all the maids to do homework… and for other things! As your Origin, I will look after you."
"Don't be silly Elizabeth. I need to see my family. Thanks for saving my ass but I need to go. I'll climb to A rank and join with Edward like we talked."
"No. That's not an option anymore. Conditions changed. Since you are officially dead."
"What did you do again?"
"What will you do if you return to you family? Will you be able to protect them when Calamity comes after you? If Abdon family comes?"
"What's Abdon family have to do with this?"
"Lazarus Abdon was heavily wounded. Vampires are very vengeful creatures. They will search and kill anyone involved."
"What! That's just more the reason why I need to return!"
"If they think you are dead, they won't look more into it."
"How can you be so sure? And also shouldn't you take care off them? My sisters almost died because you blocked me from saying your name!"
"Burak, there are a lot of things that I can't tell you now. Best I can say is consider your old life gone. If you return, you and your family will die. Anyone that knows vampires learned you are a vampire when you used Blood Reinforcement and people recorded it. If you care about your family, don't go back. I am sorry. I never thought things could get out off hand this badly. Wolfgang's plans, Abdon family and Calamity. You were dealt with worst possible hand."
"I can't just leave them! If you and Edward help me…"
"That's not how things work, Burak. Do you think you can protect your family with other people's strength?"
"What else I am supposed to do! You put me in this shit and now you pull me out!"
"No. You were the one joined that fight. You are the one used a technique exclusive to vampires at a place everybody could see you. You are the one that put yourself and your family into that shit and you will pull yourself out of it."
"How?"
"Get stronger. Get so strong enough to join the Council."
"Teach me then."
I spat out with clenched teeth. Elizabeth smiled.
"I am not a soft teacher."
I clenched my fist.
"I am not a soft learner."
