Chapter 39 - Chapter XXXIX: Mission Possible (3)

I didn't find much in this bedroom of a supposed villain. Of course, nothing except money, a couple playboy magazines, alcohol, pistols, and drugs.

Almost all of which I didn't expect for a boss of this kind of facility to own. I could be overthinking it, which is highly unlikely.

I left the drugs, magazines, and alcohol behind, and walked back into the elevator. I pressed the button for the lowest floor.

I had to once again suffer through the quietness of this second elevator ride.

*Ding!*

'Finally, I don't think I can take another elevator ride.'

The elevator opened up to a dark hallway that had a staircase leading downward.

'How ominous. For regular people at least.' I carried myself at a normal pace down the steps. The walls had many unlighted torches.

'Why is it so dark? All they had to do was light the torches.' I could feel all of the gazes from the eight legged creatures on the ceilings and walls.

I could also feel their emotions. It seemed that I not only had control over these arachnid creatures, but I also had some form of empathic attachment with them.

I briefly stopped moving down the stairs to better understand. I reached out my hand towards the top part of the wall next to me.

I watched as a single black widow spider crawled on the palm of my hand. It opened all of its eyes and looked up at me. It was quite big for a spider.

I could feel its emotions as it tried to analyze the situation. It felt as if I was familiar, even though we've never met before.

It felt like it could trust me.

As far as I knew in my last life, spiders weren't capable to have any emotional attachment or feelings towards humans. But I could always apply the usual excuse for things that don't make sense.

It's the Marvel Universe.

It's not too far off to apply that logic, I mean after all, Ant-Man could communicate with ants, and I'm pretty sure ants are even more incapable of feeling emotion for humans than spiders.

"Do you wanna come with me little guy?" I didn't expect a response, but I could only assume by the blinking of its eyes twice meant yes.

I continued down the steps and made it to the door in no time. The spider crawled to the back of my hand as I reached out for the door knob.

I could've phased through the door or something, but I'm not in any danger, what's the point?

I slowly opened the door and my ears were flooded with the sound of the pattering of feet, and whirring of machines.

I fully opened the door and saw maybe 30 scientists running around doing something. Some were taking notes by machines, some where doing work with chemicals, some were observing, while others were helping.

Then, there was the expected and kinda unexpected piece of machinery. In the center of attention was a pod with two empty slots on the side. One slot on each side.

Considering the small size of the slots, I assume that maybe vials are meant to go there.

This only begged the question about who was supposed to go in this pod. Maybe those kidnapped people?

"Hey little guy, go collect some information for me will you?"

I put down this spider in my pet function. This would be my little information getter.

[Pet Name: Not Defined

Residence: Germany

Occupation: *New* Information Gatherer

Family: Billy Loomis

Gender: Male

Race: Arachnid

Type: Darwin Bark Spider

Health: Healthy

Age: 6 Months

Length: 3.5 Inches]

'System, update name to.. Venom.' I didn't know if this spider was venomous, but I named him that in memory of Venom.

>What information are you looking for?<

I never knew that I wanted to know what a spider would sound like until today. It was definitely mind numbing.

'About the experiment that would've been conducted today.'

>Understood.<

The spider slung a web to the ceiling and started spying on what everyone was doing. I walked around and observed these scientists.

They didn't acknowledge my existence. Just like the guy watching the cameras earlier. Something was definitely fishy. They even had the same blank and emotionless eyes that he did.

I walked towards the pod and saw that there were two needles on the inside, exactly where the two vial slots were on the outside.

Next to the pod as well was a briefcase on top of a wooden stool. Next to that stool, was a chair. There was nothing interesting about the chair, but rather the man who was sitting in it.

This man was dressed in a two piece suit and was staring at the pod. This man was definitely different from these scientists. You could even tell just by how he looked without the suit.

He looked much more healthy, while these scientists looked overworked and tired. This

Malone let me know that this was the "boss man" I've been looking for.

But I could already see he would be useless, seeing as he has the same blank look like everyone else around here.

I nabbed the brief case next to him and opened it up. My eyes were then introduced to two vials with a glowing hue to them.

These two vials' energy were much different. I couldn't explain it because I'd never felt either of these energies before.

The top vial was blue, while the bottom one was green. The green one seemed to glow brighter than the blue one.

'Scan these two vials.'

[Vial Number One: Incomplete Super Soldier Serum.

The Super Soldier Serum is a chemical solution originally created by Abraham Erskine. The serum was formulated to enhance the human body and mind, and was intended to be utilized by the United States Armed Forces during World War II in order to transform Allied soldiers into super soldiers.

This version of the serum is an incomplete copy of the original that was created by the Germans to get their own kind of Captain America. The Germans failed the first time with Red Skull, so they believe they will succeed the second time with the help of the second vial.]

[Vial Number Two: Gamma Radiation

Gamma Radiation is electromagnetic radiation of the shortest wavelength, and is emitted by the Infinity Stones. Gamma radiation was absorbed by Bruce Banner after he used it in his Super Soldier Serum, transforming him into Hulk.

Bruce Banner was lucky that he didn't explode from absorbing the Gamma radiation because the version of Super Soldier Serum he took was much more accurate than this one created by the Germans.

The Germans believe that by mixing these two chemicals together, they'll get an even stronger Captain America. Their theory would work perfectly, if they could find someone suitable enough to contain that power without dying.]

'So the Germans are experimenting with Gamma radiation and a Super Soldier Serum copy. I don't remember this in the movies, why are they doing it now?

Is it because in the movies it never worked? Or is this another comic thing?' I couldn't get an actual answer because I'd never know. I took the two vials and stuffed them into the inventory.

I closed the briefcase and put it back next to the blank man. I walked over to the pod and put it into the inventory too. I was going to make an improved version of this because I know this machine wouldn't be able to contain the power they were messing with.

'Venom, have you found out anything?'

>Yeah, I've found out a bit. It seems like this specific branch of German military are studying the art of hypnotism.

They've just started these kinds of tests and don't seem to be too proficient.<

'Yeah, I murdered all the soldiers except the one on my back and all these guys are still here. They could do better.' I checked the pockets of everyone here and finally left the base with Venom hiding in my hair.

I was certainly getting Ratatouille vibes.

I exited the room and made my way up the stairs. When I made it to the top, that's when I realized that I'd have to go up that elevator again.

"Fuck no." I started phasing my body and flew up the elevator and past its cables. I made it to the entrance of the base and opened its doors, and on the other side was the small, newly formed and temporary group of Claire, Daniel, Ash, Damien, Samuel, and the kidnapped people who were waiting outside for me. Albeit impatiently might I add.

"What took you so long?" Claire asked.

"I'll explain later. Right now, we need to go."
