"Lia, you thought I wouldn't find out? You must be thinking I'm stupid and you're laughing behind my back." the Marchioness said with a smile, but the maid could see the coldness of her gaze as the marchioness grabs her hair as she stared right in her eyes. A menacing gaze pierced at the old lady.
Nevertheless, the maid forced herself to hold the pain by biting her own tongue. It all started after the Marchioness came home a few days ago, dirt all over her dress and scratches on her face were visible. Laxus, Lexus and Caesar made it very clear to her that she won't be as much as stepping a single step inside the gate and when before she could force herself inside, it didn't go well for her.
It is very obvious for the people to notice that it will end up a humiliation for the Marchioness and even if she knew about it she still went. The Marquis was disappointed as soon as she find out what she did.
After their argument that day, she immediately kept an eye on Lia. After all, she finally acknowledges that the maid has attachment on Lane and she's the one who helped the child to flee.
"You joined hands with that woman. You betrayed me, Lia." she added. Lia refuted in anger, "My loyalty lies only for the Farlon. Not to you, my lady."
The Marchioness snapped at her answer. She is also a Farlon, Lia's answer had triggered the anger deep in her heart. She tugged Lia's hair as she dragged her towards the shattered glasses on the ground.
Despite the feeling of slowly sinking shards on her thighs, Lia only bit her lips and looked at the marchioness with anger, "You killed Hansel...!"
Hansel is the name of the late Marquis and Lane's father. Her anger dissipated when she saw that there was no emotion in the Marchioness' eyes after hearing her accusations.
'is this really the woman Hansel married?!'
she recalled how Hansel brags Lady Amanda while he's still alive, but right now, all she sees is different from his compliments. The woman in front of her was staring at her blankly with a cold gaze. Like she doesn't care what she thinks.
Her lips trembled and asked her a question which she has as of now, "You... did you... ever love the late marquis?"
The Marchioness, however, did not answer her, instead she let out a scoff and dropped her on the ground. She yelped as soon as the shards on her flesh sank deeper on her flesh.
The Marchioness stared at the window with an absent mind.
"Lock her up and give her food once a day." Lia gazed at the Marchioness' back. Both women have questions for each other, but neither spoke.
The cold air permeates through her skin as she gazes at the table.
At last when the door closed she suddenly shoved all of the papers on the table and slammed her hands on the table, pounding on it once, twice until her eyes became mad.
"That wrenched woman...!" it almost, almost said something.
the Marchioness indeed fell in love with Hansel, however, it was clouded by a sense of inferiority to Duchess Carina and she always laid out her frustration to her loving husband. For her, the Duke is better choice in terms of title and wealth. Even if she did fall for her husband it was never enough.
Then Lane came and inherited his husband's looks even after his death she was haunted by her husband. Guilt, horror and madness filled her heart after his death. Tears trickled down to her left eye as she stared at the crescent moon from her window.
"I should get Lane back. I must have him back" she muttered.
A single piece of paper slipping at the edge of the desk. Her eyes became vicious as her lips turned into a wicked smile.
"Indeed, the best course of action is getting help from them." she let out a menacing chuckle till it turned into laughter.
---------------------------------------------------
This is nice, there hasn't been any incidents around me lately. However it bothered me. IT IS TOO MUCH peace, if I have to say.
I know I should be happy, but it is bothering me too much! I know something is bound to happen one of these days.
"five consecutive days of the twins laying low." Adara commented while watching Laxus and Lexus by the Veranda.
It is a rare sight to see. The twins are mending the plants and even pruning the rose bushes under the sun.
"They must have hit their heads." Boaife's voice is evident with disgust while serving me tea, and by the looks of it, we are not the only one who finds it odd that the twins were keeping a low profile.
because of the peace around the mansion, our parents have left us to go to the capital with the emperor. While Aunt Mavis had to check onw of our villas in the countryside.
Aunt Patrice on the other hand is, well, she was tasked of finding someone important. They actually believe that we can be by ourselves for at least a day, a stupid idea.
"Laxus how many is this?" Yessenia showed her three fingers in front of him. It was funny to see because her thoughts are openly showing that she thinks that the twins lose their sanity after being beaten by Aunt Patrice three days ago.
Lately, the three of them were in good terms. Lexus hasn't changed much, but Laxus did. He always wandered and asking Lexus. More like he became clingy to him. Maybe because he still can't figure out why Lexus is like that.
"No. You got it wrong. You should ask whether they know who they are," Azi said sharply while patting Lexus' shoulders, "Quit it!" Laxus hissed as he runs his hands on his head.
Well, it seems his mind is intact. Lexus then spoke in a mild manner, "I'm only trying to put myself in Laxus' shoes since he was busy for days for this. However, I can only say that I don't like doing this."
Oh, by the way, the three princes were left with us. Prince Asterion suggested to the two princes that they should stay for a while and here I am again wishing that they have gone home.
Besides the Twins being quiet, Prince Asterions is also awfully quiet. While Prince Cannon and Zairon were often hangs out together and sometimes the two of them were found in the library, studying.
I can see that Zairon is close to the Crown Prince and that is why I have a question. Why did he kill Prince Cannon in the novel if they were this close?
"Master, there is something wrong." Cervi moved closely, sword drawn in his hands.
Meanwhile Boaife and Adara perked up as Adara looked below while Boaife lit a small fire in her hands.
"Hey, it seems there is another rat entered." Laxus stood up and dusted himself as he dropped the gardening tools.
Lexus handed down Laxus' sword and flew upwards. Indeed, this kind of aura is suffocating. I can feel some murderous intent not far from here.
"Kyah!"
"I will go outside and check it," Cervi said and vanished without letting me say anything, "That boy didn't learn anything." Adara sighed deeply and crouched down, palms on the marbled floor.
"Hmm... there are intruders inside. Approximately around 50 or less."
Right, "Yessenia and Azi must have taken to safety. We should---" a blast has made me fly away but Boaife caught me immediately and pulled me in her arms as she created a barrier made from fire.
Smoke and heavy thumps followed by metal clanking. With my one eye it is hard to discern who was who however, this refreshing smell of breeze with mint is Cervi's.
"We should get down." I whispered however I felt a hotter flame behind me then the barrier was replaced of thick wall made from soil.
"You cannot touch her~" I am more scared to see Adara's face rather than the intruders inside this mansion.
"Tsk, we should move before we find more enemies." I looked back and they weren't following us, rather it seems they are trying to keep us.
Even Laxus below can't move freely, he's fending off the intruders and Lexus above is being occupied to assist his twin brother.
"They attacked when the adults are not present and they are not trying to kill us..."
Well, what do they want after all?
"Wren, where are the others?"
"Maybe they were moved to other rooms---"
"Lane, is Lane with someone?" suddenly, Lexus is beside me, panting, behind is his duplicate that he made while it's attacking the intruders.
I was surprised to see blood on his shoulders, did he get wounded? "Shouldn't you---"
"Go... go to Lane this instant," He said hoarsely as he pushed us away. This is the first time he put attention towards Lane and it made me stop, "Is it..."
"Right. The Marchioness won't stop just to get Lane back. It seems the kid is valuable," He added to confirm my guess and chanted a spell before turning around, "Go to Lane and don't let anyone get to him."
what?! Why is he entrusting that important matter to me?! Shouldn't he help me or something instead of going in there?
"We should hurry, Wren. They are spreading around and killing some of the servants"
You know what? I shouldn't question the peace I had these days. Speaking of people, "Adara go and check the princes." she smiled and vanished right in front of us.
Boaife hissed as we immediately headed towards the annex wherein Lane rests.
The hallway is too quiet and there is no trace of someone intruded. "Wren there is something wrong so keep clo--" A loud thud and Boaife collapsed on the floor.
"Boaife!"
"Aaahh! Let me go!"
Lane...! I hastily ran away from Boaife and the attacker, even though it is following me.
"Come back here!"
NO! WHO'S IDIOT WOULD FOLLOW YOU?!?!
Besides that! I am pretty useless now!! I should call someone else— "Into my world."
a flashing light envelops my sight as wide arms securely hugged me away. The smell of freshly made cookies made me hungry at this moment followed by the sound of amusement, "Are you alright, Lady Wren?"
Oh my gosh, It is Prince Asterion! Wait, what did he do to the man? Ahh! I pushed him away and ran again to find Lane.
"Lady Wren!"
And why are you following me now?!
"Lane!!" I shouted and opened his door wide and saw the room in disarray.
The sheets and pillows are scattered and feathers are falling. Tsk, "They got the young heir." Prince Asterion said after entering the room.
"I will track them---"
"I'll come with you," he didn't ask for my permission it is obvious how he stated it, "You will need me and I have something to ask with those men."
I felt a shiver run down to my spine as he showed me a gleeful smile as he grabbed my hand to track Lane.
